Bond Knitting Machine: 2-colour 4-strand tuck stitch

  • Keyplate 1, 8 Ply (DK)
    Cast on a multiple of 3 + 1 stitches
    Knit a few rows in main background colour
    transfer stitches into groups of 3
    Knit 2 rows of Feature Yarn
    Knit 4 rows of Background Yarn
    Pick up top coloured stitch of all even numbered needles, unravel the above stitches and replace the stitch and floats onto the same needle. (do this for the rest of the row)
    placing all needles on FWP, knit 1 row of feature yarn
    placing all needles on FWP, knit another row of feature yarn
    Knit 4 rows of background yarn
    This time select the Odd numbered needles and perform the same procedure of picking up the top coloured stitch, unravelling the above stitches and replacing the stitch and floats onto the same needle.

    Fabulously explained - I loved the animation too. This is probably the clearest tutorial I've seen for any machine knitting video.
    I have a question though - can Bond machines use 'holding' position? I assume they can? I'm just wondering out loud why you didn't tuck the odd needles, then knit off for 2 rows, then tuck the even needles , then knit off for 2 rows etc. instead of knitting the 4 rows and manually undoing the stitches to form the tucked stitches?
    Is there much difference? Intrigued...can't wait to try this tomorrow! :)

      Thank you :) The bond USM is ok at tucking 1 row. Any more than that, and we’re talking a lot of droppped stitches. ISM is a little better, but I still don’t trust them. This is why I manually tucked the 4 rows of knitting.

    Is there anywhere here in Australia we can get new bond intarsia key plates or anything bond for that matter?? Where did you get your machine from?
