Thanks so much for posting these. Loved that show and was amazed to see it all here, and with no ads! I'm sure I'm not the only one who appreciated it. :-)
I'd never heard of this show (being a Brit it's easy to see why) I learned about it from a link I followed on a Facebook thread, can't even remember what the thread was, but I binge watched all 7 episodes, what a great show, full of laughs, with a couple of lump in the throat moments too, like you, I'm amazed this was ever 'allowed' to be aired, it doesn't even appear to be 'that long ago' as some of the tech and stuff seemed kinda contemporary
@@truckingscouser 'm still a teacher Australia. I was amazed by that show. We all loved .It was shown very late at night here-very obscure, so I guess many people never saw it. :-(
@@TERRYBIGGENDEN I didn't know till I checked the IMDB that there was actually 2 series of this made, so I binge watched the other episodes last night 😁
Had a couple of teachers like Gormsby at Auckland Grammar and before the cane was abolished. Gormsby was right, they are the teachers I remember....things went to shit after they banned caning/discipline.
Yep. When you are laughing your arse off it sometimes takes a moment's reflection to realize just how biting the satire of racism, bigotry etc really is. ;-)
What an amazing series, funny, poignant and surreal at times and with a talented cast. Why the BBC, here in the UK, has never bought and broadcast it is beyond me! And Mr Gormsby's Wolsesley car is very rare. I suspect the Wolsesley version were only ever made in Australia and New Zealand, certainly never in the UK.
TheKeithelliott You may be right - the more broad-minded folk here have become, the more bigotted and vocal the PC Brigade have become. The newspapers even write the words like crap (in the sense of rubbish - 'it's crap!') with asterisks in the middle! Twitter and Facebook don't help.
The Wolseley 6/110 certainly WAS produced in the UK from the late fifties to the mid sixties along with it's BMC stablemates the Austin A110 Westminster and the Vanden Plas 3 litre. It used the BMC 'C' series straight six engine which also powered the Austin Healey 3000 sports car. Some have been preserved but their suitability for Banger Racing meant that most went out in a blaze of glory in the seventies.
Surprisingly touching! Gormsby and 5F genuinely respected each other.

Glad you enjoyed it!
Agree with what you say but there is no way you could broadcast that in the UK - wwwaaayyy too un-pc.

I saw a Wolsesley when I was living on South Humberside (near Hull). It was green. Love this show.
