These were (and still are) ahead of the curve. My 2000 Presidential Park Avenue had sentimental headlights, heads up display, heated leather seats, 2 memory settings that stored your seat position, favorite radio station and climate, dual climate control... Fuck, I think I might go buy another one.
We just bought an 03 Park Ave ultra For $1100, and it has 250K on it, runs and drives so Smoothly, Liked the vid, Tyler check out cars in northern Iowa, much cheaper here
A high point in my life was one day on Sunset Blvd. 308 Ferarri pulled up next to me and was ready to teach me and my 2005 Supercharged Ultra a lesson. Light at La Brea changed and we were off. Guess who got smoked. The Park Avenue Ultra was and is, one fine GM product.
My first nice car was a 1999 Oldsmobile Aurora, which was 4 years old at the time. I miss that car, but didn't miss the electric gremlins she had... She was quite quick though, which always screwed with my friends in their Hondas. Great video.
What a sweetheart of a car! I miss my '91 Park Avenue a lot! Love my Cadillac, but still miss my Park Avenue! I like my Buick Regal, but not as much as the Park Avenue!
People ask me all the time for used car advice around the 2k range and I always try to point them to one of these (the ultra or the regular version) and various other American luxury cars of that era. Those "grandpa cars" are tons of car for the money. Of course they hardly ever listen to me and instead end up with overpriced, ragged out Civics or Accords (around here people want way too much for a Civic with 190k and.a mismatches fender) but I do try.
james staggs i try to do the same thing when folks ask me about a reliable car. Bought a 96 4.6l Mercury cougar. Best 1100 spent. Paint still shines ac works perfect. It's good people don't care for these American barges because the prices are lower than Honda's and Toyotas with well over 100k miles.
Every newly-divorced woman around our way seems to buy a Subaru Forester, b/c they've been told the 4WD will "never leave them stranded somewhere (implied: without a man to bail them out)." They AREN'T told that those cars give worse fuel mileage AND are expensive to repair. EVERY such woman has a Forester, it's uncanny. It's apparently some kind of law; the used-car salesmen see them coming.
My 2nd car was a 96 Park Ave ultra, loved that thing! Mine had fold down vanity mirrors in the back seat it was sweet! Used smoke unsuspecting other Young folks. But it had 165000 miles and all the lines rotted out steering rack went out on it so sold it to my mechanic for 300 bucks. Biggest regret I have with a car to this day. Young and dumb I guess. The Rivera's of that era were also very special my mother in law had one and it was a thing of beauty. Love the videos dude keep up the good work.
I like simple, reliable and comfortable cars. Not these constipated angry looking but modest performing sedans, crossovers and SUV's. 2010's cars are such cancer.
I'm still driving my late dad's '99 Buick LeSabre Custom. I just crossed the 42K mile mark on the odometer . I love it and plan to continue driving it while reserving my Jeep 4x4 for winter driving.
David S yeah I thought that also. Also that wasn't until the early 2000s models. The Monte Carlo in the mid to late 90s wasn't supercharged at all. They only offered a 3.1 , 3.4 , and 3.8. None were supercharged and the 3.8 was hard to find. When they came out with the new body style thats when they finally offered 3.8 supercharged. But like you said it was only in the Nascar models.
@@Jay-jb2vr you know, I used to think the same way, but I've found that I had little to no issues with the Buicks as opposed to the Chevys and everything else.
I have a 2006 CXL Rendezvous.Nice leather seats, lots of room, and adequate to good power! Smoove ride, like driving a caddy! Great crossover suv! Also owned an 1994 Buick Lesabre Custom! Loved the 3.8 in that car! That car just kept on going! Great power!
I've been wanting a Reatta with the cathode ray CRT for years and now that I'm finally close to graduating from college and getting a decent paying job I might just have to pull the trigger and buy one. How has yours been from a reliability standpoint? It's tough to find info online being that it's so old and had such low volume production.
Max Sandy Max Sandy reliability engine wise is impeccable. Despite it being a sporty car it still is a Buick and therefore has a detuned engine. It has a pre series I 3800. The problem to look out for is the transmission. And the CRT displays are prone to failing. As far as my car goes, the only things wrong with it are an bad ABS sensor, a bad passenger side window motor, and the cassette deck doesn't work
Hamilton Dashcammer same here I have a 98 Buick pa Ultra it runs amazing jus my windows tweak some times and my abs light is on . Maybe be my front wheel bearing
Live your Buick man!!! I just got a running and driving 2001 S600 for $1680 on IAA. Ever want to collab?? I'm in OKC you're not far from me. I could use a hand lol.
I miss mine so much was my first car paid $1000 for it had 188,000 miles drove it to 250,000 before I wrecked it easy to work on reliable parts are kinda cheap loved the ride quality especially nothing will ever compare will find another 1 eventually that is show room quality and drive it till I die
My step dad had many buicks he loved. When him and my mom got together she had a white Buick la sabre. And they ended up with many buicks after that. Even refering to the last la sabre as 'the pappy car'. I had to drive the pappy car for a week while my dodge dakota was down it was awful. But kieth LOVED that pappy car. He actually passed away this year. Hit by someone drunk and high going way to fast. They were going so fast even the old boat(the pappy car) he drove couldn't save him.. his 1995 Buick la sabre looked like a crushed soda can..its been over 4 months. And it just isn't real yet.
