    • @mensamlucerna4220
      @mensamlucerna4220 3 года назад +5

      IED can be anyhting in from a fart to a nuke, 1 kg tnt, 10000 kg tnt, both can be IED. Besides regardless of the vehicle surviving anyone inside can be thrown around by the blast and risk breaking their neck slaming into the roof or getting hit by loose heavy objects. If I was a giant putting you into a metal box before voilently shaking it, the box would be fine, you... probably not.

      To be serious, think the beardless soldiers stems from WWI were gas was a real threat and a beard could get you killed as the hairs would allow gas to trickle in under your gasmask. Look at the American civil war, some dynomite mustaches and beards there. These days gas isn't a threat anymore so you will see bearded soldiers.

    • @niklas2378
      @niklas2378 6 лет назад +4

      the idea of not shaving your beard comes from the fact that when shaving you remove the natural oils in yor skin and increase the risk of facial frostbite. therefore norwegian soldiers are told not to shave when in a combat environment

      In Afghanistan you get more respect from the locals and village elders if you have a beard, sounds crazy but it's true. So if they're going to have a relationship with the locals and negotiate with them, it is better to have a beard than clean shaven.

Even in Serbia temperatures regularly go over 40C during summer, while in Afghanistan they can reach even 50. I know from my own experience that the difference between 30 and 40 is huge, between 30 and 50 it is extreme.
