Shop is looking great, Man! Smart idea on the screws for your insulation. We used the capped nails and we can’t remove them without destroying the insulation board. Looks like you’ve got an awesome workspace! Congratulations!
Thanks bro! The shop came out really nice! It’s pretty much exactly what I envisioned it which took a TON of planning as you know. There’s only a few small things I woulda changed knowing what I know now. The insulation I used screws on so if I ever had to take a pannel down to do work or to replace a broken or bad sheet I could easily unscrew it and replace it. Nails do the trick too that’s what my father used years ago but like you said it just sucks to have to destroy the sheets to get them back down but you could always try pulling the nails first which may work!

I have two suggestions... one I have in my shop and love and the other is a wish. I have a dedicated curcuit 50' 12 ga retractable power cord mounted on a rafter, which is very handy. It sure has been a TON of work, specially like you say with trying to calculate everything so closely, trying to measure to make sure my 2 post lift is gonna fit where I want it when I eventually buy one and to make sure my outlets are properly planned out and such. It’s been a project but I’m just thankful it’s almost over haha. As for the extension cord reel for the ceiling I do plan on doing this which was why I chose to make the curling outlets 12 gauge on a 20 amp breaker so even with a 50’ extension cord reel I will still be able to pull plenty of amps with out blowing the breaker. As for the ceiling fan I plan to do that as well! Prolly mid summer I’ll do that when I can’t take the heat anymore.. and it will double for the winter when I can use it to keep the hot air down low so I can stay even warmer! Snow is finally all melted! This winter has been a crazy one, get loads of snow and then in a few weeks in warms up and all melts away.. then we get another pounding just so it can all melt again 🙄 I hope your doing well Rick and I’m glad you enjoyed the shop tour!

Thanks man! The furring strips were a game changer for sure, I’m really glad I decided to use them, in the end they saved me alot of money and hassle with the wiring and cleaned up the insulation nicely! Stay tuned for the next video!
It's coming along nicely. Figuring out where you want everything, and the future things you don't know you want yet is the tough part. I used conduit, so I cut them in half, and put outlets every 5 feet, and surprisingly, I have things plugged into most outlets. Putting them there now is much easier than adding them later. A cheap ceiling fan to help push the heated air down would be a good idea too. Another thing I didn't plan for was a winch on the ceiling. They come in handy, but you need to build in the extra bracing for it before you get all the insulation on the ceiling.

Yes your right it is very tough figuring out where things should go specially when you have future plans to buy other things and your trying to think ahead so you don’t have to keep changing the whole layout around.. but I assume it’s just gonna take awhile. I figure out a little more each day as I try things in certain places to see where they fit and make the most sense.. slowly but surely. As for a Crain winch in the ceiling I do plan to do this, I’ll have to install an I-beam or something similar first tho.. but that’s way down the road. I will be adding a ceiling fan as well as the electrical extension cord on a reel on the ceiling.. those two things are gonna be great to have. I think I have outlets roughly every 6-7’. I don’t have as many places to put them in a pole barn as a stick building. Thanks Dave! The insulation board is def the best thing I could come up with and the cheapest as well if you get second hand insulation like I did from market place. It’s not hard to put up either and is easy to cut for the most part. As for the garage doors.. Home Depot sells a garage door insulation kit on their website that I’m gonna get for both doors, I won’t be installing that till prolly next fall tho as money is now tight and I’m running out of time before spring. I meant to mention this in the video but the video was getting too long so I cut that part out. Hope your doing good buddy!
@@BiffsEquipment all good here. Had a knee replaced in November, the night before the first storm. Nothing worse than watching snow pile up and not being able to do a thing about it. Thankfully the neighbor and I take care of each other with our tractors and he kept me open. All good now! Stay well my friend!

That's an Awesome shop your building cause even at 70 there is nothing like going out to mine and just sitting around the hot wood stove and relaxing or do one of many little projects or working off some things on The Honey Do List which never ends. I was wondering if you have given any thought to another or bigger tractor down the road. I'm only at 110 hours on my 3 year old BX which I'm sure you do each month or more.

Awesome show man. I've always loved your videos. I recently attempted to build a makeshift shed for my BX using T-Posts, cattle panels. pvc piping and 6mm plastic. However the plastic got blown off during a big wind storm. What cost efficient suggestions would you possibly have to store my tractor and implements? I have my tractor in my shop right now (Temporary) but most the implements are sitting outside with plastic trying to cover them... Keep the vids coming man.
Hey thanks for the compliment Dave I’m glad to hear you enjoy my videos so much! I’m sad I havnt been able to put out more in the last year and have been too busy due to this pole barn project but thankfully it’s almost over now! As for your storage situation, If funds are low I would go to harbor freight and buy yourself 1 or 2 of their storage tents.. they make one that’s a 10x15 I think and another one that’s like 16x20. Nice size storage tents where you can lag them down to a concrete pad, or if you don’t have concrete you can secure it into the ground and then use pallets with OSB plywood for the floor and make a ramp out of wood or dirt to put your tractor and attachments in it.. I did this for many years before buying my pole barn and the tent has held up great! Just be sure to buy the extended warentee that way if a wind storm ruins it you Can just pull the canvas off and have it swapped out free of charge I Believe. Mines been standing for 4 years and still is in great shape with almost no holes in it. Let me know what you end up doing, best of luck!

