Nice diy project! We learn by doing, troubleshooting, and re-configuring until we get the desired result. Paying an expert to do it for you isn't learning, growing and evolving. Kudos to Nate for working in the cold and getting his system working better & better.

Wear cotton gloves when you are working on the line. The oils/salt from your fingers is what is attracting the squirrels to chew your lines.

So I have a set up similar to yours. My question is I don’t have a 4008 pump but I do have a short flow. So what happens is I have plenty of vacuum no leaks my pump appears to stop sucking after about a minute and a half. And won’t start back up again until I release vacuum. The motor still runs but it just does not pump. For instance, I took the line out put it in a bucket of sap turned the pump on. I was getting plenty of bubbles. my lines came up to pressure still plenty of bubbles in the exit line. After a minute and a half no more bubbles. Pump got quiet did not stop running. Just got quiet earlier Sap stop moving. Released vacuum, plugged back in SAP started flowing again. So on so forth. What do you think is wrong I’ve tried changing pumps it does the exact same thing. Thanks for your help.

Man, I wish I had an answer for you. Mine backup the line, some then drain, but that doesn't sound good at all. I don't know if you're on any of the maple syrup pages on Facebook, but there are people who run several pumps and may know what your problem is

I think I might have found what to do. A recirculation tube from bucket back to the pump, so far it appears to keep the pump running. Thanks for your help. I’ll let you know.
