- Hasselt is the capital of the Belgian province of Limburg and in terms of population is the smallest provincial capital in Flanders. Its cloth trade boomed between the 14th and 16th centuries and later its economy was centred first on breweries and then on gin distilleries. Nowadays it is a perfect city for shopping as it has a wide variety of pedestrian streets with plenty of shops and brands, which is why it is known as the capital of good taste and fashion.
Our tour starts with a walking and cycling tour of Hasselt and then ends in Bokrijk, which is located halfway between Hasselt and Genk. We will visit its park, which covers no less than 550 hectares and is only 8 kilometres away from the historical city centre of Hasselt. In particular we will show you one of the most interesting bike rides in the region, which is commonly known as "fietsen door het water". It is a unique cycling experience where you can cycle more than 200 metres across a pond, from one shore to the other, with a beautiful and unique view of the surrounding nature.
