  • NEWSFLASH: (CNN) New York City declares a climate emergency. It's the largest city in the US, with over 8.62 million inhabitants.
The New York City Council passed the legislation Wednesday [June 26th], calling for an immediate response to the global climate crises. The bill referenced several reports on the state of global warming and its impact, imparting that extreme weather events brought about by rising temperatures demonstrates that the planet is "too hot to be a safe environment."

It's a disgrace to be a Canadian. We aren't leading to stop climate change. We are still supporting corporations. There needs to be a separation of corporation and state. People fighting climate change aren't talking about stores open seven days a week burning fossil fuels that have their lights on. It's no different than plastic bags etc. I can honestly see the end coming. People are addicted to shopping, even if they aren't shopping. It bothers people that if the stores are closed, what will they do if they need something? It's simple plan ahead. Use your cell phone to remind you of items that you need ahead of time. Another lying propaganda lie told to people having stores open seven days a week creates work. Have you seen everything open seven days a week to create work? One example in my area are letter carriers they work Monday to Friday delivering mail at a good wage. Retail workers work low income and there shifts are spread out in a seven day cycle. It's easy to take advantage of low income people when you pay them poverty wages. It's easy to be open all these hours , because of low wages. Now that people think they need something open all the time baffles me. Life hasn't improved for the workers. The public has been scammed. Families no longer have time to be together and our planet is suffering the consequences as well. Everything from lights to clear cutting etc has to be changed. We are in a climate breakdown. Animals are becoming extinct. More diseases, wild fires. I honestly see the end coming and it bothers me. It bothers me that all the people speaking out about climate change don't even discuss store hours. I guess they are scared of losing support. Just remember a majority of people can be wrong about anything. So corporations & the media have people believing the majority of people love to shop seven days a week. We have been lied and scammed so many times over shopping hours it's hard to know what everyone thinks. If we don't change our ways and soon mother nature will do it for you. We'll have no store hours. Storms will knock out power, food will be scarce . The writing is on the wall. I know I have a challenge to change your mind. It's like convincing a alcoholic to give up beer if he doesn't want to. But it can be done. People once believed that Harper was a good Prime Minister , and he was voted out. So there is always hope that the majority will wake up before it's too late. If you agree isn't it time you also take a stand? Your silence is helping these corporations destroy this planet. ( My comments to all the people fighting Climate change)
    In Canada and the world.

Show them the proof geologists used thru taking large cores of Earth. It shows the temp changes and shows the huge increase over the past 100yrs of industrial revolution. Its irrefutable.
Ppl take chances with their religion, faith based, no real proof, and alter their lifestyles so they may have everlasting life. That is not irrefutable but they live as it is. (As an example).
Scientists study n create medicine and tell us to live a healthy lifestyle. Ppl trust them when stricken with diseases.
The Earth is a living organism just like all other living organisms and Earth is sick and becoming erratic. If a person gets too hot, we can die from heat stroke.
Its sad America is #1 in climate change denial. We know what that is about. Oh, Bhutan’s CO2 emissions are in the neg bc how they live.
I dont have ppl around me claiming its bs, but perhaps we should round up lots of examples like these as ammo to counter their corp conspiracy claims, n share them.
Its worth the try. Good luck.

Finally some politicians get it. This is great news but its a dollar short and a day too late. Call me a pessimist but if we weren't at 1.8°C already with at least another degree baked in, it would be encouraging. Catastrophic damage has already occurred, a mass extinction is well underway, runaway climate change is now a given. I would be interested when they figure out a way to refreeze the Arctic or even expediently pull CO2 from the environment at scale. As it stands, this legislation is little more than lip service for abrupt climate change deniers that want to further the status quo of our industrial civilization. Infinite growth on a finite planet is unsustainable. When something is unsustainable, by definition, it will end.

The world should be reorganizing itself into more efficient smaller units. A city & a surrounding area for agriculture, with its own energy supply,is ideal. The great benefit to this is that the people can control more easily their environment. For example, would a city state of Flint allow the poisoning of their water supply? The time of stateless corporations, beholden to no population of citizens, must end. The globalization of finance & industry has allowed for the destruction of the environment in places where they do not even pay the locals for the privilege. A national government is quite happy to allow mining in their territory, despite any protest against it by people who will be directly affected by it. Democracy truly works when the decision makers live amongst the people they are making decisions for.

Thank you for the important video.
Sorry for the translation errors. I'm using google translator.
For those who are not longtime scientists and researchers, we are not sure whether the planet and humans can be saved from extinction or not, because there are experts with differing opinions. So the only certainty we have is about the logical consequences, as if the planet is destroyed, so will human beings. If the planet is damaged, we will suffer the consequences, as if we make a hole in the boat, the boat sinks with the whole family. If we drive recklessly, we could have a fatal disaster, or get off the road and fall off a cliff. If we lay our hands on the fire, we will suffer painful burns, and if we saw the support beams of our house, the house collapses above our heads. So, as we know, it is necessary to live very carefully, also in relation to our Planet, observing the consequences that may happen in the future, so as not to get into tragedies and great sufferings. There is an absolute worldwide certainty, without divergent opinions, observed, studied and proven by all scientists, researchers and geniuses of all mankind, since the ancient time of the great geniuses, as the 5th century BC Greek mathematician and architect Phidias who designed the Parthenon, the Greek mathematician and father of geometry Euclid 2300 years ago, the Greek philosopher Plato, the 13th century Italian mathematician Leonardo Fibonacci of the Middle Ages, the 16th century Italian monk Luca Pacioli, the scientist, mathematician, inventor, painter , Italian engineer, architect and botanist Leonardo da Vinci and others, whose absolute certainty says that everything, absolutely everything in the universe, from the atoms of our DNA to the infinite galaxies, absolutely everything, was and is created, without lack, the famous Golden Ratio, or the Divine Ratio, which is harmony, perfection, common sense, and balance. If the Creator Energy of the Universe is so keen to keep absolutely everything within that standard of harmony, perfection, common sense and balance, then, without a doubt, it also makes a point of keeping absolutely everything within the Order, Ethics and Justice, a fact that has also been observed and proven from ancient times to today by the many events that followed many human beings, as if it were a universal rule or an immutable universal law, rewarding and rewarding deserving people, and otherwise correcting and compensating for the imbalances of others. Thus, for example, if an individual causes harm to a person or the environment, and does not take appropriate steps to correct his mistake and compensate him in some way, common sense tells us that he will need to suffer somehow the correctives and compensations needed, when the time is right and in sync with the Universe, so that the unbalance of their attitude is corrected and the equilibrium of the Universe restored, just as the rectilinear and uniform equilibrium of the water surface of the oceans is always corrected and restored, unfailingly and invariably, even if a single drop of water is removed from them. Therefore, as we know, in order to have a peaceful, safe life, peace and happiness, it is certainly smarter and more advantageous to undoubtedly seek to live and do everything with kindness of heart and detachment of spirit in relation to one's neighbor and one's surroundings. environment, and try to do everything we can, under the conditions we are in, to correct and compensate for some flaws, for which we believe we have some responsibility. So, whatever happens to the Planet or the World, we will be at peace with our own Consciousness, knowing that we have done our best to live as properly as possible under the conditions we were in.
