This is what I think a lot of people don’t understand, when your repping 700 pounds in squats, pulling a damn plane, carrying 500 pound Anchors cardio definitely plays a role.
Those people are people who have never lifted a day in their lives. Otherwise they'd know.

Like I’m no where as strong as these guys but when I get done squatting 405 for 10 for my third set of squats after coming down from my 1 rep max, sometimes people will ask me why am I breathing so hard I just look at them like really?

Just did my first strongman competition and I can say, this is the most wholesome group of people you can be around, everyone is helpful and encouraging.

Im a boxer. But I relocated to an area where the nearest gym was known for power lifters and i met many of these guys there. Being with them for long hours every day... these guys had a great influence on my life.

You need cardio to do anything at the size and weight of these fellas. Most 170kg people can't even get out of bed.

Robert Oberst was almost correct. He lost to the second strongest man, first was Zydrunas of course.
I think prime Hafthor was the strongest who ever lived.
@@eiserneskreuz4616 Z has 8 arnolds, 4 wsm titles, 4 or 5 podiums at worlds as well, and several podiums from the few times he got beat at the arnold. And 2 Ifsa titles, and a fortissumus win. World records, titles and starting his 30th strongman season, and just put up a 180 kilo log up in his late forties. No one comes close.

@@garrettjohnson907 Yeah, I didn't say Thor had the most strongman accomplishments or was the most succesful or even the greatest strongman of all time or something along the lines. What I meant is that as in his overall capability in strongman events in his prime time I think he was the strongest ever. No one was as complete and dominant before. Maybe Tom could reach that one day, but at the moment, he is still far from it.
@@eiserneskreuz4616 I agree with ya mostly, put z did that often as well. Watch the 2014 Arnold. He walked away with that show. But just like Hafthor, did a bit worse when injured, but could still place highly. Sadly once guys like Brian started slowing down and Z backed off the bug shows, no one was at that dominator status yet besides hafthor, so walked away with it. No hard feelings, just a strongman dork

And even after deadlifting more than Robert Oberst, that kid would still be far, far away from being the world's best deadlifter. So when you put it like that, it should cut pretty deep.
@Sleazy Challenger If you climb the highest mountains there's also a risk of death and injury, but some people do these things because it's a great challenge. We all die in the end, but some people achieve great things while they're alive, even if it's risky. Same with deadlifts. I'd be willing to be that far fewer people can lift over 400 kg than have climbed Mt. Everest. There may be fewer men who can deadlift over 490 kg than have been on the moon.
@Sleazy Challenger never got injured deadlifting, the biggest injury I got was a blister on my thumb. Might want to look at your form dude

Strength alone doesn't stop you gassing out 5 meters in 😂 so these guys defo have good cardio
