There is a large time jump in the books between Dune and Dune Messiah (the 3rd movie). So it works in Villenueve's favor to have not shot them simultaneously. Gives the actor's, especially Chalamet, a chance to age a bit.
Seven books in the series but I only got through four of them before losing interest . That is a problem i have with really long series of books. I like it more when the same characters are through out instead of what was going on in these.
