Abandoned Volvo 740 Turbo Wagon has a MAJOR issue...

  • So as it turns out, this car needs a bit more than expected. I gave the buyer the option to back out and he did. I would have done the same to be honest.
Come with me as we discover the mess that was missed in the field!
    Inquiries can go to info@deanofmachines.com
    ruclips.net/user/de...
I am considering selling the parts from this car. but would prefer to sell it whole to someone who needs all the parts for a turbo swap.
    Thanks!

  • @Danthecapriman

    That sucks!
Mine was exactly the same when I got it. Off the road and sitting for years, the sunroof started leaking and filled the rear footwell with water which rusted the floor out. Trouble is on these cars they have thick carpet with thick sponge underlay so by the time you can see the water the underlay’s absolutely soaked and full of water. The sponge underlay just holds the wet against the floor and rots it away.
I made a new floor section for mine and welded it in. Had to rebuild the bottom edges of the seat mount too. It’s more time consuming than difficult.
I like my car though so it was worth doing in my eyes!
    Keep up the good work!👍

Looks like how my 245Ti was. That makes me think that the rack has been leaking for some time. Since the frame rails are decent, and the rest of the floor's good, I bet it's been rusting from the inside out. Remember Ken's (RIP) term for roof racks... "Rust From Above".

The prep work would take longer than that, finding a donor, cutting the floor, fitting new. It might be 3 hours of welding if you only count the welding.

I feel like you can still use the whole Buffalo. The powertrain looks like a candidate for rehoming into something older.