Not telling you what to do, but every 120 VAC receptacle in that shop is required to have GFCI protection. And in my professional opinion, one really should have it. You can do it for about $25/ckt. (DIY) from the first receptacle in each ckt., or install a GFCI breaker, which would be ~$60/ea. (DIY).
Thanks buddy, I actually plan to install a GFCI breaker for each of these. I’m glad you said something to remind me. Eventually I’m gonna be running two outside outlets as well which will also be GFCI, but I get what your saying about keeping the row of outlets going down my wall protected by either a GFCI outlet on the first outlet or a GFCI breaker instead.
The Titanium mig 140 is no joke prolly one of the best if not THE best welders for the money specially if you get it on sale.. if you want one that’s 110 and 220 then go for the mig 170 but Iv been using the mig 140 for a few years now and if you go down through my videos you’ll see a TON of fabrication work Iv done with it, Iv done some really big welding jobs and it’s never let me down. I push it well beyond the duty cycle all the time which is hard on the inverter and it doesn’t even care. I HIGHLY recommend it. I use a Miller and a Hobart at work both on 110v and the titanium mig 140 blows them both out of the water both in weld quality and weld thickness.. puts out enough heat to weld up 3/8” thick metal 👍🏻

Hey Ross, yah that’s another thing I forgot to mention in the video, I will be installing a 2 post rotory lift .. prolly a 12,000-15,000lb lift right between both doors.. I poured the floor thicker in the two areas where the lift posts will go so the floor won’t crack with the weight and stress and measured it out to where it should JUST fit inbetween my doors and beteeen the wall and the floor drain.. I hope… but this won’t be coming till prolly next year sometime as I need to recover from all the money I spent

As for the bottom of my jeans yah I agree that’s the only way to do it. These damn jeans these days are all so “Skinny” I can’t stand it. What ever happened to a proper boot cut?!

Awesome show man. I've always loved your videos. I recently attempted to build a makeshift shed for my BX using T-Posts, cattle panels. pvc piping and 6mm plastic. However the plastic got blown off during a big wind storm. What cost efficient suggestions would you possibly have to store my tractor and implements? I have my tractor in my shop right now (Temporary) but most the implements are sitting outside with plastic trying to cover them... Keep the vids coming man.
Hey thanks for the compliment Dave I’m glad to hear you enjoy my videos so much! I’m sad I havnt been able to put out more in the last year and have been too busy due to this pole barn project but thankfully it’s almost over now!
As for your storage situation, If funds are low I would go to harbor freight and buy yourself 1 or 2 of their storage tents.. they make one that’s a 10x15 I think and another one that’s like 16x20. Nice size storage tents where you can lag them down to a concrete pad, or if you don’t have concrete you can secure it into the ground and then use pallets with OSB plywood for the floor and make a ramp out of wood or dirt to put your tractor and attachments in it.. I did this for many years before buying my pole barn and the tent has held up great! Just be sure to buy the extended warentee that way if a wind storm ruins it you Can just pull the canvas off and have it swapped out free of charge I Believe. Mines been standing for 4 years and still is in great shape with almost no holes in it.

Not telling you what to do, but every 120 VAC receptacle in that shop is required to have GFCI protection. And in my professional opinion, one really should have it. You can do it for about $25/ckt. (DIY) from the first receptacle in each ckt., or install a GFCI breaker, which would be ~$60/ea. (DIY).
Thanks buddy, I actually plan to install a GFCI breaker for each of these. I’m glad you said something to remind me. Eventually I’m gonna be running two outside outlets as well which will also be GFCI, but I get what your saying about keeping the row of outlets going down my wall protected by either a GFCI outlet on the first outlet or a GFCI breaker instead.
how do you like the harbor freight welder I been thinking of getting one but wasn't sure how it would hold up.
The Titanium mig 140 is no joke prolly one of the best if not THE best welders for the money specially if you get it on sale.. if you want one that’s 110 and 220 then go for the mig 170 but Iv been using the mig 140 for a few years now and if you go down through my videos you’ll see a TON of fabrication work Iv done with it, Iv done some really big welding jobs and it’s never let me down. I push it well beyond the duty cycle all the time which is hard on the inverter and it doesn’t even care. I HIGHLY recommend it. I use a Miller and a Hobart at work both on 110v and the titanium mig 140 blows them both out of the water both in weld quality and weld thickness.. puts out enough heat to weld up 3/8” thick metal 👍🏻

Hey Ross, yah that’s another thing I forgot to mention in the video, I will be installing a 2 post rotory lift .. prolly a 12,000-15,000lb lift right between both doors.. I poured the floor thicker in the two areas where the lift posts will go so the floor won’t crack with the weight and stress and measured it out to where it should JUST fit inbetween my doors and beteeen the wall and the floor drain.. I hope… but this won’t be coming till prolly next year sometime as I need to recover from all the money I spent
