Turning it to a Transformer was the way to go, it's even better now :) Makers, roll out!
😂😂😂
I love how Evan acted all offended about the table even though we all know he would be the one most excited about a transformer 🤣
Happy to see you two in the vedio 🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍❤❤❤
I was waiting for the rest of the conversation :(
I love watching you encounter issues and pivot during the build. It makes me realize that no problem is insurmountable. Love this series, too! The basement is really coming together.
Loving this downstairs remodel saga. Keep up the great work Bob!
The ping pong table video was where I discovered e&k. I have been subscribed to them ever since.
Pretty sure it was the opposite for me--I always loved E&K but didn't start watching ILTMS until their collab :)
I bought a dining room table when I got my own house 2 years ago with the plans to turn it into a hidden gaming table. This video is nudging me to get’er done!
Cool idea. I would have mounted the table top to the moving section, that way the overhang would stay (somewhat) consistent, and it would stiffen it to prevent the racking
Each time he was like "I had an idea" or "I realized" I thought he'd recognized this. It also solves the problem accessing the hidden storage. Side holes when closed, flip top when open
First 1/2 to 2/3 of the video I’m sitting here saying to myself “Wait, what? Why do it *that* way?” But then something clicked and it made sense. And the finished product looks pretty cool!
Where's the rest of your team? It looks like you don't even have a cameraman on these last few projects.
I've wondered that myself. The team and office have all vanished
he talks about it on his podcast - fitZall episode 44
@@erikdwyer729 so what happened?
@@erikdwyer729 i thought Ftizall podcast was Jimmy Diresta and others
@@michaelpotase you are right. His podcast is called making it.
Why did you not use the plywood from the old table?
Bob, I've been following you since the king size headboard. Seeing the boy in this video was a real gut check as to how long that's actually been. We are getting old pal!
Superb. Great problem solving and so many cool ideas. Thank you.
Hey. Looks really great. Love a versatile bit of furniture. Curious, did you consider putting a matching hole in the end panel so you can access the secret storage when it slides in?
Classic Clagett! Great build Bob, what a fun solution!
Nice! Hey, what ever happened to the rest of your team? Also the place you were renting out? Unless I missed something, it appears you have been doing everything at home and don’t see the rest of the staff. I apologize if sounding nosy but liked the other three as well. 🤷🏻♂️
Everybody moved on to new opportunities. It’s just Forby and I now (and some contractors)
Came out absolutely awesome! Well done sir
Love to see how much random stuff you have made with your 3d printers
Very cool build, as you went along I was thinking, ah, I would do it this way, and then you did it that way. Not sure if anyone already mentioned it but where you are using the edge banding for the sliding surface, if that ever becomes a problem you can get thin UHMW tape that is designed for that purpose, I use it in router jigs.
The amount of engineering that went into this is amazing. I watched this from start to finish
Cool video, I really enjoy watching you through the process
Nice work on that sliding table build Bob! 👍👍
YAY SATURDAY UPLOAD!
That was the most creative and practical idea I've ever seen with a ping pong table. Awesome!
See, it’s videos exactly like this that inspired me to design my own skateboard for my brand. I can’t wait to see what you come up with next!
Nicely designed and executed!
Super cool, thanks for the video!!
This is so cool! Love the idea of something big being able to collapse and save a ton of space! So many possibilities!
The problem with transforming tables is not technical, but behavioral. Once there's stuff on the table, you won't want to transform it anymore.
Love it great work. I love space maximization projects
EXCELLENT engineering on this build, Bob.......
There are also neutral saw blades that don't rip the plywood, I use them all the time
great problem solving in this one!
Awesome sauce! Happy Easter!
Multi use tables are awesome, specially giant ping pong ones. well done
What happened to the leather net? 😢 Love the rest of the project. Great idea and great execution! ❤
amazing..pocket holes and nary a clamp in sight! Thanks Again for the video.
This reminds me of Fischer shop’s fold and stow away ping pong table. It’s nice to have a couple options 👍🏼 for specific needs
13:05 dude thats amazing, didn't expect that
This idea is genius thanks bob
That is a fantastic build!
Just curious, what kind of ceiling clearance is needed to open/close it? I’m guessing around 7ft based on regulation table dimensions (2.5ft high + half of the 9ft length)
That's just brilliant, Bob! Fantastic work and design!!! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
BTW, you can always add casters later!
Great one!
That´s awesome, man.
Actually this could be used as a workshop table for smallish shops with other measurements , cool idea👍🏻
Very cool solution. Does the table top move in 'small' mode too? Maybe adding a small latch inside the storage area to keep it locked in place until you want to deploy it?
Question... In regards to the plywood tearout... Why didn't you cut within the hole and use a router to go up to the line? Perhaps using a guide for the router... a straight edge for the straight bits and a circle guide for the corners.
