    Looks like you crank has a bushing for a manual. Might explain the cut floor.

    Well that looked easy. I’d think wiring that switch in I would want it to require as little messing with while driving. Can’t believe he didn’t want new metal lines on that I think they’d be the only way to go for durability. That’s a really cool looking car tho bright you’d never lose it in the crowd. Can’t wait to see the next video

    You kept messing me up saying to replace the output shaft I think you meant the Front Drive Shaft Slip Yoke lol .a good idea is the upgraded long rear slip yoke and billet steady bearing as i've seen the drive shafts pull apart from using hydro or air rides

      you are correct…my brain gets a word stuck in there sometimes. you are correct. similar issues crop up with lifted trucks and stuff. driveshafts get real unhappy with weird angles. every time i do u joints or new yokes i always have my driveshaft place rebalance them.

    I have a 63 Nova, with the stock 194 and 3 speed on the column. I want you put in either a 2004R, or a 4L60E.
    I’ve heard you can’t get parts for the 200, but not sure the 4L60E will fit. What to do? Thanks for the great video! Dan

    • @BrokenWrenches
      @BrokenWrenches  Год назад

      both are excellent transmissions, you are correct, the 200 is much more difficult to get parts for. swap would be very similar to this video as far as work required. i suspect slight floor pan work would be required. quite simple usually though.

    No mention of attaching the torque converter to flex plate?

    How can I swap a power glide to a 700r4 and keep the shift column?

    • @BrokenWrenches
      @BrokenWrenches  11 месяцев назад +1

      thats complicated sometimes, usually why most guys just put a floor shift on it.
      first thing i would do is check and see if anyone makes a kit just for your application with column shift.
      if nobody makes a kit then you will have two choices.
      the first is to modify nothing on the column and build a linkage rod down to the trans and build a longer shift lever on the trans, however the shift gate detents wont match up well and the gear changes could be a little clunky. also you could risk accidentally popping it into the wrong gear if you bump the shifter or hit big holes in the road….not good.
      the correct and most complicated way is to take the column apart and modify the shift detent/notches so that you have a good solid park position and a lockout to keep the shifter from being bumped from neutral to reverse accidentally. then you would have to either modify the end of the column lever or the transmission lever to make them a little longer to get enough swing to add the extra gear positions on the newer OD transmission. its slow and painstaking work but its doable.

    what would something like this cost me for you where to change my existing 4 speed manual to 700r4 ?

    • @BrokenWrenches
      @BrokenWrenches  Год назад

      Thats a complicated question….depends on what needs to be done on car floor/shift linkage/etc. also what car you have and engine combo. Rough guess would put you at about $2500 in parts. Labor would fall somewhere between roughly $1500-2000.
      Its cheaper doing it yourself. Thanks for watching my video.

    Did you use the lockup

    • @BrokenWrenches
      @BrokenWrenches  Год назад +1

      Yes. Not the way i would have preferred tho. It’s wired to a switch under the dash. The guy that built the transmission didn’t want to drill/tap the hole in the transmission side cover that’s required to mount the aftermarket switch in the trans because he already had the unit built,sealed up and in the customers truck bed.

      @@BrokenWrenches sane here I have a 92 700 so it’s not drilled and tapped was thinking bout using a vacuum switch along with the brake switch.

      I think it was about 275, including the new front yoke and U joints.

      I believe it had the 3.36 gear in it. I can’t remember for certain.
