I actually met him at a book signing (I have his signature) only a couple months after I saw him live. He was SUPER nice, very laid back and took the time to have a short conversation with everyone who came in, talking about the story behind the book, etc.
George has always been 100000% about Women's rights. He agrees with the parts of women's suffrage that we all should agree with.

You can't go into Carlin's comedy expecting to never be offended. He's pissed off pretty much everybody in one way or another.
You know I have seen all of his HBO Comedy Specials, many of his talk show interviews, as well as standup on late night such as Carson, read the 3 books he has authored, and you know how many times I paused and thought he went TOO far? Just once. I guess I'm the right kind of fan because my rule of defense is when you enter that venue you need to check your feelings at the door. Not all of them--just the ones that might irritate you. It's comedy and comedians have a free pass with me as long as it is not personally directed at someone. Groups of people or generalized comments are ok with me. I do however understand that it is isn't for everyone and as GC said many years ago if "you don't like what you are viewing/hearing on the radio/tv they have 2 knobs on it. One will turn it on or off and the other changes the station." 😄
The one comment he made wasn't about me. He could hit me all day long and I will laugh or change my ways if it's a good one. People need to thicken their skin and focus on being better people.
@@17Helton He hasn't said anything that's really pissed me off much personally, but there were a couple of times where he really upset the person who was watching it with me. One of my sisters is overweight, and the "Dumb Americans" bit made her walk out of the room crying. It was the first time I had seen it too, so I didn't know it was coming. If I did, then I would have turned it off while she was visiting.
@@forkymental5154 I have always screened his work and tried to think it all through including anyone within earshot of me speaking GC or playing GC. I once mentioned a joke about a sect of society to a new colleague of mine and he took off like I just laid a turd on the tile next to him. I found out later he belonged to that sect and even though we became good friends I feel guilt to this day for not checking first. But back to your original comment eventually he will have said something that would offend just about every single person alive. Even though I'm cool with this about 95% of people are not.
@Whoever I actually agree with that. This era of cancel culture nonsense has really hurt comedy. You should check out Andrew Doyle's interview with Joe Rogan if you haven't seen it. He's the guy behind the Titania McGrath profile on Twitter, and he goes after the woke crowd better than almost anybody.

The end of this skit is actually startlingly eerie. Carlin is literally talking about using correct pronouns and avoiding sexism by eliminating the word men. The current feminist and woke agenda. Truly a genius.

I grew up listening to and watching George. I know I'm not alone when I say he's more of a professor than he is a comedian.
I saw Carlin 24 times in the 70`s and 80`s and 90`s.....and met him once.....He was the Best!
I never get offended watching any comedian. If you do you already had your mind in a bad place or had a bad day. Laughter is great for the heart and soul.
On stage, without censorship, George Carlin ALWAYS gave it to you straight! That's called bein' real! :-D He was hard core- but he was righteous! :-)

And that's ok not every joke is supposed to jive with you. A large part of his philosophy was to think for yourself, have your own ideas instead of just blithely accept everything some one tells you, even if you do like that person. The rape portion is just pushing the ideals of controlling how someone acts, kind of the same vane of his 7 words you can't say on tv. There are some differences between the two concepts a matter of course. But that will always be intended for you to think critically.
