Nice video Les some good unusual captures there and yes the 70 0n the rear of the logs was a suprise could of .been an after thought thinking that pair of 56s could expire at any time the amount of clag they were chucking out lol thanks for sharing Les take care matey a t .b syd 👍
A guid new year to you, Les. 8:20 A repurposed 'Pushmi-Pullyu' of Dr. Dolittle perhaps? 20:00->20:20. What caused that noise as the train accelerated out of CAR? It reminded me of a Glasgow Standard car pulling away from a tram stop. 21:15 That 397 looks as though it has been on RHTT duties.😀
Definitely an interesting mix, but all the classics were there, too! So great zooms and angles, and that one train with a couple heavy duty pulls looked massive.
Ahh the 70 on the back of the logs train was the interesting surprise you were telling me to wait for😂😂 Per usual great video, I can’t make the railtour today sadly but it was nice seeing you again.
Another cracking video leslie very good camera work as usual I am really looking forward to seeing your next video I hope you get a nice video next time also when is your next video going to be on RUclips bye for now Philip
Happy New year Les. Great to have you out and about. The sun is low and weather isn't good, so not great for stills photography. Any idea why they put the logs down the WCML sometimes?
Excellent footage as always Les. I'm puzzled though. 6 years since I was last in Carlisle (I will be there this year though) The Pendos used to squeal like a stuck pig leaving P4, now there is barely a sound. What's different, or have you managed to tune it out of the recordings?
Another great video. Carlisle still puts a show on, judging by the variation in trains comming through. May consider popping over from Newcastle. Are there any days/times when the freight are more frequent. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks! It's becoming more apparent that after 12 for the 6k05 drs engineers train and the logs at 1300 then time for lunch until 1500 for the DB engineers train followed by one from Tyne yard then 1630 for two intermodals and one or two mail trains before you get a train back after 530. I'm finding Tuesday's and Thursday are better these days .
Once again congratulations on some great photographic shots.
Many thanks!

And to you. It was just the sound of the wagons running in good order - no wheel flats etc.
glad you enjoyed
happy new year from norway
And to you! Thanks for watching
Excellent as usual Leslie. Nice start to 2024😊
Thanks Euan and surprisingly more to come!
Superb scenes from Carlisle to start the year Leslie. Looking forward to more of your videos during 2024. Cheers, Jeff.
Thanks Jeff. Looking forward to yours too
Thanks for sharing👍🏻 have a great weekend.
Thank you! You too!

Thanks Anthony!
Your videos are the best to watch
I really appreciate that, thanks!

Thanks! It wasn't the best weather today - I went to Lazonby (no fog) and Penrith (foggy).
No wonder they put 2 56's on the front with the 70 dead weight on the back. Great catch Leslie...all the best.
Thanks Tim. The pair of grids have been on since Christmas.

Are there any unique trains soon or special trains?
Saturday excursion from the S&C avoiding Carlisle station, following Saturday is steam an electric excursion later in the month
I think that when the logs get to Chirk it reverses there so by having the 70 on the back means they save on uncoupling
No, it's unusual. The 70 must have been dropped off somewhere en route. First time I've seen it like that.
Video sao muito bom leslie
Thanks!
Happy New year Les. Great to have you out and about. The sun is low and weather isn't good, so not great for stills photography. Any idea why they put the logs down the WCML sometimes?
Thanks! I think the logs go that way when the train is late at the timber yard to guarantee getting it's slot beyond Farringdon junction at Preston.

Thanks! The squealing is from wheels rubbing against the rails. It doesn't occur in wet weather, presumably the wet rails are effectively lubricated

I find Thursday is the best day usually, in summer there is also often charters on a Thursday
Interesting vid as always. What's happened to all the 90's?
Thanks! Only Freightliner and LSL have them, I think. DB are getting rid, if they haven't already.
Chirk logs and the car -Crewe engineers down mainline and not S&C .??
Logs does have a mainline path if its late off the yard. The DB engineers always routed WCML.
That late running TPE at the end was filthy. And typically running less than the full distance. Terrible company!
It had run from Glasgow to Lockerbie somehow, I suspect without a train manager. And even then it was late. They don't help themselves
