Idk everyone I know knows electric feel, time to pretend, and kids. They are pretty well-known among the younger generation. However, this song is extremely underrated. A masterpiece
If u aren't a musician u may miss some of what makes this song so incredible. The constant key changes are so unnoticeable, even within each "phase" of the song. The theme of the melody somehow stays intact while Andrew seemingly plays whatever chord he wants at any given moment. Then there's the lyrics.. I hold this recording up as high as "Don't Talk, Put Your Head On My Shoulder" from Pet Sounds
Andrew gives me a hecca strong sense of comfort and chill. like you have your freind over and you guys chill out and watch movies together with beer. and what hes wearing pushes that even further. AND SIBERIAN BREAKS IS ALSO COMFORTING. MGMT feels like home
I'm obsessed with this performance. There is just something about it... it captivates you. I've never had a performance do that before. These guys really are geniuses. Damn...

This is such an awesome song. It reminds me of The Beatles' several songs in one phase - Day in the Life, You Never Give Me Your Money, Walrus. This just keeps changing and going off in different directions. Wow!
I couldn't agree on this any more! You're right, they do capture the essence what The Beatles had, and that is what makes them so different and alive! Phenomenal indeed

I'm a musician (not that it gives me any authority on the topic) and I can tell you that for a song as complicated as Siberian Breaks a radio station will not be prepared for what MGMT accomplished in this performance. Ben had to carry the load on keys because usually they have at least 2 other members on strings for this incredible opus of a song that somehow landed on their 2nd album. Their 1st album is unbelievably good. Hadn't heard a debut album as good as Oracular Spectacular since The Strokes- Is This It and MGMT blew that album away. Andrew and Ben are the real deal, the music is accessible for the masses yet so incredibly complicated that musicians can't ignore their greatness. I also really respect the fact that they turned Jay Z down when he asked to collaborate. They also were approached by fucking RADIOHEAD and had the wisdom to deny them as well.