My daily is a 2002 Pontiac Bonneville SLE. And let me just say, early 2000s GM is where it's at. I will forever love anything with the 3800 Series II in it. Even if mine lacks the much sought after supercharger.
Airbag suspension not so great, alternator air bags,,, he admits to 1k into the car... if he did the work himself, otherwise add another $750. Something else goes out tomorrow.
All old cars need some work, Buick parts are cheap, available, and usually easy to replace. You can replace damn near everything on these old buicks for the price of a handful of parts on a newer car (newer cars are painstakingly difficult to wrench on anyway). The only real deal-breaker for me with anything GM is that they rust faster than raw steel in a salt water lake, so you have to find one as rust free as possible and take the proper measures to keep it that way.
@@tednguyen2034 yes very reliable I change the oil pretty often as far as the engine goes it’s very reliable I’ve never had any issues I have to have the rear air ride struts converted into regular struts because the compressor shit the bed but that doesn’t matter to me
@@tednguyen2034 I agree man they also don’t make cars like they used to anymore and those 3800 engines are damn near bullet proof especially if you get the oil changed religiously
Hoovie, I love Buick boats, have had a LeSabre, a Lucerne, a Lacrosse (not such a boat). But because of you, I got nostalgic for the 90's and found a 1998 Oldsmobile Regency. 95K miles, $600, paint is great (and that's saying something in the salt belt), no body issues. It does leak every fluid that is in the car, though. Everyone thinks I'm crazy, but a blind squirrel can wrench on those old 3800's. And it has acres of leather and that smoooooth ride.
Fantastic Review! My Hubby just bought me a 2002 Buick Park Avenue Ultra for a little over $2000. It's a 1 owner... a little 80 something year old lady. It's cheap, it's not new, but it's quite a good deal. We pick it up in a couple of days. I honestly prefer a good older car over the newer ones I've had. This car is very well made, and still holds up after all of these years. It may not be a "cool" sport car, but it's dependable.
The belt replacement with the motor mount removal isnt really anymore expensive than a normal belt change. The mount only takes a few minutes to remove and all you need is a floor jack. GM 3.8 v6 is my favorite engine ever made. Watch the documentary "Black Air" on RUclips. Its about the Buick Grand National.
droopmodMRC got a 2004 Grand Prix gt 3.8 only mod was resonator removed and dual 2 1/2 inch stainless glass pack mufflers 35 mpg on highway , 400000 on the clock runs better than new gets any 5-40 synthetic that’s on sale and prime carquest oilfilter every 5000 miles and 6 oz motorkote. The engine burns no oil and I pump 4 quarts of transmission oil out of the transmission through the transmission dip stick tube spring and fall no transmission problems .

CivilGuy then Tyler will come out.
Who watches TV channels? What next, release an 8-Track or Atari 2600 cartridge?
Always wanted a Buick Ultra with the 3800 and supercharger. Really wanted to try the pillow top seats. Ahh.......
Oh the future, I can see you at Denny's clad in white orthopedic shoes ordering soft eggs with your Grand Slam.
B Bee weighing in 350lbs and with an oxygen tank next to him, connected to his nostrils.
White shoes to match the white wall tyres.
I have a 98 non ultra but I LOVE it. getting some rust now and has no muffler but it chooches just fine. Fully loaded and is very comfortable with red leather. 198000km
He is low key going to sell it in a week to buy another clapped out car
i know i said id never sell it but....
Like he did with the nsx
These were (and still are) ahead of the curve. My 2000 Presidential Park Avenue had sentimental headlights, heads up display, heated leather seats, 2 memory settings that stored your seat position, favorite radio station and climate, dual climate control... Fuck, I think I might go buy another one.
Man I love your sense of humor, there are lot of car reviewers but none of you,and you'll be surprised to have a fan from Pakistan, thumbs up for you.
I love my 2000 Buick Century! Bought it for $1900 with 63k miles! Diamond paint coated black, I get compliments at least twice a week!
Next Video: Racing my Buick Against My Elderly Neighbors' 90's Lincoln
with a few simple mods an mkviii would destroy his park avenue
Be nice, and don't pick on the under privileged. The 60 MPH speed limit sign at my barber shop has a footnote: "Fords, just do the best you can."
paulmaartin With a few mods..........lol
We just bought an 03 Park Ave ultra For $1100, and it has 250K on it, runs and drives so Smoothly, Liked the vid, Tyler check out cars in northern Iowa, much cheaper here
That is a great Gran Torino Eastwood impression - knew what you were doing immediately.
I think you should ditch the Clint Eastwood impression. Your Donn Knotts impression is way better!
Your old Man impersonation is Spot on.
Walt Kowalski lives!!
I miss my Buick so bad, it was a 1989 Park Avenue
My first nice car was a 1999 Oldsmobile Aurora, which was 4 years old at the time. I miss that car, but didn't miss the electric gremlins she had...
