We're starting at about 3" of length and my last cut being in early March of 2022. _Here we go, slowly._

The only way to grow out of an "awkward stage"... Is through the process of 'growth' both hair and mind... And hopefully you land with a hairstyle you're comfortable with doing everyday because you might be able to style your hair in the most perfect way for yourself but if you're not able to do it everyday then it becomes a huge problem... So my advice just find a simple hairstyle one you can do every friggin day

yeah don't worry, I'm like 7/10 through the awkward stage and so close to the freedom bun. the mushroom stage was really short and you just need to scrunch your hair and tuck in behind your ears. best of luck bro.
@gamfluent2857 My hair was a no 2 on the sides and a top knot ponytail on top. I cut the top so that it was a few inches long and just let everything grow. I was going to layer the top but just left it. Went to the hairdressers once every 5 months for a shape up and split ends check. Now its all one length and below my ears...ie short bob. Will just let it grow out now till it reaches my shoulders
I also had my hair thinned out all over to reduce some bulk. Just very light thinning out. As my hair gets longer is pulling the hair down naturally. Thinning out got rid of the mushroom look a bit

What he calls mecha aquward stage and hair he didn’t like, is hair I’d kill for. if my hair had some health to it and proper technique it would turn out similar to his, but no matter what I do I just cannot seem to master getting healthy hair, it’s always been dry and pretty frizzy my whole life, and then when I use conditioner it just becomes superphysiological oily a day later or 2 days later. no inbetween. no matter what conditioner I use or products , no heat no nothin and I just never seem to have any luck with it. I’ve tried hundreds of products cuz I’ll grow it out a bit have no luck cut it shorter again like a Chris evans textured haircut and it’ll grow into Henry cavill hair curls and waves start to show and after some time turn into Timothee chalamet , then cut it again cuz no luck so on so forth for like 7 years now.

Have you tried Jesse's scrunch drying technique? Perm should be a last resort imo
