S2F Crew represent. In regards to your comment that these videos may get too repetitive/boring - I can only speak for myself in saying that even though, yes, it is essentially a routine played put over and over, I still get gassed when a new POV video is posted. I find the videos incredibly relaxing. That isn't to say I don't also enjoy when you do and try other things, please do, it's just to say there's something great about these Drum Tech POV videos that will always be enjoyable.
As you talk to Disturbed drum tech, I wonder how his documentary serious would be mimicking your channel. It'd be the same but different considering the band! So fascinating!!!!!!!!
Sorry but I believe if you’re going to pitch match the lugs then you have to take the dampening off while doing it. There’s no way you can match them when the snareweight is down. It changes the way the drumhead works. Plus the butt end of a stick will always make a different sound to the tip end. I’m not saying you’re wrong in what you’re doing or you don’t know your stuff. Just an opinion of mine. All the best
Man, everytime the riser gets lifted by a forklift, i have to skip. I was teching for my granfathers band a Sturgis and the forklift driver dumped the kit. Beautiful 1980 white oyster shell Ludwigs he bought new and they were just deatoyed. Love the content, keep it up.
You can tell the quality of arena security staffing based on stuff like the garage door problem. They clearly take artist safety very seriously and go out of their way to make sure there is no entrance to the stage from backstage. Little things like that make everyone safer.
As a musician and a sound engineer myself, it’s the little routines that make these videos enjoyable. I’m OCD at shows, and it’s refreshing to see when things run smooth.
Man I’m a DJ and my backline these days is like 95% video wall and 5% instruments but I love these videos. I’ve always liked the behind the scenes especially of the higher levels of the entertainment industry. One thing I’m wondering tho - what is your guys bus hauling on that flat bed trailer? We see it backing up in the first few seconds of this video. You guys hauling a vehicle with you or something? Trussing? Staging? Just wondering what can survive a tour outside on a flatbed. Anyway, good work, great videos. Hope you make lots more!
s2f crew, love the videos man! Very cool to get a behind the scenes view, an see what a drum tech does! And idc if any of it is repetitious, its till cool!
I enjoy your videos. You mentioned the concern about the repetitiveness of the content but I like it. It is comforting. Keep up the good work. I always look forward to each video.
Your videos are still entertaining regardless of you doing the same tasks every video. As a drummer in a minor band and playing theaters not arenas, this content is still fascinating. Keep it up! Start to finish crew!
I am so pleased that you used the Lexington, KY for this recording. I live an hour from there and it is a nice town. A start to finish viewer for me again with this video.
JT is THE coolest!! Start to finish crew right here brother! 👊👊 Watching your vids is pretty asmr shite. Its completely relaxing! Just like watching a campfire! Take awesome care my guy!
don't even worry! i enjoy watching every video even though every vid seems somewhat the same haha! I find your techniques with how you manage the kit and i have learned a lot even though i have been playing drums for years!!! keep up the great work sir Matt
Matt love the videos keep on doing them would love to move to teching from my aviation job been playing 35 years, I just love the tech side and sound engineering, great info from you on the whole gig is really interesting.
The rest of the crew probably goes and finds a breakfast spot to hang out at. Even if it might seem repetitive it's good content to throw up and have in the background while doing other things. Also interesting to see the different types of catering offerings provided at venues. Start to finish crew lets go
Start to finish crew, because we never know what we can learn either in the audio or the CC. Thanks for all the videos. As a tribute band drummer who sets my drums myself those have been very helpful.
Good Lord Matt where you're from 60° is probably cold lol😅 I love these videos it's so cool and I don't play any instruments at all but I always love to know the technical side of things like this and listen to people talk about triggers and floor pedals in things like that.
I'm used to doing tech for studios, so seeing the other side with tech for Tour is interesting. I have the luxury of consistent venue and comfort of home, Matt gets to see new venues and experiment/adjust on the fly. Different experiences, but ultimately the same end goal.
Having watched a few of these, the actual drum teching - tuning and line check etc - is a fraction of the job. There's a whole lotta packing and unpacking that I thought would be done by roadies, leaving Matt to do his technical stuff. It's a sobering insight into life on tour for a tech - a mixture of boredom, hard graft, repetition and moments of excitement and fun.
Not repetitive at all. I love this. As someone who had to give up on their dreams of music, these vids allow me to live vicariously thru yall. The tech stuff is fun and interesting, but it's the storytelling and the GO FOR SHOW that keeps me coming back.
You're a man with good taste in music. Love "Head Over Heels" by TFF. Songs from The Big Chair was the first album I ever bought with my pocket money when I was 6 years old. Great album. Thank you for the videos as you really make them interesting. Please keep them coming. Cheers.
I think every drummer/drum tech have their own superstitions about what to do before and after a show and it's always fun seeing them do it. I had the same thing when I was a drum tech. One time we didn't do it and things went wrong so we never forgot again. It's a right of passage! Start to finish crew unite!
S2FC here!! ❤❤ all the way from Argentina 🇦🇷🇦🇷 really love your vids man! Dont think the content might be too similar, its perfect the way it is. Keep rocking!!!
Good to know u n Luke run the peddle settings stock. I thought I was crazy for likin the outa box settings n kept contemplating whether or not to mess with em. Your vids r great man everytime I watch em I learn new tricks that have helped me with my own groups I’m in. Thanks for sharing
Start 2 Finish crew! Another good one, i'd say don't worry about being repetitive, there's always something new and different and unique in each video.
Idea for new content: consider experimenting with a Tune Bot to potentially get more scientific/consistent results with the tuning. Maybe start by baselining (measure frequency of) what you consider good sounds for batter/reso heads and go from there.
You're a great drummer and drum tech. Thanks for an inside look at that career. I myself am a drummer in a texas country band and work full time at a brewery, but drumming is my passion
for a very long time, I've neglect to properly tune my toms and snare because I felt that they never sounded good with whatever I was doing, but after watching all of your POV I try to tune my drums the same way you do and in not a lot of time, everything was sounding amazing. The drummers of the other bands playing that night came to tell me that my kit sounded awesome and it felt good. Thank you for your videos
If I wasn't so tunnel minded about being the guy on stage, I should have done the tech gig just to stay in the game. I love your job, and you are great at it!! I'd live to do what you're doing brotha!
I was the same way, man then I realized I just loved being on tour. Didn't matter what I was doing. I wasnt happy in the band I was in, and made the switch. Very glad I did. My time in the trenches (vans and sharing hotels with 6 dudes) makes me so grateful for what I get to do now.
Start to Finish crew….love this videos always man. As a drummer, and teching before as well….any drummer should/would be stoked to have you as their dude. 🙌🏻

Hey Matt, funny that you mentioned the chain and wallet. I worked wage wars last night and the drum tech had it going on...LOL
I recorded drums today and used some tuning tips that I learned from watching your videos. love the stuff, man.
