      136,268.89 Dongs (Vietnam) IMPORTANT solder things! solder has an area of temperature where is called plastic, (USE 63/37!)not solid not liquid... 50/50 solder is highest melt point 60 40 is just under that BOTH WITH ABOUT 15-25+degrees of plastic on between solid and melt point! 63 37 is about 25 degrees lower melt temp and only has 1 DEGREE of plastic area! Which means it will melt quick and then harden quick! Soldering you want highest heat you can put out to heat it and get out! Also for in the field, a regular little butane torch can have a tip attached for cheap cheap cheap for field soldering or anywhere soldering without needing any electricity and butane irons will heat up damn fast too!

      What do you recommend for power supply?

    • @softsmoken
      @softsmoken 5 лет назад

      @@titouanbizieux1506 there's probably a good range that would work but i know for a fact this would work reliably and is sold as a "ts100 charger"
      Input Voltage:AC 100-240V Max. Input Current:1.5A Output Voltage:DC 19V Output Current:2.1A Output Power:40W... AND I dunno why it doesn't say it but 50-60hz. BTW AEOYU solder station is only 30$ works GREAT. One of the best I've used. Your better off with a butane for field solder iron. Also butane solder irons can be used as heat gun and other things.

    Hay Stew nice seeing you doing a build again. But 63/37 works on less heat and resin to give a cleaner joints and less cold solder joints. Last cleaning the tip transfers heat better.

    • @softsmoken
      @softsmoken 5 лет назад

      Rosin resin, close enough... You forgot the 1 degree of plastic for 63 37 vs the 20ish plus of 60 40 and 50 50... Really helps for a quick in and out, less holding things in place required 😉

    I like most at this soldering iron that is possible to set different temperatures and also shows the temperature. It cost 35,06€ for ordering from Slovenia.
    Great video that you put all possible ways of soldering, that are now just in one video. (Y) Must bookmark for everyone. Also great that you done this now, cos soon I will make my first build.
    I see that you solder at high temperature, I will try this now, cos I had sometimes in past troubles with making good joints. While on crocodile clamps I put a heat shrink that not damage wires, boards... Clamps which I have are quite strong, crocodile teeth are visible everywhere if I not insert on heat shrink. This could be a good tip how using crocodiles.
    Great video, bookmarked, good luck to all. (Y)

    Yay one more soldering tutorial for youtube, because there aren't enough of these already.
    Also lead free solder is actually good since it makes stronger joints that wont get ripped out with every crash or simple snags. you know because lead is pretty soft and tin+silver isn't.

    • @alexandert5960
      @alexandert5960 5 лет назад

      Remote Controlled Panda lead free solder may be slightly stronger but makes worse joints meaning they will come off easier rather than some nice lead solder that makes nice joints. also low quality solder will all feel the same lead or not

    I've never had a field soldering iron. It would be nice to have one though.

    Yes, I am so old I can remember when dirt was invented; it was a cool toy.
    But when sticks and rocks came out... Oh boy did we have fun.

    Hey, appreciate the video. Question. I have viewed many videos, and a lot are always mentioning. Touch and go is when soldering. Isn't the idea to get the surface just hot enough where the soldering transfers and adheres to the surface? I had a major headache with the battery terminals. I guess I was scared that I might burn something. The final time, I laid the soldering iron on the surface until the soldering transferred and adhered. All good.

    Some additional tips: Use appropriate diameter chisel tips, and don't really bother with conical tips unless you're doing super tiny joints on a micro or something. Also, a good wire stripper is inexpensive and way, way better than stripping wires using your fingernail or a wire cutter. Get solder in multiple diameters; get a sub-millimeter diameter for smaller joints and a millimeter or higher diameter for larger joints. Some other great tools to buy are a solder sucker and some solder wick (for desoldering and cleaning up bad joints, which you are likely going to make), and a brass wool tip cleaner. Take good care of your equipment, and it will take good care of you. Lastly, Diatone, Pyrodrone, and others make soldering practice boards that you can get for dirt cheap (Diatone's is a couple bucks USD, and Pyrodrone is $0.99 USD), so that you don't risk your actual components. Not knowing how to solder held me back in my various hobbies for a long time. But I finally learned how, and it was way easier than I thought it would be. So get to it, everybody!

    My 2 cents regarding XT60 soldering:
    Original XT60 by Amass are in my experience easier to solder to. With cheap XT60 I had the plastic get soft and then the pins moved making the connector ready for the trash. That never happened with more expensive Amass XT60 connectors.

    I didn't need the tutorial, I have done lots of soldering but it was good to watch anyway.... especially the Grumpy Egg! That soldering iron looks pretty cool, what sort of power consumption does it have? Obviously it will vary with the temperature setting, but on average what would say with say 1500mAH battery? I currently use a butane soldering iron, but the TS100 might be a good alternative. One other tip I would like to add is always clean the soldering iron tip when you're finished (while it's hot of course) and this will stop the flux eating into the soldering iron tip as much, making them last longer.
    Oh yeah, I'm in Australia too so it's the same as for you. $55.96 from "Bangers" (Banggood)

    That was a very excellent and simplistic way to teach that mate! Aces, prrof that anyone one can do it.
    Thats a simple compact moble iron thats easly packable. Never need to leave the field to make repairs. To thumbs up.
    So the price would be 545.16 Swazi lilangeni in the country of Eswatini. Its located in soth Eastern Africa.
    I love the videos keep them coming.
