When I was about 12 we moved to Connecticut. My father got a job as a teacher/coach at this very elite, elite prep school. {Choate-St Pauls-Groton-Taft-Hotchkiss-Andover-Lawrenceville} one of those types. Heck, we'd lived in the wilds of the northeast before that. I was till wearing white socks and hush puppies. Anyway, all of a sudden I was surrounded by the children of the most powerful families in America. {You can imagine the change.}.............At the school there would always be 3 or 4 young men who had the look of Paul America. Paul looks like someone from New Canaan or Lake Forest Illinois a very wealthy family which came over on the Mayflower and had had money and good "genes" for 250 years. Look at him. He's beautiful. Honestly. He's as handsome a man as you could ever imagine. I remember once at this school my father worked at there was a young man wholooked very much like Paul America. I think his father was the ambassador to Venezuela or Bermuda. I was good looking when I was young but paled in comparison to someone like Paul America who is handsome beyond words.
Yes I read about Paul america.he had a turbulent life.sad ending at age 38.a few of those actors and actresses who worked for andy Warhol had sad endings.jackie Curtis Andrea Feldman and candy darling all died too soon and tragically.i think ondine died of aids.
Yes, makes me wonder if that reflects badly on Warhol more than the actors themselves or not. It looked like doing acid and speed together everyday was Paul’s downfall. Such an obviously bad thing to do, what was he thinking? Rip

He wouldt have had the fame and money he had if it weren't for Paul america and others working for him for free.candy darling wanted to be a big movie star.she wanted to do Myra Breckenridge but she did not get the role.she was in Warhol movies.but then he dumped her when he decided that he wanted women to play leading ladies in his movies.candy darling lived as a woman referred to herself as a woman but never had the surgery that physically made her/him a lady.so Warhol dumped darling.how callous.andrea Feldman I think her name was jumped off a building.she committed suicide.jackie Curtis died of a drug overdose.candy darling died of cancer.paul america did not live to see 40.a pitiful waste of human beings.and Warhol cashed in on them and got fame and money by using and exploiting them.warhol has always given me creepy vibes.

So there was no money to be had for the actors. Andy gave them his platform. It was then down to them what they did with that. Truth is most didnt have any talent they just had "a look". Candy darling could not act. Edie was pretty & charming but zero talent. Joe hot looking but useless talent. Most were also into drugs that was the whole scene back then. Andy wasnt into drugs so that had nothing to do with him. They were just living a crazy party life. Andy had no control over what they did. He couldnt handle their erratic behaviour. Paul america was another hustler who used rich people to get money & work. he stole from people hence why andy blacklisted him. He borke into peoples houses. Andy moved away from making films & started to focus on making money after he got shot. His manager Fred hughes really turned him into a big business by mostly doing Portraits for the rich & famous. That became his big money maker. Films didnt make him any money it was a labor of love.
