@@stephenstone8480 My buddy was in town from Illinois and a bunch of us were watching the game from our hometown bar in South Jersey and everyone was going beserk when Casty hit the game-winner. They FINALLY showed the grit and resiliency they're known for....and they needed every ounce of it against this gritty, determined Mets team. I can't stand the Mets but ya gotta admire how they've been playing ball since the All Star break.

There is NOTHING like playoff baseball. I get why some people think it's boring, but the tension that builds up is incomparable. No other sport has it.

This game reminded me of Game 4 of the 2022 NLCS against the Padres. Just unbelievable back and forth, both teams just kept going blow for blow until my Phillies finally land the final blow and win the game. I hate the Mets with every fiber of my being but I can't deny this team is TOUGH. God damn they just don't die

watched the ending live on tv starting in the 8th. my heart sank when they hit the homer in the 9th but i was so ecstatic when we won. go phils!

Dude I nearly put a whole in my utility closet door (in an apartment) when he hit that homer in the 9th. I called it right before the pitch too. Despair to jumping for joy like three times in 3 1/2 innings, lunacy.

Couldn’t get near a TV for the game had to listen on the radio. Number 1, Scott Franzke is a treasure and 2, this game on the radio was absolutely nerve racking.

Franzke and Larry Anderson on the radio are the best combo announcers in all of sports. So well done - so entertaining, you don’t miss the TV.
try doing it on Gamecast ESPN.... I was sitting in there just staring at the spot where its going to be a red dot strike out or green for a ball...... all of a sudden a red dot came up and I thopught DAMN KOed.. But it was what they do when the game is over... It then reverts back to the first inning and first pitch to first batter [which was a strike] I then looked above and it said Phillies 7 mets 6 on the scoreboard..... OMG

Castellanos does have a lot of heart. Relentlessly booed at the start of the game, but then had a great night at the plate, on the basepaths & in the outfield.
This is why I have faith in my team. My dad was so confident we were gonna lose this game and then lose in NY, but I knew you had it in ya Phils!!! One of the best games I’ve ever seen!!!
Philly know about fightin back, the underdog city. NY is flashy signs. This game is in there for sure.

@@andrewptob No I watched the Phillies bullpen be the solo reason they lost multiple games in the back half of the year. Wheeler couldn’t even buy a win because the Phillies would score 1 or 2 runs and Alvarado would single handedly end the game for them. Even the last 2 games the bullpen completely sucked and almost blew BOTH games. Ignoring the problem doesn’t make it go away.
Nick Castillanos is so important to this team. He is so cool under pressure. In that spot so many guys would be swinging for the fences when a well-atruck single is all that's needed. Classic Phil's game here

I am happy to see Bryce Harper in that mold again. All of our stars stepped up and played their asses off. This is what Philadelphia sports is all about. This is a premier example of how we want our athletes to fight for our sports.

They booed the HELL outta Castellanos earlier in game then Bronx cheered him when he actually took a pitch in the dirt. But he acknowledged the fans and nodded his head as he went to the dugout. Came up later and got it done....TWICE! Not to mention the catch on Alonso in the 9th after the back breaking HR by Vientos.
Mets are gonna be a tough out but I think the Phillies, after ruining Wheelers start HAD to have it. Now they have the advantage with pitching going into NY and bullpen relatively rested.
I was so happy I felt kind of choked up. I kept yelling I love that guy!! I love that guy!! Casty's my hero!!!! Mr. Walk Off. I mean he was down 1 ball 2 strikes, Two team outs. It was on him to end it or go into the 10th with a whole new set of variables that could happen which is terrifying. I'm always so confident in him in clutch spots.
Diehard Met fan. Disappointed of course, but this was postseason baseball at its best. A great memory for you, Philly fans.

The fact the starters have an era of 1 through both games and the bullpen has and era of 5 is quite insane. (Bullpen allowed 6 runs in first games, and 4 in this. The starters allowed 0 runs in the first and 2 in the second game. Not to mention that relivers have thrown less than the starters)
Starter’s ERA is higher than 1, they allowed two runs total in 12 innings. Two runs in 18 innings would be an ERA of 1.
I believe the Starter’s ERA is 1.5, and the bullpen is 15.
