Dude you're my hero .Ramsey ain't a pimple . Lol I'm in the south tho . And right now I'm stuck in a damed apt. I'm about ready to leave . I need to be back in the weeds . I'm not happy anywhere else.
Coming back to view this classic piece of content in October 2023 near Halloween. For some reason I couldn’t get this delectable dish out of my mind since august, a rewatch was in order and it was a better watch than the original. Kinda like wine, it gets better with age.
By far the best RUclips on RUclips it’s 12.30 am and I can’t sleep as I suffer from severe anxiety depression 😌 in no way I’m looking for sympathy but this man man got me out door sir I did my first catch and cook it was a 2kg flat head so about 4.4 pounds with some butter cooking on fire out doors I’m lowering my dose of meds thanks sir
Your show is FAR better than Gordon Ramsey's. Your channel is one of my favorites by far. I really wish I had a dad / family member like you around - especially when I was growing up. Anyway, thank you for what you do. You allow people, who live in modern society, to see where life's true happiness began is still remains - for 15 to 30 minutes anyways ;)
“Thanks to the magic of video you don’t have to wait till tomorrow to see that”. Exactly! And I like that. So many infos, humor and entertaining. I love this channel
I knew about rigor but didn't know about that for game. Now I'm questioning whether draining a deer asap is still the right choice or not. Everything I was shown as a kid is now in question.
I’m so glad to see you making videos without Zach! I love Zach, I’m just glad to see that you’ve got your own thing going! PLEASE stay on it! Much love from Illinois!
I love being outside, and I am excited to have grouse myself; my mouth was watering when I saw that delicous dish Ovens cooked up. Nothing like a good meal in the bush!
Great Video, Many years ago as a young man, I took my girlfriend camping in the Livingstone mountains and amongst other pleasures we enjoyed a delicious cook up of ruffed grouse and Cutthroat trout in a high mountain meadow/campsite very much as you presented here. Ahhh the good old days, I got a wife and a great hunting/fishing spot out of that trip... the wife lasted 26 years... the Hunting/fishing spot 36 years...then it got clearcut. Oh well, nothing lasts forever...except the memories.
Greg watching your videos brings me back to when my dad tought me Bush craft. a trick he tought me was a salt brine for grose in the latter season helps cut the pine tast when they switch from barrys and seeds to pine needles. oh man i could go for some right now.
Lmao u r too adorable Greg Ovens. I’ve just started watching your videos and I really like how u have the splice ins lol and u really r made for producing your own videos they r hilarious. Glad I found your channel Greg
"You see, this is bush cooking... this isn't some fancy kitchen that we're working with here." "I'll just use a stick to beat this up a bit. Good enough." Hilarious. Love your style Greg.
Hi mate, here in Australia, we have cast iron camp ovens that I think you would hugely benefit from. It is basically just a big steel pot with a steel lid that you can put coals underneath and on top. You can cook so many things in them from, stews to roasts to, breads and cakes! I hope you like the idea and can source them from Canada.
wow, there's some negativity here ..... the aussie dude just suggested something but unfortunately some people turned into a negative ..... c'mon, life is too short my friends .....
I wish I can get you as a fellow survivalist instructor to get to come to the Adirondacks of upstate New York kind of similar to the Rockies but not that's how being in the bush was truly intended on being
My three and five year olds love this program, and regularly ask when Breg Govens has made a new video! WE all love your videos. Keep up the great work. BTW, I will try all your recipes.
Hey Greg, great video, you remind me of me. I'm 73, lived in remote Alaska all my life except for 6 years in the military and have lived off the land and love it to this day. I'm sure if you lived here we would be great friends. I'll be watching all your videos. Thanks for sharing.
I'm so glad you have kept doing the videos after the 30 day challenge. It was weird to hear the intro without that opening montage. I do enjoy the little cuts into the video also. And was that Zach dressed up like Sasquatch and inserted lol? And thanks for all that info about rigor mortis (spelling) and wild game. That's great info I never even heard of.
🤣 parm ~ A ~ zon ... Looks delicious. I'm going to try this with my kids this fall in a dutch oven over the fire. Maybe some fresh chanterelles or hen of the woods added. Love your channel and rustic ways.
I don't care about the truck as you can see, she get's me in the bush that's all I care Truck: :'( Puts broken eggshell right on windshield Truck: :'( Truck: :'(
Awesome, God bless Greg Ovens,. Your videos just bring me into another and way better world. Thanks a lot Greg. Keep going Alex, french fan of yours. 👍

Mmm... I'm going hunting for the first time this year, and I figured I'd start with forest grouse, as they're included with my Washington state small game license. A lot easier to clean/dress and carry back to camp than a deer or elk, too.
100%. Most kids these days look up to famous and rich evil people that couldn't care less about them. They should be looking up to good hard working people that can teach them real things that will help them out in life.
I always learn something from your videos Greg. I did not know about the rigor mortis making the meat though. Thanks a bunch! Im still waiting to purchase a ferro rod from YOU.
Bushcraft and survival (wilderness or otherwise) is dependent on being able to improvise and adapt using a well practiced skill set. Greg, you are really good at demonstrating this principle in every video you do. You also show that a fella can enjoy doing this without a massive budget. Excellent content!
10:40 “One thing I find in the bush is, ah... one of the BEST implements that you can have - is a STICK! They’re so handy!” ~ Greg Ovens Are they hard to find? LOL!

Gosh Greg, your style is so refreshing, compared to all these wannabe Bushcrafters. You are one with nature, so original. Keep it going!
Mother of god this is going on my bucket list.....
Gordon really enjoyed that meal of yours by the sound of it. I’m surprised he didn’t give ya a Mitchellin star

We call them Dutch Ovens here in the States. My mother makes some of the best blackberry cobbler on the coals...and now I'm hungry.
@Aaron P.B. I don't know if you're being sarcastic but I for one am unfamiliar with cat iron

Don’t hate if he is eating animals it’s for survival and you can eat birds
Why would someone hate that?
@D G If The Lord hadn't meant for us to eat animals, He wouldn't have made them out of meat. ;)
