The original Pictomancer! I've wanted to arrange her theme for a while. I was inspired to get around to it when the new FFXIV Dawntrail job was announced. I tried my best to imitate the bagpipes. :)

Wonderful interpretation of the song. I'm glad you included the elements of discord in the song as I think much of the beauty of the song comes from the contrast between those two elements.

You can never go wrong with a track from Final Fantasy VI. This one is especially peaceful, though; perfect for background ambience.
I've always felt Relm's theme often went overlooked, compared to the rest of the iconic songs from 6. But ever since hearing it 30 years ago from that SNES cart, I've loved this song, and John's rendition did it great justice.

Still, always, the best Final Fantasy ever made. Soundtrack is amazing.
Damn, another incredible arrangement. The little compromises are almost invisible, but you managed to capture the quirky blue notes ornaments that bring the melody to life. The timbral shift for the little minor key section at 0:42 to soft arpeggios was a great choice.
My wedding was a couple weeks ago, and a short selection of your music was played before the ceremony as guests were being seated. It was a lovely way to start a beautiful day.

Great one to break out just before Dawntrail! Some FF9 would be good too probably.
I always loved that partially dissonant note at 0:34. In the original it sounds more like a bend up to the more "pleasant" note, but the way you hammer-on here sounds great too.

So I'm noticing that your 3 high strings are a different color. Are they a different material or something to allow you to get a different sound for the bagpipe part? Whatever it was, I'd say it was effective; it sounded like 2 different guitars were playing.
I wonder if he half strung it with metal strings, to give that different resonance... That's my guess. Classical guitar strings are a different material and have a cleaner sound... Or is simply just from using hammer ons/pull offs (guitar fingering techniques, essentially.)

A pack of classical nylon strings will often be like this. All 6 strings are nylon and clear, but the 3 largest/lowest strings will be wound in some kind of metal like silver-plated copper.
@@WillRose3 ahhhh thank you!! I've never seen classical strings, but knew they were nylon based while others were some sort of metal. I didn't know classical can also have a variation. It definitely gives it a different sound.
@@t3hsis324 there's a lot more variation than I was aware of too. I looked it up after and apparently the treble strings (the highest 3) can be nylon, black nylon, titanium, or carbon among others. The bass strings are typically wound though. You can see them up close at the very start of this video. There's another nice shot at 2:03 of the strings on the headstock.

@@JohnOethGuitar tough choice! I would probably not watch the trailer… I wanna stay as uninformed as possible, but the classes looked good from the media tour.
