  • Took my mate Zack out today on the Logan River. Goal was to land a threadie. We never managed any despite a few bumps here n there. I learnt a lot today. I can now pin point threadies on the new hummingbird setup. It won’t be long before one golden specimen grace my deck 🙂 💪

Really like your latest videos man, good luck on finally landing that thready 🤙🤙I've swapped to doubles on a few of my lures now after some mishaps with trebles. I once pulled a vibe caught in the carpet out with pliers straight into my other hand. Not fun when it happens but the next fish usually makes you forget about the pain hey

Thanks.. I’ll be getting that thready alright :) fingers crossed I won’t be needing to pull trebles out of my body lol

Always carry side cutters in the boat cut the hook off, push it through

I will keep that in mind. I do have a toolkit onboard kept airtight to prevent corrosion. Never thought of adding cutters to it though

Cheers mate. Wasn’t sure whether to upload this one or not but guess that treble jab was worth it lol

After getting a treble buried in my leg by a thrashing flathead, I now make sure I’ve always got some sharp side cutters and a bottle of Dettol in the boat. For some reason I find it’s always the small trebles on little hard bodies that have given me grief.

I’ve yet to get one jabbed in me but seeing how my mate got done on this trip I do realise the seriousness of it. It actually can happen really easily. I often handle larger fish like tuna and mackerel on a solo trip too. If I was to get hooked out somewhere in the middle of Moreton bay etc I’d be in trouble.

@@sonniesfishingadventuresHere’s another technique that’s definitely worth knowing about. A mate used it on me when I had a large treble on a barra lure stuck in my hand when we were fishing in a remote creek up on the Cape some years ago. Do a search on something like “removing a fishing hook with fishing line” and you’ll get a range of videos. Here’s an example. ruclips.net/user/shortsBiesbunNYPY?feature=share

If you do enough fishing there’s a good chance it will happen eventually. Somethings you just can’t unsee lucky you were on hand to get a good grip, it would have been terrible if that fish started thrashing. Short and sweet, still a good one👍
