Les is More😊 You are So amazing . Truly. You make things so comprehensible. I am spell bound. Since you asked.... Home made meat jerky. Best Storage ???
Hi, for O2 absorber storage, I would vacuum seal them in the same bag they came with or I'd use a new vacuum sealer bag. If you have a lot of O2 absorbers, reseal them into smaller bags. That way, you use only what you need without affecting the entire batch.
I store my rice and oats in mylar bags with o ab and place in large totes that I get from food 4 patriots to lessen the chance of rodens getting at them and place up high on a shelf thanksfor sharing👍
Those are good for dehydrated and dried foods like dried fruits and similar type foods. But, if moisture is a problem or might be a problem, the food shouldn't be stored with O2 absorbers or vacuum sealing. Hope this helps.
What about silica absorbers? Could you use silica and 02 absorbers? I store all of my food in 1 quart mylar bags. I don't want to open anything before I really need it. I'm referring to rice, dried beans and pasta for dry storage. Mention anything else that could be used in this method. All of the mylar bags go into 5 gallon buckets.
i ordered a pkg of dried clams from asian store, want to break it down into 4oz/8oz jars, have no clue where to begin, same thing w large pkg of "dehydrated strawberries"
They do work by reacting with oxygen, but I think they are more "chemically" inclined than O2 absorbers. They may have stuff that isn't good for food in them. The heat they generate might cause some condensation? Not sure. I think I would stick with O2 absorbers. Hope this helps.
Great informative video. As far as storing the canning jars in a dark location you could paint them. Painting the jars eliminates the light and you can put them directly on a shelf in a lighted room.NOTE; don’t paint the bottom and you will be able to see what is in the jar. Here is a video on one way tp paint glass jars: ruclips.net/video/YZJ7Y46UoZA/видео.html&ab_channel=MasonCreationsetc.
??? My thoughts are that the O2 absorbers only take a few minutes to an hour to do all its work ... Silica packs take if not hours , but days to work . THIS would lead me to think using Both is actually best ???

I store my rice and oats in mylar bags with o ab and place in large totes that I get from food 4 patriots to lessen the chance of rodens getting at them and place up high on a shelf thanksfor sharing👍
What about also using desiccant for storage to remove moisture?
Those are good for dehydrated and dried foods like dried fruits and similar type foods.
But, if moisture is a problem or might be a problem, the food shouldn't be stored with O2 absorbers or vacuum sealing.
Hope this helps.
@@ChefPrepper Thank you for your answer and clarification 👍🏻.

Those probably should be stored with Silica dessicant moisture absorber.
They are probably not dry enough to store with O2 absorbers.
Hope this helps.
how many ounces are these containers? your first rice jar is ? oz?
It's at 11:47
Small plastic bottle 16 oz.
Jar 32 oz.
Next biggest was 2 liter
Biggest was a gallon.
Hope this helps.
Any idea if hand warmers will work as well? When they are activated they must have oxygen. To shut them down you just put them in a plastic bag.
They do work by reacting with oxygen, but I think they are more "chemically" inclined than O2 absorbers. They may have stuff that isn't good for food in them.
The heat they generate might cause some condensation?
Not sure.

Dude I got all kinds of open mylar bags on my table and I just need to know how much to put in each bag without watching all kinds of stuff going on
