  • Have you ever received an Excel file that had a table already laid out in a pivot table format, but you wanted to have the source table it came from so you could do more analysis (slicing and dicing). Maybe the format your recieved it in was great for one type of analysis but you wanted it in a proper table format so you could create another pivot table to change stuff to your hearts content. If its a small table performing copy/paste may not be so bad, but if it was a large table or something that happened on a recurring basis, that would get tiring. Plus writing VBA is not your cup of tea. Well here's Power Query to the rescue! By using the unpivot feature in Power Query, this can be done fairly quickly and painlessly. See the video for all the Power Query goodness.
