Candlemass pioneered the subgenre of epic doom metal. Doom metal is a subgenre of metal heavily influenced by Black Sabbath. What amazes me is that the leader of this band and I quote "Wasn't happy with the original mix and neither were the band members,our remaster fixes several issues we have with our original release due to the record label rushing us to make and release this album"

Have you heard Robert Lowe of Solitude Aeturnus? Check out "Mirror of Sorrow". Dude was up there with Dio and Bruce back in the 90's...

Ok, story time. (Not made up though...)
Back in the 80's I lived in a town in south Sweden, called Ronneby. (Same place Marcolin comes from.)
One day I went to visit a friend of mine who whas rather good at bending them strings. (Guitar. He was playing the guitar.)
When I got out of my car I heard rock music coming from the open window of his tiny apartment. Guitar and vocals to be precise.
I went up the stairs and knocked on his door, and when he let me in, he was playing the guitar rather loudly (as he should) and next to him was Eddie Marcolin (later known as "Messiah"), singing _without amplification_, but still keeping up with the guitar sound.
DAMN he's got vocal resources!
Not long after that (perhaps a year?) He joined Candlemass.
I actually think I saw/heard him once before that though, without knowing who it was.
There was a band called SOUNDS (Possibly with KISS style on the S letters) playing at some youth club, and the drummer/vocalist was rather impressive. Intense double bass drums and powerful vocals at the same time, I was in awe...
When I think back, I actually think that was Marcolin... at least it fits the profile. :P
End of story.

They deserve to have sold millions of albums and be stadium headliners. Those first four albums should have brought them insane success. Maybe it was just the bad timing.

Sabol Kralj well, thats not completely right, because Sabbath created metal in general, and to me sounds more like stoner metal than Doom, Domm is way more depresive than Sabbath music. Leggends both bands!

Actually he is a high baritone or baritenor. His voice is a bit too deep and dark for a tenor.

I remember in the early 90s I had this on VHS tape, and I would rewind it to this one part where this poor guy with the glasses in the front gets hit in the head by somebody, and his whole body thrust forward @5:30 and sad to say I thought it was funny but I was only 14 years old at the time 😂. Also sad that my mom later ripped up the VHS tape and thought it was demonic stuff on there. It
We were so spoiled for metal talent in the 80s, that I completely ignored Candlemass. Now, 1000 years later, to my utter shock, im thinking that this guy was in the Dio/Dickinson/Tate/Halford league!!And I didn't even bother to listen at the time.... Shame on me.
