@@quanitathompson6994 girl u are so right I have a one yr old boy and I am so sick of these gnats coming in my kitchen they have taken over and me thinking ACV was gonna work I Baught hella bottles turns out that shi don’t work
I got the little apple things but I think the solution included is weak. I added ACV and my own dish detergent and it’s working pretty well. Also using plastic cups with ACV and dish detergent, covered with plastic wrap with little holes. The sticky fly tape seems to be working as well. I also cover my sink drains with clean rags and pour half strength bleach solution over the rags because those things lay eggs in your drains. I only remove the rags to use the sinks then re cover the drains. Your parents will continue to have a big problem though with all the plants dried flowers and fruit laying around. They need to clean up a bit.
@@itsmiame you can get everything at Walmart for a small price. Get some of those clear plastic cups in the aisle with paper plates and such. The small clear cups work well. Pour a half cup of apple cider vinegar in the cup and add just a few drops of dish detergent. Cover the cups with plastic wrap and put a rubber band around the plastic to keep a good seal. Punch a few small holes in the plastic with a fork. In a few days you will see many dead bugs. Also, the sticky tape fly traps are cheap and work well in areas of heavy flea infestation.
Don't forget they lay the eggs in the soil. Thanks for the tip about the drains. I have to remember that. Also, use Sevin on the plant leaves and soil. I would use powder for a 3 days, but do not get the powder on the leaves or they will burn the them. Use the spray on the leaves.
The raid spray does not work, it just coat the wings so they can't get up if the spray enough... waste of money, and the apple looking trap works but you need to keep refreshing liquid every 2 days for the best results. I ended up just using apple vinegar, suger and soap drop trick with it because finding refills wasn't to easy or cost a bit after a while.
No method is great, except one idea I tried. The little peroxide bottles at Walmart, it's like a dollar and change, they produce a very thin mist, buy one, toss the peroxide, put 8 drops of concentrated dish soap and water, shake it up well. Using hot water will speed up the mixing process. When you see them, spray them, they can't fly away, carry a dish rag or paper towel or whatever, you'll be making a mess every surface you spray on but you'll be killing tons of them, just wipe the spot and kill the fruit fly and clear the moisture. You can keep 98% of them dead doing this for 5 minutes each day. Also Isopropyl alcohol is extremely effective in this same way but it costs far more.
My experience fruit fly trap with the vinegar drops attracts more fly’s but you do catch many of them. The fly strip trap kind of sucks dont catch many, maybe in the long run but i dont want to keep a noticeable strip of glue around the house lol. Raid i think would be the best only because it kills instantly but like the other products they dont prevent them from reproducing
I have used those fly traps and don't work very well. The fly tape has worked very well compared. I don't konw, maybe it is wher you put them. Put them near your plants, soil is where they lay their eggs.
@@Jay_Rule your telling me lol yeah i have to use hand sanitizer to cut some of the glue off off my fingers. ive used some of my wife’s exfoliating face scrub on my hand sometimes and it surprisingly work better then regular soap even the gojo brand. Ive been getting a work out just swinging this thing around i catch about 10 in like a minute running inside then outside. But they some how reproduce the next day.
@@zito4116 Smokers are nice for outside. They work very well against mosquitoes. You just have to make sure you are surrounded by a couple of torches at a party. The Fruit Fly trap does not really work very well. I have tried Sevin, because I have problems with nats. They will not die off for some reason. I heard apple cider vinegar and liquid detergent work quite well. You can even add some fruit peels in there to attract more insects. The fly sticks are effective but look ugly when you invite people over lol.
@@barbaramay9288 Have you ever heard of hydroponics? Plants don't use soil for that. Also, there are two types of soils you can buy. 😅I had a family member who kept their house this way...what a coincidence because they had the same problems. As long as those plants and food are out, you will never get rid of them. Those dead plants needs to be gotten rid of, because fungus gnats live and thrive in the soil. The living plants needs to have the soil replaced and a fungus gnat trap placed in it. All food sources need to be covered at all times and fruit needs to be placed in the fridge. They love food that's about to rot. ALL drains should be covered when not in use. Put those above the TV, or above where you normally sit, and you will see a colony of gnats land on them. Hope this info helps!!
