Correction to the beautiful translation. Incorrect translation: I love walnut, rose wood, but I love palisander more. Mr. Ghadban said: I love walnut, I love rose wood, I love Palissander (another name for rosewood) as well... In contrast to guitar building tradition, Not all oud builders 'like' rosewood the best, and to my understanding most still prefer walnut. Rosewood is great, but let's save some of those trees. Love this video!
Very nice Hand made Oud My salute to Mr Nasih Ghadban ... Dear Sir Can You Tell Me What String Did you used in This Video Where You play .. its Very clear And Soft
Why is the sound board always made from 2 halves? Why can’t it be one solid piece? This strange!

Oud is awesome. The Chinese pipa that I play is also a branch of oud family, though it must be a pain in the ass to tune it, for it has like 11 strings? lol
Yes 11 is standard for a 6-course oud. Tuning is quite easy because the strings usually don't go far out of tune on their own. Restringing takes about half an hour.
If you're looking for an oud to learn on, I recommend you to buy a commercial one for many reasons, the most important reason is that it will be much cheaper than buying from a professional specialist like the one in the video. They have a very small market but they deliver excellent quality for high prices, which you don't really need if you're learning. I believe if you google oud shops online you'll find plenty of which they will deliver it to your doorstep. But if you're professional and looking for specific designs/attributes that you found in this video then his website is oudnazihghadban com (add the dot). Have fun :)
I don't like the way the oud sounds at all. Our instruments here in America are WAY BETTER. The oud cannot beat the Fender Stratocaster or the Jackson Randy Roahds frs1 or the Les Paul Gibson guitars! If it was fretted, maybe it would sound better.
+Anton Kasch You are speaking about something that is ancient and used for different types of music , yes some American instruments are better for different types of music. For ancient middle eastern this is the best for it's class. This is over 1000 years old vs your 200 year old instruments in America.
+Anton Kasch You neglected the facts of the Mideastern music and its multi tonalities, such as Rast, bayat, saba, sika, huzam scales etc cannot be played on a modern fretted instrument! Each culture has its own music, instruments and approaches. The middle East is not Europe or USA! I love the sound of the Oud it is very warm. It is a matter of tast as well, and if you do not like it, I understand that. The oud is the grand father of the guitar and a father of the European lute! Peace
I am sorry for insulting your middle eastern instruments. I think it would be cool if they had an electrical oud. Maybe the oud craftsmen should try making an electric oud as an experimental instrument.
Man, if you lived in my town I would be buying instruments from you every year. Hell, I might even want to hang around and apprentice. Excellent work!
Im Armenian and we also play the oud. We have played it for thousands of years as well. Its a beautiful instrument
No, the oud hasn't existed for thousands of years. Various stringed instruments, yes, but not the modern oud.
@@DrewKaneApparently the earliest record of the oud, starts before the creation of the barbat, where it had been found in Sumerian manuscripts. American guitars was inspired by the middle eastern oud! Oud is the oldest guitar and probably the first!