She was quite quick though, which always screwed with my friends in their Hondas. Great video.
You were thinking of Enclave. My grandma has one lol
Help! This is the third time I watch this video. The review AND the Clint Eastwood intro are both great.
Hoovie!!! Swap the pulley on the supercharger! You can easily crack 300hp with minimal mods on the L67
TheZProtocol details!!!
Can that be done with my 02 ultra ??? @TheZProtocol
@MrZep420 I use to have a 1998 Grand Marquis. *BEST CAR I EVER HAD!* That car just ran like the wind!
Love it. My brother has an '88 Lincoln Town Car. Long live the land yachts!
Uh oh he bought a Rolls didn’t he...
Harris Edenbaum No it was a Bentley
Aperson_named sorry, what was that?
Harris Edenbaum he bought a Bentley
And a rolls Royce as of 3 hours ago heheheh
Had two of these in my life. So comfortable and fun to drive. Time to hit search tempest.
I’m on my second park avenue. I love it
My dad had a burgundy one twenty years ago. It was an awesome car.
40 years later we will look up this video and compare how you look, lol.
I love how the volume knob moves when you hit the volume up and down buttons LOL.
"Get off my lawn" had me actually laughing out loud, especially the unexpected one at the end.
It's amazing what a fresh pair white wall tires will do! Keep them clean too, please.
I bought my son an '02 Buick Lesabre Custom got me so jealous everytime he drives the car off my driveway.
You’re so right! I’m tired of the sporty, “techy”, luxury mashups of today! Lexus IS down the tube. Used to be great.
Bryn Waddell in my eyes Cadillac hasn't made a real Cadillac since 96 for that reason
Shut the f* up, tech and modern are better.
Fast forward 6 months: I'm selling my Buick Park Avenue Ultra, here's why
Y4123 6 days*
Lmao
That's the truth. Ol Hoovie isn't happy until he buys some "treasure" that needs a loads 'o work.
Then regrets it because it was his most reliable car.
YOU are the one who did this!
Man, that intro was one of the best things I've ever seen on RUclips!
You look like saabkyle grand father
haaaa he does. needs a panther.
He has a Grand Marquis, not a Park Avenue.
Clams McGee wow that’s something to know, how tf do you know what you gm vajina look like. That’s disgusting 🤢🤢🤮🤮
One of the most entertaining videos I've ever seen on RUclips
The Monte Carlo SS was not supercharged unless it was a NASCAR version. The 3.8 was a buick designed motor. Don’t give Chevy credit for it haha
Chevy's V6s the 3.1 and 3.4 generally were trash.
Exactly the 3800 was entirely cause of the good engineers of Buick way back in the day
Meh they're all from GM so
@@Jay-jb2vr you know, I used to think the same way, but I've found that I had little to no issues with the Buicks as opposed to the Chevys and everything else.
I drive an old Buick as my daily. A 1989 Buick Reatta with every available option
Christopher M it's funny cause my passenger window has issues and my ABS light is on too XD
RetroGuy76 that's the case with my ABS light. The sensor needs replacing
I love that body style and want an ultra in the era I got my license in a 92 park Avenue and I fell in love with these big Buicks soon after.
Live your Buick man!!! I just got a running and driving 2001 S600 for $1680 on IAA. Ever want to collab?? I'm in OKC you're not far from me. I could use a hand lol.
hey
And it just isn't real yet.
sad very sad
@SDD525 According to the original poster, he was drunk and high. Your argument doesn't really work too well with what she was saying.
My daily is a 2002 Pontiac Bonneville SLE. And let me just say, early 2000s GM is where it's at. I will forever love anything with the 3800 Series II in it. Even if mine lacks the much sought after supercharger.
"I'm Keeping My Buick Park Avenue Ultra Forever"...yeah except your latest video reveals you sold it off. What a stupid move...
@@jparry9633 replace airbags with regular coil suspension
He will never have much in life if that's all he does
@@realisticfsxpilot2215 i think this guy will be ok
My parents had one of those Buicks. It was the Ultra edition as well. Such a smooth riding car and pretty quick, for a land yacht!
got a 97 park avenue with 146,000 miles on it runs like new
reliable?
@@tednguyen2034 yes very reliable I change the oil pretty often as far as the engine goes it’s very reliable I’ve never had any issues I have to have the rear air ride struts converted into regular struts because the compressor shit the bed but that doesn’t matter to me
no need to spend stupid amounts of money on new cars...I just bought a 03 buick lesabre on craigslist for 2k...lol
@@tednguyen2034 I agree man they also don’t make cars like they used to anymore and those 3800 engines are damn near bullet proof especially if you get the oil changed religiously
@@tednguyen2034 and car insurance is cheaper for older cars which is also cool
I discovered hoovie from this video bc I bought a 99 ultra (that I love) now I can't stop watching his videos 🤣
6:24 Should have left the "flatulent sounding" blend door, and told passengers it was the sounds of the deceased owner.
"A giant beige grandpa car that hauls" 🤣
I used to have a '98 Buick Lesabre, it was fantastic. It was like driving around on my living room sofa
