"I've come to steal the spotlight by dying in the most heart-breaking way you can imagine. The fangirls will be sobbing for ages. They will never forgive you. It's going to be awesome." / Haldir, Marchwarden of Lothlórien
I think Haldir is one of the best characters in the whole triology. The way him and his Elvish kin gave their lives fighting at Helms Deep, even though they had immortality.. Haldir's death was really saddening to me..
I remember thinking he's good looking then being completely sad that i don't even want to watch the scene where he dies. I was taken off guard when all these good looking elves began to help them. Elves are beautiful alright.
It didn't sit well w/ me that Haldir died in battle. WHAT A DOWNER. I mean, he could have been given more scenes. & NOT died in battle. He 's a gorgeous elf. All the elves were knockouts. Wish more men looked liked those elves. They are SO attractive. Haldir could have played a bigger part in LOTR.
in this scene and when boromir died, and also when eomer thought that eowyn died and that scene from grey heavens when frodo left middle earth its quite a lot actually :D
Yes.. And that is when her shared foresight with her father.. she went to aid her love.. And some other little things happened and it did end up with her having Frodo and defending him by calling up the bloodline of elves that runs through the waters of Arda and Ilmadris.
well some people had to die to pull emotion out of people. They couldn't kill Lord Elrond, or Legolas, he was the only other well known elf in the movie.
For the very same reason they put Arwen where Glorfindel should have been in Lord of the Rings. In the book, she didn't rescue Frodo, Glorfindel put Frodo on his Elf Horse, and sent him to Rivendell. They changed quite a bit in the movies, v. the books, so I understand your perplexion.
Yeah... In fact, I don't recall him even leaving Lothlorien for that matter... I was sure it was someone else who was sent there... Foggy... Glorfindel.... maybe... I don't remember.
In the book no elves besides Legolas fought at Helm’s Deep. Elladan and Elrohir (Elrond’s sons) arrived for the battle of the Pelennor Fields, and went with Aragorn through the Paths of the Dead. However, rather than leading a company of elves they were leading the Dunedain rangers. As for Haldir, he did not spend the entire war in Lórien. Celeborn led forces from Lórien to Mirkwood where they joined Thranduil’s forces. Glórfindel also joined them with a company from Rivendell. They worked with the Dwarves of Erebor and the humans of Dale to draw away the White Hand and most of Sauron’s orcs. This meant that Sauron had to begin the siege of Minas Tirith without technically having enough troops, and just hope that the Corsairs would come through. Which Aragorn made sure they did not: on the advice of Galadriel. Because yes, this was all Celeborn’s idea, the absolute madlad.
Because someone had to lead the Elves of Lórien had to be led by someone, someone of Status and for a dramatic effect Haldir had to die. The force of the Rohirrim at Helm's deep was not 300 like in the movie, but 2.000, and the Elves never came to aid.
Even tho the film was changed from how the book is read ( & with the blessings of Tolkien's family ,,, he didn't die that too long ago ! ) PJ had to make a few changes to keep it great on film ( as with any book put to film ) ... it was still a sad death & one of the best portrayed , in my books ( lol ) ! ... & Yes ! PrincessMononoke196 ! ,,, He was most deffo smexy !!! ;)
Shizzzzisss! Only drink bitter melon first until own legions run to the pig and drop at the cliff and go to the black sea, oh not black sea, red Sea , and then go to real churches see and repent baptize and prepare a day to real fasting first. Spirit will show you next not us, hmmmmmmm!

12 years later I still agree with you.

Jack Bennett haldir has in rly not fightung at Helms Deep, he going before to Valinor
As was said before, he had a charming arrogance about him.
If they can bring him back, thousands if not millions would be thrilled.
Я абажаю галадриэль лучшая красивая очень 🔥🔥🔥🔥👍👍👍
Beautiful! The best tribute to Haldir I have seen. Absolutely stunning and powerful portrayal of one of the most moving characters in LOTR.
I remember thinking he's good looking then being completely sad that i don't even want to watch the scene where he dies. I was taken off guard when all these good looking elves began to help them. Elves are beautiful alright.

Aw, well done! Love Haldir, and thanks for paying tribute to him! Wish he had been the one on the horse saving Frodo instead of breathy-mincy Arwen!

I love Haldir. Thank you.
He was larger than life and he shouldn't ve died. He didn't die in the books.
It was meant to show the sacrifice that the Elves made for Middle Earth in the war before they all left.
I LOVE YOU HALDIR!!!!!!!

In the book he didn't die. He did a cameo in the Return of the King as an Orc.
