What a thoroughly disturbing tale. Of course I’ve shared it with some loved ones I’d like to disturb- what, being Xmas and all. Mr Lewis has some imagination. Thanks very much Jasper.
You have made L.A. Lewis one of my favorite authors! I have loved all your narrations of his tales! You have such a gift for making his gruesome stories so unsettling. They stick with me for days. 😁 …..I know there were some hiccups with this one but it was well worth the wait!!! ✨Thank you so much Jasper!!! ✨🐙
Thanks Jasper. Another great production; excellent story too. I'm only grateful that we don't get smell through the intetnet! Just remembering what the bottom of a rotting fish-pond smelled like is bad enough! 💚💚💚💚
I'm a little late to the party, but man, am I glad I made it! This story was deliciously told and satisfyingly consumed. I picked up the hard back Tales of the Grotesque- the extended version- by L A Lewis because of the amazing introduction that you've produced & presented. Thank you for once again highlighting a masterful but not well known (in the 21st Century, at least) author whose works I'm now discovering and devouring. Bravo, Jasper.
@@terryIKE69 Very interesting chap, Lewis, writing at the time when horror authors were beginning to get more sensationalist, but his stuff has more than just shock value I think. Bit of a sad life he led. You have to wonder how much of the damage was down to the war 😔. Glad to have introduced you to him.
Bloody brilliantly read as always. Incidentally, I wrongly accused you of sounding like William Hague, but had you confused with Ian Gordon, one of the “fabulous 4” (Y’all know who I mean, right? )
Thank you for keeping me company and moving forward through the saddest time of the year for me. My late husband loved Christmas and was so good at it, I loved it for the first time in my life while we were together. His birthday was December 29 and our wedding anniversary was January 1st. We chose that day to be reasonably sure of both having a day off work to celebrate together. A lot of emotion crammed into a short space of time. Wonderful for a while, 10 years, and awfully hard for the past 25. You have made this year easier through your entertaining distractions and the compassion for the human condition I hear in your voice. I probably just imagine that compassion thing. If so, don't disabuse me of it, please. Keep doing the work you do as long as it feeds your body and soul and not one second longer. ❤
It can be a terribly sad time of year when it reminds you of your loss, can't it? We''ve lost a father and a sister-in-law in the last few years and I've found, particularly this year for some reason, I'm even tearing up at old episodes of Top of the Pops! It's not just nostalgia, is it? It's a genuine ache for what's gone that you can never get back. But, oh, to have them back... Glad you find strange comfort in these often quite morbid tales 😄 as I know others do. And thank you for always listening and commenting 🙏
I've very much enjoyed your renditions of L.A. Lewis. He always takes the visceral horror a step or two further than I'm expecting, often establishing a good psychological setup before hitting the reader with some gruesome body horror in the final act (as he does here, but also in "The Child" and "The Meerschaum Pipe"). He certainly doesn't shy away from describing a rotting or dismembered corpse! I'm more used to authors like M.R. James who tend to leave a bit more to the imagination, so Lewis's willingness to turn things up to eleven (as Spinal Tap would put it) is a fun change of pace.
Great story and narration! This one is creepy and good, as are they all! I love the picture you used. There is something about that green... Thanks, and have a great weekend!!
Mr Lewis really is grizzly! Thank you, Jasper, for that story, l now have the stench of stagnant green water in my nose and the idea of that ring in my thoughts. 😱
Just got in from walking my cat, into bed with flannel sheets, a nice contrast to the 48 degree outside weather, and i get to cozy up with a classic spook story. I'm a sucker for the type of story that goes like: "paranormal things are happening to regular Joe\Josephine in their home" Thanks, Jasper.
I Jasper, I think this is your most wonderful performance so far, and this story the most gruesome and horrific. And both bloody marvellous. Best Christmas gift ever!! Thank you SO much XXX
No. He didn't return to the other dimension either physically or in spirit. He's just 'normal' dead, as is she now. At least that's what it seems to suggest - I'm honestly not sure if the missing fingers are anything other than a cherry on top. I suppose his finger is trapped in the shadow realm, but such is death.
Here's another ghoulish tale from L.A. Lewis. Hope you enjoy 🙏
That was what I consider the best story I've heard by this author and performed flawlessly (as always) by Mr. Lestrange. Thanks to both of you !
This story made me feel creepy, unsettled and disturbed...do it again!
I think this was one of the most disturbing stories I have ever heard, thanks to your expert reading of the passage from the other dimension.✨️💚✨️
I very much like Lewis' writing style, the tale was atmospheric and decidedly creepy... and, of course, as always, hauntingly narrated.
What a thoroughly disturbing tale. Of course I’ve shared it with some loved ones I’d like to disturb- what, being Xmas and all.

How very thoughtful of you 😂.

Sweet dreams - Not sure I ever want to go to sleep again! - Brilliant narration as always!
It truly feels like Christmas!
Always enjoy your narrations Jasper
If ever the implied "don't have nightmares" message at the end of the story was needed, it's this time.
Nothing says festive season like sleeping with a rotting carcass.
Ha ha, my thought exactly,
Good one..... Hi from newzealand 😮
Wow...that one was quite gnarly 😂 - fantastic narration and great tale!!
Bloody brilliantly read as always.

One of the spookiest stories I've ever heard. The way Carey said "It can't be haunted!" gave me chills!💀💀💀
Glad you liked it! 😊
Best narration I think I have ever heard. Bravo. Great story as well. Very creepy and slimy. Thank you.
Great story and narration!
This one is creepy and good, as are they all!

Well executed as always. Thank you!
Simply having a Horrible Christmas Time!!!!
Sweet a bedtime story!
A great story and one I was hoping would add a new psychic researcher to the role call.
One of the best iv heard
Thank you 😊

This might be the scariest story ive ever heard.
Never going back in the water..🥺

Wait, so does not having the ring mean he's stuck there?! 😢

Wow! Never go pike fishing 😄👻
Ye gods - deliciously disturbing and beautifully narrated.
Off to catch a Pike!
