Estella McCarty uses vegan leather which is pleather and charges luxury prices , and nobody bats an eye, LV is canvas ( which is cotton with plastic ) and the prices are astronomical again nobody bats an eye, Loewe raffia bags are over 1k , so I don't get the controversy in the price, is ok that people don't like but getting outraged when luxury houses charge thousands for pleather ,canvas and plastic really does baffle me, because those brands don't get critique over it 🤷. Regarding the tag, lots of luxury houses have changed to microchips to be able to hold authenticity and buying history, so it's the same here, I hardly doubt Coach cares about tracking anyone, your cellphone, bank account and Social security number already do that for you 😅
I completely agree with you regarding the bonded leather issue! Bonded leather is known not to last long; they did a study on bonded leather furniture and found that it starts peeling and cracking only 2-5 years after purchase. To me this means it’s definitely not a sustainable product that’s good for the environment. Buying a full-grain leather bag that lasts for decades and can easily be refurbished is much better for the environment, but bad for Coach’s revenue stream of course 😅. I only have a couple of vintage coach bags as most of my beloved vintage is LV. My vintage and modern Coach bags all look like new, I take great care of them and the craftsmanship of vintage Coach is beyond excellent (even my moderns are lovely, I have to say. As long as you stay away from their Outlet stuff). I would like to get a Tabby eventually, but my bag closet is full at the moment 😂
I'll admit I'm still a little soured on Coach lately because of what they did with the ReLoved line, buying up vintage bags and refurbishing them then charging a premium price for them. As someone who has collected vintage Coach and refurbished more than a few of them, there's no way a refurbished vintage Coach bag is worth like $600! Ugh. I'm also not Gen Z or whatever they're directly marketing the Coachtopia line towards, so I guess I'll stick with my vintage bags for my vintage age! Thanks for the review and the opinion piece. The bonded leather aspect alone would prevent me from picking up any of these bags, especially at that price point.
This is the biggest controversy i have heard about the Coachtopia line : that of the "bonded leather". Which i agree, the cost should reflect the fact that it is not a full leather bag. However, there is also part of me that loves that Coach is making a market for this [as much as 20% of a hide of leather is discarded after use. Many brands make small leather items such as keychains and jewelry to further minimize waste. Me, i purchase it and use it for my little biz]. I would also be curious to know the longevity of these Coachtopia bonded bags. Faux leather is terrible for the environment...it doesn't last and it peels. I wonder the same about cactus and apple leathers other brands are promoting and charging "real leather" prices for. I guess long story short - only time will tell if these pieces are worth the price paid. And perhaps that is what the cloud tag is for - to see if these lives up to the leathers we know and love from Coach. However, kudos to Coach and Stuart Vevers for trying to make a positive change in the industry.
Good lord, conspiracy theories?? COACH Tracking us??? - It’s just a purse 😂😂😂 That being said, it’s a cute bag, love the concept and the styles. I’ll be getting one! And I’m not worried in the slightest of being tracked 😉
honestly i think people give the idea of being watched too much credit, I don’t think their idea of tracking will be that detailed at all lol I wouldn’t worry either
@@aoki556 You're right. It's less being tracked that one has to be concerned about. The indiscriminate scooping up of data that Coach doesn't need and doesn't right now have use for that is then sold on to data-brokers is the underlying issue. No one care where you go now, but being able to predict where you *will*go and what you will buy is the money-maker. I wish they'd just focus on making quality, sustainable product.
I think the price is completely fair. Yes they are suing scrap but their is also beautiful craftsmanship, many other luxury brands do this. Love your bag, such a beautiful color.
Not $10 😂😂😂 I agree with the overpricing .. probably the reason it died down now and no one’s fighting over this bag 9 months later.. a $100 yes more reasonable but not close to $300. Thanks for the review ❤
I love the Ergo style. I see Coach has brought back some Ergo bags. I’ve had black and saddle in the past but return due to slipping off the shoulder. Do you have this problem? I prefer the older Ergo style over Coachtopia.
Great review! I agree with all of your comments. I don't mind the chip. All that said, I'm not a micro bag person so it's a pass for me. Wish they'd sell the chains & key tags separately!
I was able to pick up the check pattern in blue/purple and black/white. I was just really obsessed with the pattern. I believe those bags are not bonded leather but still the quality is not great. I ended up returning the black/white. I was just not loving the leather and boldness of contrasting colors. The blue/purple leather quality felt better still not great for the price.
Sis as much as I love Coach ( I’ve been a loyal fan since the 90’s) I’m not here for the Coachtopia brand right now. There seems to be a lot of greenwashing going on and not enough visual transparency. I’d love to know how these items hold up after 90 days though. For the record, I’ve had my small Ergo since the 90’s and she’s in great condition. If Coachtopia can convince me that their products will last just as long, then I just might place an order for their sustainable Ergo. Also, if Coach wanted their loyal customers to jump on board, maybe they should’ve scaled back on their pricing from the jump, pitch their products to a wider demographic and maybe we’d be more receptive of their regenerative goods. Until then, it’s a no for me. Oh…and this is not a rant. Or is it?😂
Hay Mama Beech here is vital information about your bag. An expert tested that particular Bag on his Chanel "Tanner Leathersteine" Titled - 'New COACH initiative disciphered!' And its not whole real leather.
Hi, is your Coach Insider referral link still working? When I click on it, it just takes me to Coach's main page instead of to sign up for the Insider program, so I was wondering if that's normal. Thanks!
Personally, I would have not kept it. It's anticlimactic.😅 Thanks for clarifying what Coachtopia is. I was quite confused. When you talked about how the bags are made, I strangely was thinking about the possibility of the bag being full of carcinogens, since it is a mix of trash. 😱😆 I do keep seeing them these days. The bow versions and some of the patent versions are really cute. 😊🩷Thanks for sharing.
Im not a fan of them charging what they do for what it is.....nor is it entirely full leather. Personally, real leather is probably better for the environment than any other materials (esp somethng like vegan leather which is basically plastic)

Not to mention, are the chemicals they use in bonded leather environmentally friendly? Idk, just posing the question.

Yup and only refurbished phones can worth $600 or more, but a bag? No way!

I am in love with your ergo 33, it’s a way more practical bag! Thank you for the excellent review as always!

Bought the coach ergo bow bag I feel like the quality could have been better and the packaging could have been nicer but overall I love my bag 🩷

It does slip sometimes! I think that is something that might go away with age as the leather softens and the strap becomes less stiff.

I’ve seen it! I thought it was even worse than I imagined it might be
@@MamaBeech So sorry I tought that too because I was getting ready to explore that website myself. Think I will stick with the Outlet website.

Thanks for letting me know! I generated a new link and the same thing is happening so I’ll try to work it out with coach customer care.
Thanks for the review.
What is the bright blue bag at the top left of the middle section?
Alexander Wang Rockie bag in Lagoon color: ruclips.net/video/eEw0RGKsWiI/видео.html
i love what try to do but I would just buy retail or outlet
I agree! I should have mentioned in my video that even outlet bags are better quality leather than this technically
@@MamaBeech I do not shop outlet for meI should spend S700 dollors for coach retail bag I keep all coach bags it lasts
