I feel the same since I think the mk.3 was used in desert storm and not the mk.2 but it's Gaijin.

on one hand, a new premium for britain that will complement its lineup with a competitive tank
on the other hand, br/repair costs might be reduced because win rates and new players will not be able to play the tank correctly dying 9/10 times

Hm maybe, I am all foward for the reduced repair costs. Having an entire lineup with tanks costing 8k+ in repair costs is really frustrating and painful.

in the end they will only reduce br and costs for the premium and leave the Mk3 as is. That would be the gaijin way.

The amount of times i've seen people driving the challenger DS through the center of the map and instantly dying at the start of the match is just unreal
Well it has the armour of an 8.0 tank and worse mobility than an 5.7 heavy tank and average firepower for its br...Gaijin have done all the Chally tanks dirty. To think the M1 and Leo 2A4 are .3 of Br above this the Chally could easily go 9.0 or 9.3 and not dominate.
At 13:30 i think he messed up because his mouse was right on top of the pole. In fact you can see he shot it down. I'm sure you've seen it before, when your mouse goes over an obstacle the gun aims up for a split second.
because gaijin still hasn't fixed that crosshair goes OVER destructible obstacles even though the round with go through

I bought the challenger ds, purely because I'm British and love the challenger tanks so of course I was gonna buy it. I am thoroughly enjoying playing it, that being said I do have a few niggles with it. Firstly and most trivial is I would have been nice for it to be the chally with the longest range kill, just a simple name change to challenger 11 bravo and a very small skin change. Inconsequential and trivial I know but it would have been nice. More annoying than that though is the fact that this is supposed to be a desert storm challenger and yet it doesn't have any of the additional features that all of the challys that fought in desert storm had. All the challengers that saw combat had the additional armour package and were provided l26 incase they ran into t72s.
I almost feel the need to rant again like I did on the comment you left on another video. Point still stands and I completely agree with you. I’m considering making a forum post but that will probably get ignored 😂. They’ve even called it the Mark 3 for Christ sakes. Don’t get me started again :).

@@markjackson7650 I don’t care what anybody says about “oh the mobility is bad or the armour is bad” no it isn’t. The mobility isn’t as good as a leopard, yes but it turns really well and it’s got plenty of torque and it’s not slow either. I’ve absorbed more damage in the challenger so far and had more non pens than in the TURMS and Moderna, and they’re supposed to have better protection. I’ve really liked it so far and nobody is changing my mind 😂. A tank that had nearly 400 kills to no losses in the gulf war can’t be that bad, granted Iraq had standard T-72s but we were worried enough about those and had we have met them I doubt it would’ve been any different. Right rant over 😂
16:20 If you have an enemy around the corner of a building, and you're both staring each other down, then you can pop ESS and reverse through it to bait them into going around the corner. You'll be able to see them before they're able to see you and if they're in 3rd person then they wont see you at all.
ESS and thermal are quite a bait for many players; i'm using this tactics more and more with tanks that can't see through the smoke.
Yesterday on Rhine i dropped a nuke thanks to this, baiting out early game 3 OF-40s Premium.
It works less with tanks that have thermals but around corners there is always a chance to stop them🤓
ESS is godlike if u know how to outsmart other players.
Sometimes u can bait people by popping regular smoke grenades, and then reverse with ess turned on, and u can see thru the smoke with thermals, while ur opponent thinks u only used reg smoke

It does fill out a Challenger line up and even the top Chieftain for what it’s worth. Not a great vehicle over all but in the right spot it’s pretty surprising how survivable it can be.

Yeah, I've been iffy about it since 8.7 has been getting nothing but 9.7 uptiers and its been driving me nuts
If only it got thermals… I don’t think any OF40 got thermals IRL.. 9.0 was always too high for it seeing as the LeoA1A1 was 8.7 for ages, and the difference between the two is very minimal.

Nice to see the Brits getting some attention. They're definitely my favorite nation in War Thunder even though they tend to be sluggish and out of the meta. While they tend to be feast or famine, nothing feels more satisfying then a well played UK game at the upper battle ratings- you definitely EARN that. Not to mention, mobility may be king at high tier but a well placed and competent Challenger is the court jester providing a healthy ego check.
The British tree keeps its tradition of having the worst/weakest premiums in every theater (air, ground, water) of the "original 5" ... again!
But I consider it when to gos on a 50% sale.
you avoid 9.7 like the plague, meanwhile some of us use it as a feeding ground for stock tanks like AGS

The only use for ESS on high-tier MBTs is to reverse into it with thermals active. Not everyone rolls around with thermals on all the time, so there's a chance you'll catch someone coming into view and only seeing smoke, while you're seeing them perfectly on thermals.
If this was part of the summer sale it would be a no-brainer to buy, but I guess I'll have to wait and see if it goes on sale later on.
Is it better to get this challenger or the 2a4 with camo? Im trying to decide on one but dont know which to pick both are really fun tanks. Any suggestions?
Definitely the 2a4, Britan is a hard pass from me.

I was on the fence on getting it as I’m not a fan of top tier but went for it as I’m near the top of the British tree. Only had one game using it on abandoned factory and got in a hull down position and man can that turret bounce some hits.
I just got and now my faviort line up at the moment really do enjoy it
Tank ain't slow. You have been used to play with toy tanks. This is best "tank feel" you get of all MBTs in this game.
Just so you know Justin Gaijin buffed all the Challenger 1s turret armour in today's patch, I'm guessing that you recorded this video a few days ago though.

