I live in France and I can say that this 'French Style' is how foreigners decorate their interiors whereas actual French people generally do not. Foreigners who buy chateaux always use this style.

      How DO you decorate?

Well you can find great good quality 'French' furniture at auction that isn't as 'French' as most of the pieces that people buy. For example a good vintage mid century sofa paired with a pair of Louis XV armchairs and maybe a 'Janssen' style coffee table. Don't be afraid to mix up pieces and if they are all well designed and well made then they will all go together. In the past people didn't get rid of the style from one century and replace it, it evolved from one to the other with crossover styles. The room will dictate what it needs if you 'listen' and seating areas are important to break up bigger rooms. I also love modern art in antique environements and often a plainer rug if you cannot find a good old one. Usually decorators would start with the rug and flooring before deciding on the colours of the walls etc. I have an 18 th century Chippendale sofa but a 19th century sofa table and an antique Marocain coffee table and some 1940's oak book cases . My desk is linenfold arts and craft oak next to a 1980's green laquer bookkcase next to a yellow Lous XVI chest of drawers under a huge Shanghai red Henri II carved mirror. On this I have a large collection of Chinese Turquoise 'Fo dogs' to make it pop. Nothing I have cost much money, it's mostly junk shop or charity shop finds, just curated. I dislike rooms when on entering you half close your eyes and all the colours blend into each other, for me it's boring and bland. That's MY opinion, not lecturing to anyone with a different style. @@amymcginty6634

Most of these are computer generated images, animated. Doilies are not modern, no one uses them anymore.

    Nice decorations. Thanks for sharing.
Nevertheless, please change the music. From scratch, it feels like we are going to watch a horror movie and Jason is going to appear in the scene 🙁

Loving those vibrant velvets! Yellow sofas, pink headboards, wow! Perfect in those massive colorful rooms. My whole concept of French design has changed. Way fancier than I ever dreamt. Beautiful nonetheless.

Не знаю, действильно ли это французский дизайн, но на мой взгляд, несколько перегружен аксессуарами.

I like a toned down version of this style. I love the off white furniture & light pastel colors, along with the fireplaces. The brighter colors don’t appeal to me, nor does the gold furniture.