That Gluey sticker is genius. 😂
That's awesome. I love the leg idea. Can you share how you make the Augmented Reality 3d models.
great idea
lol at the glue with the Gluey sticker
That's such a clever idea, Bob! Makes me want to build an extra room to our house just so I can make this table and keep it in there 😂
Next, you can always see if you can connect an Arduino to the sliding mechanism to play the transformers effect each time the table transforms.
I enjoy seeing how your mind works.
This was super cool! Great video, as always. Side note, I just started listening to the Making It podcast, and yesterday I heard you mention this "new" RUclipsr who showed a lot of promise... and it was Laura Kampf! 😂
Great repurpose something to make it multifunctional! Now for automation so it opens itself up on verbal command!
Thanks!
0:30 Dom agreed,For Family.😂😂😂
Another way on it could have been to make the center area fixed and then have flip out table tops on both ends and leg sections that pull out on both ends. Would cut down on the height issue that you have at the end there, especially for lower ceiling basements/rooms. But I really like the idea and think that I might do this for a gaming table design instead of the ping pong table, and make it a little taller with just under a bar height table height.
3D printing for the win!
I would make the pull out legs a little shorter and add locking wheels. Should make it easier to pull out. Great project! I really love it!
I think you should have gone with draw sliders or linear guide rails and bearings for the extending movement. Any dust etc is going to make that thing bind up in future. Didn’t the original have cool LED scoring features? I hope you’re going to find a way to incorporate those into the new table. Otherwise, great work!
Something I noticed at 17:32, the table top isnt locked down so either person can move it when accidentally bumping into it. Do you have plans to add a lock so the top doesnt move when its in the ping pong mode?
II suppose you could but when we move it, we just move the frame instead. The top moves easily, so if you had to adjust it after movign the table, it's no big deal.
Yup, Efficient use of space - approved 👍
No but seriously, that old drum kit looks good enough for me a, 17yr old drummer to refurbish and play, also, I desparately need a drum kit XDD
AWESOME Job 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Actually a really cool hidden in plain sight secret stash
So lately I've noticed that Josh and the other members of the team don't show up in the videos, or that Bob talks to them off camera either. Social media tells me nothing. Does anyone know what happened?
See Episode 427 of the "Making It" podcast; scrub to about 38:00 for some answers to your question.
@@namewithoutdigitsthat's interesting. I was wondering if the projects had gotten smaller/simpler, and it sounds like he scaled down
How is the knee clearance when reaching towards net?
Now to find some mirrors to scan that QR code
i saw something vintage star wars in the old table. what was it?
When are you going to work on the vw
I like the look of the table, not too showy.
You could start letting them help you in the construction process right? I think they would love it too
Curious how long it will take for your cats to hide out in that hidden cubby.
Maybe I missed that part of the video, but why is there not a matching hole on the other end of the table to match the inner hole?
love the video but where is josh and rest of the crew really missing them
Everybody moved on to new opportunities. It’s just Forby and I now (and some contractors)
Let's see more of the car rebuild.
It took me many years to realize, you are wrong handed.
Nice
now be honest did you check to make sure it would flip and clear the ceiling before or after you built it
Well, the original version had to be able to clear the ceiling, so I'd already tested it :)
You said you made it into a transformer you should design one side Autobot and the other decepticon
Ohhhhhh
You could've milled that slot on the Bridgeport instead of 3d printed it.
What happend to Josh ? Where is he ?😮
Anybody else miss the hole on the sliding part or did I miss why he decided to not cut that part out.
@2:46 continuity 😎
Be sure to grease up anything that moves
That was the respectful way to start the video... Cool Beans!😁
cmonn upload today bobbb
Ngl I prefer the hidden hinge method otherwise 10
You have a cut out on one side that's completely inaccessible....why not cut out the part that slides out so you can get into when collapsed
Go for it
@@Iliketomakestuff would be cool if half or a section of the storage slid with it. Love your stuff. Can't believe you replied lol. Thanks for all you do.

You of course, just HAD to do it the Insane Way...
[Sigh]
Are you by any chance using that Therapist from this Video's Sponsor to treat your Pathological Masochism?
😄😁😆😅😂🤣
I mean... Its a hassle
Can't u just do all of this with hydraulics and servos?
Who else gets youth pastor vibes from Bob?
What happened to the rest of the team?
It's just Forby and I now, everyone has moved on to new jobs and is doing well 👍🏼 We all talk constantly and get to hang out on a fairly regular basis.
Can I have that drumset? XD
Yeah, but... who still uses Skype??? 🥴
*Promo SM* 😆
Not everyone can afford therapy. Welcome to America.
Hey there - I am really sorry to be that person, but I'm concerned; the mole in your eyebrow appears to be growing in size. Have you had it looked at by a dermatologist? Genuinely mean no offense, I'm just concerned about you.
I’m good. Thank you
