In this lesson we're going to look at a technique that many players find tricky - The single finger sliding trill which I refer to as a shake.

Thanks so much. I was searching quite a while for a lesson on this technique and just did not know what it is called.
Same. Pure luck that I found it
"That sound like this" 0:19
*Proceeds to play the smoothest, most amazing sounding bass line*
Ohhhhhhhhh boy, if you think that's amazing soundin' and smooth, check out people like Joe Dart, and Thundercat if you don't know them already
Joe Dart is just-- Well, he'll casually pull out bass fills/solos out of heaven pretty much.
And Thundercat? He's just *the* bass wizard. That man will do things with his bass that you have NEVER heard in your life
@@justyouraveragehumanbeing7411 My original post was exaggerated a bit, but it still sounded great. Mark is a really good player from the limited pieces I've heard him play. I've heard Joe Dart and completely agree. He's been playing most of his life, so it's no wonder he sounds that good. I haven't heard Thundercat
Best video I've seen on this technique!!
always amazingly useful content explained in a comprehensible way - thank you Mark
seems every bass player has a different name for this. ive heard scott call it a sting. ive heard it called the grease. i think i will call it a swoodle. in fact lets have a competition to come up with the best name for it once and for all.
Sudowoodo
Lol, I know it's an older vid but agree. I've always heard it called a shake and occasionally adding some grease. That SBL vids title I thought it was going to be about Sting the legend not the shake.
Punch Down King 😂😂
Mr Bungle I think that is what I first thought as well ( or maybe the Robert Redford/Paul Newman film 😂) by the way Mr Bungle 👍👍👍 Mike Patton, love faith no more too. 👍
@@klisher yeah The Sting the movie, I get ya. Yeah FNM are awesome and MP is brilliant. Cheers
Beautiful content and very complete! Thanks for sharing!
There’s no instruction on this interesting technique anywhere, thank you!!
Yeeeeep!
I was reading a transcription of a Joe Dart bass solo/fill (the "JOE, GET ME OUT OF THIS MESS!" one, and was wondering what the TR meant.. Thank you very much, this video helped a lot.
Great video, Mark!!!
You can also use it between Fifth (G) and Fifth Flat (F#) (When in C, that means going from C5 or Cm to Cdim) to get that wicked sound that's really popular in today's music...
Really Nice ..thanks
A song that uses this really well is звёзды останутся здесь
Thanks
haven't seen a soundgear bass for a while
I have one i got on Craigslist in 2014 for $50, and I don't know how long it had existed before then. Just today I received my Ibanez TMB100 and I love it! Point being, I have a soundgear bass and I liked it. LOL It sounds good and has worked well for my purposes.
Very nice Mark thanks , the banger lady is getting on my nerves.
are you still getting that. ive been following your saga for months. good luck sorting that out.
she said I'm playing my music too loud ,
I told her its my bass guitar you hear , she dont understand.
Which one is this bass?
♥️
I thought that it was a vibrato side ways on one fret only😂😅
¿Does anyone know how to notate a single finger shake on sheet music? Help!
It’s a TR with a squiggly line above the staff.

Why can't I get this. When I play "Just a touch of love" by Slave, I play it pretty well, with the exception of my sliding on it like Mark Adams does on the song, and it kills me. I've only been playing a few months, but I'm a pretty fast learner. Except for when it comes to sliding. And my darn fingers get sore. I know I'm doing something wrong. It should not be this hard for me.
If you’ve only been playing a few months you will be having problems with most things even if you don’t realise it. There’s no shame in struggling with slides.

Ok, using an index finger in one thing(a.k.a child's play), but what about them shakes with ur pinky? They're truly a bitch to master
