I love listening to these while reading and meditating in the evening. I'm currently reading the mindfulenss book 30 Days to Reduce Stress by Harper Daniels and playing this. Feels so good and peaceful :)
On a road out of town there is an old shrine, like a little wooden shed elevated on its little pedestal. There is nothing inside. I wonder what little deity used to reside there, and why they are gone now. They grass gets taller all the time and I watch the shrine slowly shrink into itself, it looks like it is ashamed to be there, like the nature is what's important and it has no place, because it's effigy is gone, like it's reason to exist is gone. The post has started leaning, and now when I go past in the rain it drips heavily from the narrow sill. It's creating a furrow in the soft earth and the grass leans over the puddle. Then the other morning I saw my little silent friend leaning over his little puddle and I felt like he had found some peace with his place. The grass, the water reflecting sky, morning dew twinkling on long blades and creating tiny gems suspended on spiderweb in the cool air. I don't know, there was definitely a change. I went over to see closer, smiling like a weirdo, and as I approached a flurry of wings startled me, a finch sped away flying low over the bushes, made me look up at the place where the treetops met the morning sky. The clouds were lit a pale amber by the rising sun, and I saw in their colossal and floofy underbellies a familiar sight. The light and shadow were creating a slim archway, the leading edge of one cloud forming a shrine of light against the trailing edge of another. I was astounded, and stood still waiting for the image to fade as the clouds parted, never to form that moment ever again, nor to ever be aware of what it could possibly mean. And the moment passed. And the sky brightened, but it was only brighter, not filled with light. Like seeing someone smile can brighten, but seeing the right person smile can make you feel the light. I wished that everything would end then so I would not have to miss that feeling and that moment forever. But nothing ever really ends, and the feeling passed. And now I get to feel it all whenever I have the time to give myself that memory. I can open the box in my mind and take out the picture of my emotions, and I am at the shrine, and I feel like maybe there was never a statue inside it. Maybe the shrine honoured someone outside the shrine. Pretty funny I guess
