That way I can be informed of this fratricidal war between Russians and Ukrainians (with weapons and help from the West) and many geopolitical events around the world. Thank you very much Mr. Mercouris for your wise analysis, for your work and dedication.

This is in addition to the fact that the United States approved 50 billion for Ukraine 2 months ago.. And except for the assistance that is provided separately by Europe .. Russian doctrine appears to rely mainly on ground-to-air defenses to defend against NATO aircraft and tactical rocket attacks. This means that Russia has the capability to producing huge numbers of S-300 and S-400 missiles on a production line basis as well as the radars and associated equipment. These are Russia's long range air defense assets. There are of course several effective shorter-range systems such as Pantsirs that coordinate with these systems and are particularly effective against cruise missiles and smart bombs. Aircraft play rolls in defense, but not nearly as heavily as in Western doctrine.
Huge numbers of air defense missiles and radars systems are likely also in inventory. Figure at least one S-300 or S-400 missile for each NATO aircraft and ballistic missile in NATO inventories. This means Russia has thousands of these missiles and, as noted above, the capability to mass produce many more, at least 100's per month.
In the West we are accustomed to viewing aircraft as representing airpower, with ballistic and cruise missiles playing specific, secondary rolls. We don't begin to understand how Russia views airpower.
Patriot missiles now cost $4,000,000 each. A wild guess is that an S-400 missile, at cost to the Russian military, is 10% of that cost. Very high quantity production with its inevitable cost reductions, and as importantly, missiles designed for mass production, are keys. Lower inherent costs in Russia are another. As a simple calculation, if it takes 10 S-400 missiles to shootdown a Western aircraft that costs $25,000,00 to $100,000,000 with the loss of a highly trained pilot, the advantage in the tradeoff goes to Russia.
As a side note, both Germany and Japan ran out of excellent or even good pilots before they ran out of aircraft. If we believe the nonsense that NATO aircraft will only have Ukraine pilots then the Ukraine fleet of NATO aircraft will quickly become combat ineffective in weeks due to a loss of pilots. Zelinsky could get his 150 F-16's but would have no one to fly them.

