- From March 1982 an edition of Just a Minute featuring the original 'classic line-up' of Peter Jones, Clement Freud, Derek Nimmo and Kenneth Williams. As ever the chairman is Nicholas Parsons.

My mum is 84 & unwell so I’ve moved in with her & this has been the only thing which has made her laugh in days,she has dementia but remembers this & although she’s probably forgotten it by now I know it will make her smile again tomorrow! & me!
Did she listen to this again?

Thank you for uploading this, have just been reading Nicholas Parsons book on the show and it is great to hear again the voices of Kenneth Williams, Clement Freud, Derek Nimmo and Peter Jones. I was expecting it to sound dated but the humour is as current as if it was recorded yesterday rather than 36 years ago. Wonderful stuff !!

The original panel were quite wonderful. So much wittier and funnier than most of the current lot.
I see this as the golden era coz it's when I was growing up but to be fair, Merton, Toksvig, Brandreth, Clary et al are very good.
Totally agree though I'd add Brandreth to the brilliance of the old 'team players' of the 60s/70s/80s.
Warren I can't bear to listen to it now.

Yea so I'm going to forget by the end of the week but happy birthday my friend.
Nicholas Parsons is still chairing this! (June 2019) I always thought these were the dream team although my opinion is doubtless biased as it was my formative years. Paul Merton, (on the panel now) is arguably the most skilled ever player of the game.
Merton is very much the narcissist who wants it all and takes it all; I like the 'team players' we had in the 60s, 70s and 80s. There are too many narcissists on the panel today that sadly I've stopped watching/listening. I only enjoy 'team players' from those eras I mentioned!
@@Omnicient. That's a bit harsh but he deviates a lot and doesn't get challenged enough for it.

No wonder this tremendously funny and intelligent show has even out lasted the great and now sadly no longer performing members of the cast. Fantastic stuff. I loved it then and still do !
Another fav of mine is Call My Bluff; shame there's not more episodes uploaded (at present).

@@tortysoft I find it more stimulating as it makes you dissect the word and definitions; again so much depends on the panel.

What a class act these five were together, sadly now all gone and streets ahead of anything Paul Merton ever achieved.
Never liked Merton. During his early appearances on the show, as a sore loser and out of spite, he would continuously and repeatedly interrupt the people who successfully challenged him. It was infuriating that he would be allowed to continue doing so for quite a irritatingly long time.
@@pressureworks I do wonder sometimes if he gets the subject on the card in advance.
@@stevebbuk interesting point. Parsons was once asked if Williams knew beforehand what his subjects would be. He said no, but they were subjects he was familiar with.
@@stevebbuk ps, when Parsons passed, i was fearing Merton would get the permanent chair, and the rotation of several different chairpeople was a good idea !!
Giles Brandreth really does sound like Derek Nimmo.

Agreed, so disappointed. The show can still carry on and they'll probably continue to broadcast episodes made after his death but this means I can't listen to any Paul Merton episodes from 1988-2009 because Freud was on most of them. Sick bastard

Parody of how Clement Freud used to cheat at the game. It was amusing reminder of how the show started out. Now i guess that part of the show will be lost.
