you don't need to immerse the idol in water. you can keep the statue at home. the fruits can be eaten and flowers can be thrown away.

u cam immerse the idol in a new bucket of water or just use a large cooking pot. this water after the idol disperses can then be poured into the ground near any plant or tree.

Why say "skanda purana"? Why not spell it correctly as it is pronounced as "skand puran" without the "A"'s at the end of each word?

That is Sanskrit. Pronouncing without the “a” at the end is not allowed in Sanskrit. Hindi is known for deleting vowels everywhere.

    The fairy tale of Ganpati:
    1. Angry shiva cuts off the head of a boy. (what a god who cuts off childrens head)
(Proves that he does not know everything, so he is not omniscient and neither is Parvati)
    2. To amend he orders cutting off the head of any other living being and getting it and fixing it on ganpatis neck. (wow shiva has no logic?
if he is "powerful", he should have picked the head that he just cut and paste back.
Conclusion : all gods are only man-made fairy tales. There is no god

cécile stevens what you have said is true but the thing is in a marriage of shiva and Parvati Parvati has a right of keeping her own secrets. Also Parvati mata is adishakti Ganesh was made in the absence of shiva so he didn’t know about his own son unless mata Annapurneshwari tells him herself . It says a woman has her own personal space even in marriage . It also teaches u that when u don’t know the whole truth you shouldn’t make a decision .

This tory of Lord ganesha as you have heard it is either incomplete or wrong because the original story teaches you a very important moral. also, the cutting of the head is symbolic in so many ways, rather than being an actual beheading. you can interpret the story which ever way you want to, but the moral it teaches you is still the same.
Lord Shiva, or Mahadev as we call him, is one of the 3 main Gods of Hinduism. Being one aspect of the Trinity (creator, protector and destroyer), Lord Shiva is omnipotent and Omnipresent and there is nothing that he is not aware of even if he isn't present at the place.
The lesson we need to learn from this story is that a person's ego is his greatest weakness and from that ego stems all the bad qualities a person may have. Lord Shiva's cutting off Ganesha's head is symbolic of cutting off and destroying Ganesha's ego, that blinded Ganesha to the actual identity of Lord Shiva and led him to believe arrogantly that he could defeat anyone who threatened to disturb his mother. his love for his mother was never in question, neither was his obedience or duty to her. his pride and arrogance caused his downfall. Lord Shiva wanted everyone to learn that even his own son was not exempt from false ego or punishment for sins. And by restoring an elephant's head (note that elephants are considered very sacred, wise, humble, patient, strong and gentle since the ancient times), he removed all false ego residing in the human mind and thereby helped his son change from an arrogant child to an all wise one. he shows us that as parents, no matter how much we love our child, it is our duty to correct their behavior and help them grow into respectable, wise and we'll mannered adults. it's the job of the parents to show their children the right path.
It's a highly debatable topic and one can argue about this as one sees fit. but these stories from our epics and ancient texts are never really about violence. They are more about teaching important lessons needed for the purification of ones soul.
if u are interested in reading more about these epics and stories and their meanings, there are several books, youtube videos and websites and blogs out there on thr Internet that explain it all. it's all just a click away ^_^

cécile stevens Regarding your point 2, he doesn't stick the same head back on because it defeats the purpose of chopping off the egoistic head in the first place. and he glued the head of an elephant because the elephant is not a simple elephant. that elephant is actually an asura (demon race) who took the form of an elephant to meditate on Lord Shiva for thousands of years. as a boon for his penance, the elephant asura asked that he may reside with Lord Shiva in his abode Kailash forever. However, since an Asura is unable.to reside in the abode of a devta (god) Lord Shiva had asked him to wait at the foothills of Kailash and had promised to call him when the right time came. And the elephant asura waited patiently for thousands of years because he believed with complete faith that his Lord would call for him one day. And during the Ganesha episode, when the Lord did call upon him, the asura happily agreed to give up his body if it meant that his mind would forever be a part of the Lord's son and thereby, he could forever see and hear his Lord through his own eyes and ears and be near him always.

And regarding point 1, there are several versions to the story about why Devi Parvati made Ganesha guard the door to her chambers. the most common is that she was taking a bath and didn't want to be disturbed. and one of the less common ones is that she was performing a puja for the safety and protection of her son, and once she started with the puja (worship) she couldn't get up from.her seat before the whole puja was completed.
so even though she was aware of what was happening on the outside, she couldn't act upon it or interfere in any way even if she chose to because that would mean that she would breach the code the puja ritual demanded.