POPULISM: WHAT IS SO WRONG ABOUT CARING DEEPLY FOR YOUR OWN NATION?
Who likes to be made to comply with actions that we feel are detrimental to us or those around us? Is it so odd that we revolt against this harm to us and those we love?
Most of us grew up with some affection for the nations we were born and raised in. In our youth we saw much we wished to change no doubt. The young tend to believe that radical changes are required so that the ideal we visualise can be reached with minimum delay. It is only with time that we discern the reality that for the adults and for us who become adults there are benefits to stability that tend to be overlooked by the young. However, by and large the vast majority of us identify with the country of our birth. And why not?
So we come to the subjects of populism, patriotism and nationalism. And of course in analysing these we must also look at those in the centre ground, the mainstream if you will, who tend to sit in judgement as the entitled elites to whom all but their ideas, activities, thoughts, narratives, talking points and policies are suspect.
The recent elections in Europe brought success for many who those who tend to hold the central ground (as they like to think of it) call far this, far that, populist or nationalist. If particularly strident some of these might also be given the epithet authoritarian, another term from the comfortable, entitled centre to designate those beyond the pale. These are looked upon with disapproval. The voters got it wrong in voting for them. Only those in the centre are worthy of a vote. Perhaps Russian propaganda, misinformation or fake news got to them. It couldn’t be that they simply have another way of looking at things. There WAS only one way of looking at things.
The term populist tends to be spoken with a sneer embedded within it, an attitude of disdain, almost spoken with a sigh that uneducated primitives have acted in an uneducated, primitive way one again and they have to somehow deal with these idiots by blackening their name until they learn better. The liberal centre loves itself. As seen in the USA for a great many years now there are abiding attitudes of exceptionalism, of being at the pinnacle of human organisation and capacity, supreme and incapable of being challenged. The ultimately successful winners at the end of history, now willing and able to do whatever is necessary to the lower life forms across the rest of the world who act in variously degenerate fashion compared to us.
A populist is basically the scum of the earth to such people, a no-nothing, an idiot, scoundrel, tawdry troublemaker who will mess up the project to make everything perfect in the enlightened liberal image. You see how all the pejorative terms used across the central political spectrum and their fellow elites across the mainstream media world are generated and the use made of them. Who are they to call people populists? And what are populists really anyway?
A populist tends to be someone who wants the best for his or her country and is focused upon this goal rather than being focused on a wider project that inevitably emerges from those in what we could call central control. A populist wishes to safeguard his or her nation from negative influences many of which stem from outside influencers or influences. To the central controllers this presents a problem. These, who are often called globalists need to be able to manipulate entire swathes of nations to bend them to their own goals, and these goals can often be boiled down to buzzwords such as human rights, freedom, democracy, values and free trade. Those who have ambitions to unify and homogenise areas connected to these buzzwords have an overwhelming need to undermine those who wish to protect their own nations in respect of their sovereignty, traditions, culture and independence. Therefore their names must be blackened.
Take recently elected Robert Fico as an example. He has sworn to do what’s best for Slovakia. This is a mortal sin the the central controllers within the EU, an institution beholden in turn to the central controllers of the USA. It is absolutely not okay in their eyes for premier minister Robert Fico to be focused on his beloved Slovakia. He must be made to fall back in line with the mores of the EU superstate as demanded by Brussels and the policies that it mandates. Mr Fico does not agree (along with Viktor Orban of Hungary) that fomenting further war in Ukraine is a good thing, not for Ukraine and not either for Slovakia, nor the world in general. But this is not okay, looking after your own country or having a different way of looking at things from the mandated Brussels policy is simply unacceptable.
Mr Fico and the man who will become president of Slovakia very soon, Mr Pelligrini both see their job as protecting the sovereign nation of Slovakia. They are adamant that Slovakia remains a nation capable of expressing the will of the people who vote governments and presidents into power based on the clearly expressed views and intentions of the candidates for those positions. All else, the normal conditions and agreements made in signing contracts to join the European Union remain in place. Nothing in that contract demands total obedience however. That is why the veto exists within the EU rules so that nations are not required to obey by demand from the centre. Note that there are powerful force which wish to eliminate this veto and allow policy change by majority instead.
Mr Fico and Mr Pelligrini were elected by popular vote. They are obviously therefore popular. They are popular, it can be assumed because the Slovak people by a voting majority liked the policies they espoused, one of the main and most prominent being that humanitarian aid to Ukraine was fine but that no further military aid should be given and that there should be an early start to peace negotiations. For the EU central controllers this is an unacceptable point of view. Despite diplomacy being seen in the past as the most optimum route to resolve conflicts those controllers, controlled in their turn by those in the USA, have decided all possible military means must be used instead. Fico and Pelligrini are expected to go against their principles and against the clear wish of a majority of Slovak voters for them to carry out the mandate for peace as campaigned upon and simply submit to those who would completely deny they are being authoritarian. Irony and hypocrisy much?

The Chinese would not trade with Taiwan and the US would then have the job of keeping Taiwan supplied with everything it needed as well as keeping a very large force in place to deter the Chinese. It does not sound like a feasible plan to me.

US General Paparo described “hellscape” war over Taiwan strait by flooding with hundreds of thousands of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) or unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) is a joke itself for two reasons; Firstly where to purchase key components and where to build these UAV or UUV? China already put export restrictions on both UAV and UUV products and key components to limit supply, and also Ukraine war had battle proven US-made UAV is a sub-standard product and US-made UUV is about the same quality level too. Secondly, how and where to deploy these UAV or UUV? Ukraine war had battle proven Britan-made UUV has limited shipping distance and can NOT hide from land-based coastal radar or ship-based surveillance radar. The chines had also put export restriction on export explosive and propellent to kill weaponry production once for all. So the bottom line is that the Chinese will again view General Paparo’s comments as optics to attract congressman/woman for budget only. Period.

Sixth comment. Sorry for spamming your video Alexander "the great economist from 2015 on Russia's future economy" but you mentioned the 32 SBU in a bus trying to escape mobilization to Hungary, as reported on Dima's channel, today. I would like to point out how in early 2022 Ukraine proudly stated how they opened the armouries to give weapons to citizens to fight Russsians. I surmise that they only gave weapons to Right Sectors to force Russian Speaking Ukrainians to the front lines. No weapons were given to Russians to defend themselves from the Right Sector. Just saying...

