Looked like a fun trip and you all coped so well with the mileage. The Nugget certainly worked a treat. Hope you had a great Christmas. Wishing you safe travels in 2023 🎉😀
Hello Ken and Carol! Many thanks for the comments. We hope you had a great Christmas too! The Nugget performed like a dream on this trip…! It’s a fantastic long distance companion! Looking forward to seeing your adventures in 2023, best wishes to you both from Italy.
Thank you very much for the mention. We are actually selling the caravan not sure what to do about this Summer to be fair. If we are going to be anywhere near you I will be touch. Great to see more videos up on here. I really enjoy watching your videos as they are very real.
No probs, it was great to see you on the live stream at Christmas. Yes, for sure…if you guys are near the Italian Alps/the lakes, drop us a message! Thanks for mentioning the ‘real’ thing…that’s exactly what we like to achieve (i.e. as we are, as it happens). I saw your video on the caravan sale and also the reasons for selling the motorhome, and I get it. Its always a balancing act between family commitments, van type/size compromises and money. Maybe a VW Crafter size van would be good middle ground and sell the tow car. Instead, have a smaller bomb-about car for running the girls to school/dancing. Good luck and best wishes from Italy.
Lovely video to watch. Amazing how you all live in the space you , just speaks of great organisation and a large allowance of "get-along-ability.". The nugget is most certainly a nice piece of kit. May your happy and safe journeys continue in 2023.
Many thanks Frederick. We have to be very organised, and we do all get along well - most of the time 😂. We are very impressed with the Nugget! Best wishes from Italy.
Loved watching this! Just shows the benefit of the van especially when you were waiting for the Tunnel! Great examples of the british weather too- exactly why we need this hard top version of the Nugget here in the UK!
Sorry guys, don’t know why I didn’t see your awesome comment before! I totally agree that the hard top (although has its’ compromises) is great for adverse weather!
Another great video again. The Nuggert is so good I would love one but there not available in the USA as well as the VW California. The video made me want to visit the UK again. The kids are so easy to travel with what a great experience for them,
Thanks Lorraine. The kids love it and thankfully rarely complain about long distances in the camper! The Nugget is awesome, we love it. And, it’s a shame it’s not available in the American market…maybe there are some close alternatives though? Thanks for watching 😃👍🏻
In the U.K we pop to a motorway service station to fill up with Ad Blue from the pump, easier & cheaper to do. Usually put in 10 litres which covers us for 4/5 thousand miles. We generally get the Ad Blue refill warning starting around 1500 mile range. Love the look of the Nugget but the high top isn’t available in the U.K. Happy safe onward travels to your lovely family.
Hi Gillian, I didn’t know that you could fill up from the pump, that’s good to know and I’ll look out for it from now on 👍🏻. I always thought it strange that the high top is not available in the UK. Safe travels to you too and thanks for commenting 😃👍🏻
Great video, as always. Only ever used the adblue pumps, I put in the maximum it says on the dash. Much cheaper from a pump as well. The only issue we’ve ever had is paying by credit card at automatic pumps. My credit card provider doesn’t like two transactions close together. If we need both then I leave ten to fifteen minutes between using both pumps and it’s fine.
Great trip we’ve just done a 5100 klms Christmas journey from Sydney to Perth, Western Australia on our way home at the present time just on 600 klms from Perth to Esperance, Western Australia towing a caravan. ❤
Wow, it’s great thining that you have just watched our video in Western Australia whilst travelling! I guess it’s hot where you are at the moment. What are you using to tow this epic distance, a LandCruiser??? Safe travels and well done!
28:30 This is one of the most dangerous places to overnight, at a french motorway 😲 From my experience it is most cheap to buy ad blue from the gas stations, by gas pump nozzle. Nice video, btw. Happy Camping. Cheers, Tim.
Hi Tim. I’ve heard the horror stories too. However, over the last 12 years since living in mainland Europe I have used them many many times with no problems at all (fingers crossed 🤞🏻). They serve the purpose. I am on the look out for adblue at gas stations as would be much easier, thanks. Enjoy your Nugget and thanks for watching 😃👍🏻

Looks like a fun roadtrip. How do your girls cope on the long drives? We're driving the other way this summer (England to Italy) any tips on maintaining sanity with the kids on the long drives?
The girls settle in very well, and they are used to it. However, having a tablet mounted on the back of the drivers seat playing Netflix downloads certainly helps! Cookies and water helps too. Have fun on your trip, and thanks for watching 👍🏻
I have no experience with modern diesels but wouldn't you be able top fill up on adblue a gasstation at a seperate pump? if so i guess that would save you from buying all those 10l cans
Hi, and that sounds very sensible. However, I have never seen this available anywhere. I wonder if anyone else has? Thanks for watching and commenting 😃
@@CaliCamperFamily You find them, very rarely, but there are some. In my little village in Germany the Shell fuel station has just installed one and it‘s also cheaper per litre than buying a can. But if you did fill up at home , you seems to have more than 20l tank, you wouldn‘t have had to worry about it at all for the entire trip, possibly two trips of that kind.
Very true, I should fill up before leaving! 10litres is giving us about 1500 to 2000km. Nice to hear that there are some places providing AdBlue at the pump - very useful. I’ll keep a look out in Italy for it. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
They are very good. The Ford Transit Custom is the perfect base vehicle too. Mine is the LWB, to go bigger you have to move up to the next sized Transit. Thanks for watching 😀

Good to see you on the road again - great trip x
Thanks Elaine! 😃
What an epic journey. The Nugget came into its own. Take care Gill
Hi Gill! It was epic and the Nugget is a dream! Thanks for watching 😃
Wow. That was a fantastic trip. The Nugget is amazing.
Thanks for watching, Sylvia. We are very happy with it!
Fabulous, really enjoyable to watch, thank you!
Thanks Vanessa 😃👍🏻

@@CaliCamperFamily The only places I've seen Adblue at the pump is at transport depots for their commercial fleet of HGVs.

Well done good video you did great
Thank you 😊
I’d seriously look at buying one of these if they were available in uk. Even better if they made it LWB and have a L shaped lounge up front

Will they be selling in uk do you know?
Where do you put the child's car seat overnight?
Hi Louise, we turn it upside down and slot it in between the dash board and the front passenger seat. No probs!
I mean just look at that Cornish scenery - why would you want to live anywhere else?!
Exactly!
What is your mpg
Approximately 31 mpg.
