Congrats, and great result! Nutrition/hydration is the fourth discipline! Make sure you include electrolytes in your nutrition plan! And Zealios for sunblock!
Thank you 🙏 Yes! 👏 great advice 😂 I should have trained with a proper nutrition plan/ gotten my body used to using certain gels! Also the sunblock 🧴 is key! I still have a mad farmers tan from this race that won’t go away! I have been applying sunblock to non tanned areas to see if I can get it to balance out 🪦🪦😂
I’ve really enjoyed several of your videos. You remind me of my son. He’s a great guy like yourself. Excellent production and congratulations on becoming an Iron Man.
That’s probably a smart idea 😂 before you know it you will be on 2nd, 3rd race. The training process gets addicting 👍 I just finished one this Sunday. Anyway, best of luck! 🤞
Well done mate, huge effort! Thanks for the video. I'm training for my first marathon in November and thinking about entering Ironman Taupo 70.3 in 2024.
It was a great race. The second lap of the run was the worst ... it was like being in no man's land ... it was a hard run to be honest and my worst performing sport even though I am more of a runner that anything else. It was great to see the you tube guy running around the course. Will you try another one?
That’s awesome to hear 😂🫡 I am glad you had a good race! Yes sir, I am hooked 😂 the goal is to do another one in December out in California near Palm Springs. What about you?
@@the_silver_liningg Yes, but my next events will be running events. I want to improve my half marathon and marathon times. But I will be looking to do another one maybe by the end of the year or early next year. One day I may find the courage to do a full one.
Thank you for sharing your experience, I have signed for my first Half Ironman too and it is the same race in Galveston (70.3 Half IM Texas). I am excited but also worried about the swim part, do you recommend for opting in for the wetsuit? It seems like this year it won't be that cold, but the wetsuits won't be restricted most likely.
You got this! Good luck 🍀 it’s coming up! Also side not make sure you get some swims in with the wetsuit so you can figure out how it should feel when it’s on right. If it’s on wrong you are going to feel like you can’t swim 👍🫡
@@the_silver_liningg Thank you! I really appreciate your response. I've got a wetsuit and ready for the event! You are right, the wetsuit makes so much difference and adds confidence in open water swim!
I want to sign up to a 70.3 that's 10 weeks from now. I know i can do the swim and run, because there are no cutoff times, but I'm worried about the bike. Since there's no cutoff times, is it realistic I finish the 90km bike?? (I'm an OK cyclist- on a casual training session I've done 30kms) been biking for a few months. (Running for 16 yrs)
@@na-dk9vm yeah I think you will be fine 🤷♂️ just verify with the cutoff time. I think it’s typically 8:30 for a 70.3 👀 I think it’s depends on which race you are doing 👍
Hey Jamal! 😂 Haha, you've hit the nail on the head with the 'call of nature' question! Indeed, there are portable royal thrones (aka porta potties) strategically placed like checkpoints along both the bike and run routes. However, since I am slow 🐌 I'm in no rush and I stopped. Now, as for our competitive comrades, they've mastered the art of 'going' without actually going anywhere, if you know what I mean. I guess when the race is on, every second counts. 😂😂

Thank you sir :) I appreciate it!
Appreciate the tips. I'm racing my first 70.3 next month. I hadn't thought about getting a race belt but I will now!
That’s awesome 👏 Good luck! 👍 Glad I could help!
Thanks for the tips! Love the channel, keep up the good work.
Thank you Greg 😃🙏
Yay!!! So proud of you!
Thanks for sharing. It helps.

@@the_silver_liningg I’m training for 2026 europe summer. And watching everything I can about Ironman
@andreistoleriu3406 That’s awesome! Do you know what race you are doing or aiming for? 👀👀 so many cool races out there!
@@the_silver_liningg being the first time I will choose an “easy” one. And where the temperature is between 19-25 C. Thanks for asking ^_^

Hey Zairogenv! For sure get the wetsuit 🎉 they make you buoyant and actually help you out a ton through the swim 😀

really up to you my brother did this race this year and didnt use a wetsuit, granted we were both comp swimmers when younger but still.
Will you kindly make a video on how would you pack your bike next time around to avoid the things you mentioned?
That is a great Idea 😂 I might be traveling with the bike soon, If I do i'll for sure make that video! :) Thanks for the suggestion!
Good job 👏🏼
Dang called me out on the brick runs 😂
😅😅😅

@@the_silver_liningg I emailed today and they said there no cutoff at all. It's only a 70.3 but not an ironman brand 70.3

What size is your Roka tri suit? We have similar body types. Also is it worth it?
Hey Bryan! I went with the regular Large! I am 5'11 and weigh about 182 lb. The suit fits me well 👍
Congratulations what was your time?