VATNIK SEZ: “And Russian MoD nearly always UNDERreports enemy casualties, because they have a very longstanding tradition of strict standards for such reporting due to issues with such reporting before and during WWII. Which resulted in USSR already in WWII generally providing the most reliable casualty reports(at least internally).” (cont. below)
You can't really trust Russian MoD figures (which by the way have zero to do with Combat reporting by the USSR in WWII), They greatly inflate UA losses and have zero standards with the lies going up their chain of command. . Shoigu said before he was canned that Ukraine had 400,000 dead and missing. Even he has to know that this number is simply a vastly inflated lie...Also during WWII Russian/USSR propaganda greatly inflated German losses on the Eastern Front...
VATNIK: "Ukraine mobilized 2 million or MORE by end of July 2022." In what fantasyland did this happen ?? They didn't even have personal weapons for all the troops they had in the ranks at war start...
VATNIK: "300 thousand (UA) troops gone in less than 3 months." That would work out to well over 3,000 A DAY, day in and day out for 3 months of combat. Obviously an absurd exaggeration that makes no sense. How could that even happen and which 3 months are you talking about ??
VATNIK: "The most reliable numbers i've been seeing about Bakhmut is 8 thousand KIA and 22 thousand total casualties (for Russia). Or not far from those numbers." Wagner Group media said in Summer 2023 that their Wagner losses ALONE to May 2023 were 20,000+ killed and 40,000 wounded.
And your figures for UA KIA losses at Bakhmut (over 50,000++ dead) actually exceeds memorial death notices issued by UA families & localities on social media and elsewhere FOR THE ENTIRE WAR !! So that can't be correct either...
VATNIK: . "Ukraine started with 700 thousand troops. Nearly all fully Nato-trained."
This is simply false. Ukraine started the war with about 200,000 ground troops including paramilitaries. Only a few tens of thousands were trained by NATO forces. IF you are SO WRONG about this simple fact at war start why should we believe any of your other supposed (and ridiculous) WAR VATNIK "Facts and Figures" on the war in Ukraine...

The Russian reporting is SANITARY losses, NOT KIA+WIA. Sanitary casualties are those not expected to come back to the frontlines anytimes soon or ever.
The majority of WIAs do NOT count as part of sanitary losses.
So, it's not dead and wounded, it's dead and SEVERELY wounded.
And Russian MoD nearly always UNDERreports enemy casualties, because they have a very longstanding tradition of strict standards for such reporting due to issues with such reporting before and during WWII. Which resulted in USSR already in WWII generally providing the most reliable casualty reports(at least internally).
    "19 thousand"
If that's supposed to be dead only, then nope. Wagner and ex-convicts together, as far as we know their total losses Bakhmut AND elsewhere is about 11 thousand KIA.
Also, the ex-convicts all had former conscript training, they were NOT just thrown in untrained.
Also, it needs to be said that one of the problems Russia had with ex-convicts were that Prigozhin offered them similar but smaller bonuses same as Wagner troops got. But did not realise just how much money that was for the ex-cons. Thousands of them literally just made their wills and then charged in recklessly because every bonus they succeded at was a small fortune, and if they died, the deathpay would mean their heirs getting a for them huge amount of money.
The battle of Bakhmut was supposed to keep going several months more, but the ex-cons were so gung-ho, aggressive and "enthusiastic" about it that they shredded the Ukraine military much faster than either expected or planned. But at a cost in lives.
The most reliable numbers i've been seeing about Bakhmut is 8 thousand KIA and 22 thousand total casualties. Or not far from those numbers.
With numbers for Ukraine at 73 thousand KIA and 150-250 thousand total casualties.
Ukraine started with 700 thousand troops. Nearly all fully Nato-trained.
September 2022, Ukraine bragged that it had over 1 million active troops.
Zalushny interview December 2022, said that Ukraine had REBUILT its military to 700 thousand troops but only 200 thousand were combat ready(trained).
300 thousand troops gone in less than 3 months.
500 thousand combat ready troops gone since start of conflict IF Ukraine in the meantime trained ZERO additional troops, which is certainly not true.
Ukraine mobilised 2 million or MORE by end of July 2022.
Ukraine has since probably mobilised around another 500 thousand, minimum.
Yet the active troopnumbers are variously stated anywhere from 300 thousand to 450 thousand.
Where's the other 3 million troops?
The number of days of conflict is in the 800s.
For that to work out mathematically, Ukraine MUST be losing over 3 thousand troops per day overall. Closer to 4 thousand even.
    .
    "airborne"
Basically, ignore all such monikers in regards to Ukraine military nowadays. Most of them have absolutely no connection to reality.
Remember the Ukraine officer complaining in regards to assaulting Krynki, that 4/5 of the soldiers in his marines brigade couldn't swim...
They're like WWII Germany calling all kinds of infantry "panzer grenadier" and pretending that suddenly they had the extra training that classification was supposed to include.