Panzer btl IMO. Solid vehicle, balanced in pretty much every area, but maybe not in firepower.. yet
The masses of premiums are because of the never ending grind for people, like me, that just like the modern era.
So it is a homemade problem by Gaijin.
And another thing, their are way less maps with safe after spawn caps now since they put the BR based map rotation into effect. At least above 9.3 and this sucks because it was a good way to get at least parts and FPE with the safe caps right at the start.
Gaijin actually buffed the turret armour of this tank today. It can (almost) bounce 3BM42 Mango now.
How do you know this? Haven’t seen anything in the patch notes

Just checked and it wasn't so much a buff as it was a fix, as the person who reported it pointed out it was performing worse than even Gaijin wanted it to.

I think nords are in a good place atm because they require skill now you have to be precise with them
There is currently nothing more annoying in game right now than a DS moving back and forth right next to you because the engine now has a very annoying raspy sound when you are next to it. You could hear it a bit in the vid
Also one of my favorite tactics with ESS is popping smoke and ESS and backing up so someone will drive through and open themselves up to being shot through the ESS without them realizing it
yes and no sometimes u can bait people by using ess reversing a bit and for somereasson they try to rush you and if you have thermals u can kill them its only usefull for that

with how people where saying this thing is not very good i was a bit scared when i bought it two days ago but i am surprised to see that it fits my play style perfectly.
In close to 200 games 6 have been at 9.7 the majority of the time I face 10.7s using the new chally
The AIM spam has been dragging everything up.
They should have put this at 10.0 and give it L26 since it's a Mk.3.

JUstin's situational awareness in the game is 2nd to none. You keep saying you hear the enemy coming and you know what direction hes coming from??? How??? I can hear something coming but cant tell from where in the game.

L23A1... is just not as good on 9.7 as L26 on 10.0 on mk.3 (of course with that extra armour package)... this is mostly 9.7 chally's problem... its not in the 10.0 setup

Do you prefer light tank/wheeled vehicle play-style or the more jack of all trades medium style of gameplay?

If playstyle not an issue then buy the Rooikat 105, it has the 105mm DM33 at 8.7 which is kinda nasty.

Personaly I like that the challenger isn't as fast becouse i feel like i am playing more carfully than for example leopard where it's easy for me to just hold W and not think at all

A major problem with challenger's is they're sniper tanks. Defensive long range shoots.
Meanwhile in WT they're given a knife and put into a boxing ring. So yeah.....no wonder it struggles lol

Premiums at 9.7 is a slap in the face for players who have sunk in the time to get to high tier and to develop the skills necessary to compete at that BR.

You know how you fix top tier Britian...make them the commonwealth, maybe don't give the US an M1 that was used by the Australian armoured corp when every other Australian vehicle is in the UK tech tree. Gaijin keep giving the big 3 squadron vehicles while the rest get left behind

Hey, I’m requesting a video on the Ikv-91 at 7.0. I remember it being amazing on large maps with its HEAT FS and laser rangefinder. It also has great mobility. The last time I believe you made a video on it was around a year ago.
Why don’t you do a little research on the real challenger 2 and you’ll understand why it’s mobility and speed isn’t on par with everyone else
Honestly top tier Brits is really crap right now, they have the worst round - 564 pen and 4.1 kg projectile mass meaning a lot less post pen spalling. Also they have no top tier supporting vehicle like IFV or light tank (VFM really can't get the job done).

Not a bounce, it was absorbed by the *absolutely not* overperforming Kontakt-1.
Also i think it was a T-55/chinese copy of that the target of such record (since those were more common than T-72/Asad Babil tanks in Iraqi service).

So I've been playing top tier and holy fuck all of my teams are fucking shit, they all die within the first 3 minutes and I basically end up dieing because of it

The only i get to enjoy top tier in this game is by only watch youtube of it am still over a year from getting in to top tier they need to fix the dam economy
pff and you always could escape the wallet warriors at 9.0. now it gets harder and harder to not get frustrated by the 1 death leavers at 9.7
I have the normal chally mk2 and sometimes I just leave after one death because the next best tank I have is the chieftain mk10. And that thing is pAin at 9.0 much less 9.7

Worst Rank 6 premium tank. Slightly more mobile than TURMS (only because of reverse speed), but much worse APFSDS, armor and surviveability. Not even comparable to stuff like premium Leo 2 and CV90105 which are much more better choices. If you want britain that bad (not worth it) just get a Rooikat 105 (a better Centauro 105 R but at lower BR). Just give to Challenger at least L26 because it's just suffering at this point.

just gonna say it. The vast majority of 9+ british tanks are on the bad side of garbage. You got to work your god damn ass off to make them work. Which is absolutely not how these tanks faired in real life at all. Granted removing the network information advantage and comparing a fully trained crew in well maintained vehicle against equivalent but neglected and rarely well trained crew is hard to convert to this game but this? This ain't it. For one, that drivers port weak spot? We didn't need someone to leak the specs to see that its a seperate inlaid armour block. Literally the strongest single piece of armour on the whole tank and gaijin out here saying its a weakspot... No wonder their "paramilitary policing operation" isn't going so well. This general "games as patriotic propaganda" nonsense is really starting to get under my skin. I don't like any flavour of it from any country, including my own. Its just such low intellect bullshit. Its the locker room in high school.
