Context for those who don’t know: So, game lore is that Yourself (the tall ass bf) looses Herself (the gf for the tall ass bf), and Yourself is an alternate universe version of Boyfriend. She appears in the starting cutscene as the red glow of the microphone, and she appears for a split second during the lyrics when Yourself says “just long”. So after Herself died under mysterious circumstances, Yourself lost his sanity, and stopped taking care of himself, making him look so tattered. Herself now lives on in his microphone. Outside of game lore: This song is a sad tribute to The original creator of Yourself (Divide). Divide sadly died In his sleep to cancer. “I’ll make you say how proud you are of me” The dev team asking Divide if he’s proud of them on how they did. “So stay awake just long enough to see my way” Again, the Dev team asking Divide to stay alive to see the end result of what they could do with his OC (even though Divide has been gone for quite some time...) So yeah, the outside lore is extremely sad. RIP Divide. You will be missed.
