Dude, I feel like I'm late to the game, but this was the most helpful set of videos for someone who signed up with onshape less than 4 hours ago. Thank you!
These lessons were very helpful. I was able to create a stepdown gear by watching these. The gear worked in a paper shredder! I was amazed and excited to create more. I have found my local library has a 3D printer that can be used free of charge. Great way to spend some retired winter days. Thanks so much.
Very helpful; thank you. Onshape is rapidly becoming a favorite tool in the FIRST Robotics community. Even the rookie kids on my teams are doing good designs with it.
What a great introductory learning series. It covered the necessary steps to get up and running plus many other salient features. Just wish you would continue with making more videos. They helped me immensely. Thank you
Thank you. I typically jump in to most apps and pick up on them pretty quickly. Such as the Adobe suite, illustrator, photoshop. I had a very hard time making since of anything at first. But you took that all away and I became comfortable really quick. Excellent video. I've wanted to learn cad forever but it was so very difficult before. I really appreciate Onshape for free version to get started.
Many thanks for this series - you have paced it just right and have made it easy to follow, certainly easier than many other guides I have watched in my attempt to move from 2D LibreCAD to OnShape. Looking forward to seeing your other guides.
im just starting with onshape. your videos have helped me quite a bit. I just watched this series. looking forward to watching the other videos you have made. Thank You so much for doing this. Youre the best.
You are awesome. beyond the obvious of well written and spoken instructions are the decisions you made to explain general concepts that step by step tutorials often fail to do well or entirely at all. perfect for me coming from tinkercad and a little bit of sketch up way back. big thumbs up from me
This series was great. I know other CAD/modelling programs. But those are typically expensive and on my work computer. I was looking for a Cloud-based program I can use from home. I am excited to start learning On-Shape and your video did a great job of giving a quick run down on how to start drawing.
I'm learning by pausing the instructional then repeating the steps on my platform and then returning to the instructional. I suggest that, when the instructor clicks on an icon or the desktop or anywhere for that matter, that we are told on what is being clicked before continuing with the points to be discussed. That will make the learning process much clearer and shorten the length of time required by avoiding constant pausing to replay what has just been done. Now, I'm really anxious to put this software to educational use.
Thank you so much! I will be buying a 3d printer, possibly the ender 3 pro, in the near future and i already know a lot of stuff about how to design my prints thanks to you!
These beginner videos have been great for me as a school teacher to get to grips with the basics for my students. But my students have Special Educational Needs and some have struggled to follow the videos. Do you have other resources for students like mine (perhaps shorter bite-sized tutorials, or videos with simpler language)?
Excellent series of videos, thanks for making them. I'm moving over from Fusion 360 (given up hope on an Apple Silicon version!) and this got me up to speed very quick.
Fantastic series of lectures, given very clearly and patiently. GREAT JOB! I am wondering though, how can one design a multi-part piece, say a hammer that has a head. Any hints?
Excellent videos!i used Fusion 360 years ago but forgot about it now i got new 3d printer but i wanted to use a Chromebook to create my things so im using onshape instead! Thank you
love your tutorials so easy to understand. i was wondering if you could cover sheet metal and flange/hem features in the same detail? i have finished a model with several sketches and extrudes but struggle to import it as sheet metal and bend/hem parts i have made
i have been planning to build a custom bike for myself (DIY), from a bike that i already have. so a website suggested Onshape for doing a pre-sketch of what i want. so can you please suggest how to or from were to start drawing, like from the chassis itself to whole bike or just the outline the surface to see how it will look after the build..!?
Hi Nidheesh, There are various approaches to that one. It also depends on how much of it you're actually doing yourself. Are you going to be fabricating the parts yourself or outsourcing some things? Onshape would be good for making sure critical components fit together correctly, or if you're outsourcing parts then to communicate your design intent and correct dimensions to the machine shop / fab shop. But if you're welding yourself, you don't really need to work from CAD., because you can build to fit. If looks are really important, then generally one one would start with a concept drawing, and add detail and specifics afterward. If you're modifying a bike you already have, creating a CAD model for the bike would be an excellent exercise, after which you could start adding / modifying parts. Just don't get bogged down in unnecessary details, like detailing the contours of the handle bar grip, etc. Hope this helps.
I don’t mind the public aspect of the free version. Unlikely anything I do for a long time will be useful. However, my friend says he wants to invest in a metal capable 3D printer and wants me involved. He’s the mechanical engineer, me the electrical engineer so I’m a bit puzzled. We’re both in our 70’s, so it keeps the brain alive.
As far as I know, unfortunately they haven't implemented that feature yet. You can only create drawings on desktop/web browser. However, you CAN open drawings on mobile to view, just not edit :/
Love it, great series. And credits to on shape for keeping everything the same over 7 years so this video is still relevant
i am a total beginner and the explanation he gives is so good. I am so thankful that this dude is teaching me!
An excellent series, the pace is just right for beginners and you cover areas that are basic to getting started. Hope there is more to come.
Thanks Richard, there is definitely more coming! :)
Really good series, I love how every video is only couple mintes long and simple to understand.
This has traffic help to get me started quickly and confidently. Please make more OnShape video, you have many people wanting more!
What kind of vids are you looking for?
Love love loved the tutorials. Perfect.
I guess number 6 video could be how to export the files as STL for printing.
Amazing series, I learnt so much in such a short time. I love how you made everything so concise but not overwhelming or drawn out. Thank you

Awesome introduction. I was overwhelmed when I first signed up, but your tutorials made it so easy. Thank you!!
Impressed by the simplicity of constraining👍
A really helpful introduction. Demonstrations were clear, well-paced for beginners and helped me become confident in the use of On-shape.

Wow man, you're the better exlainer in all the world. Your explanations are so clears. 👏👏👏👏👏
@CADSessions thank you so much. These 5 tutorials were so helpful and are a great start to anyone who is brand new to onshape
Thanks man. These videos have really helped me in CAD class, and inspired me to explore CAD beyond the school taught curriculum.
Many thanks for this series - you have paced it just right and have made it easy to follow, certainly easier than many other guides I have watched in my attempt to move from 2D LibreCAD to OnShape. Looking forward to seeing your other guides.
it was difficult until I began to understand the process, the tutorials are very useful

4 years later and still great!
Really helpful starter videos for learning how to use Onshape. Thank you for providing them to everyone! :)
Cheers :)

Thank you that was incredibly helpful and you went through it in a very slow pace so I was never confused :D
Excellent basic explanatory videos about Onshape design for beginners.

An excellent series. I took extensive notes and created practice exercises. I am well begun in Onshape. Thank you.
Super helpful for a complete newb like me, thank you for taking the time to create this!
So well presented. Considerate words and mouse motions - the little things that make it easier for students.😀
Thank you so much! I will be buying a 3d printer, possibly the ender 3 pro, in the near future and i already know a lot of stuff about how to design my prints thanks to you!
