this side steps the actual problem. the drone is too heavy. When the drone wants to lower height it has to give up so much power because the motors have to be close to 100% just to keep it in the air so it loses agility.

      While you are troubleshooting here.
Your batterypack is undersized. The 35C rating isnt enough at your temperatures. Even without the extra weight the battery wouldnt perform like it should. The low temperature and high current draw from your motor leads to an early batteryfailure like it is shown in your video. Call the drone back earlier ~ when a Cell hits aprox. 3.5V.
Tbh i doubt your 15 min flight time.

Heres some of my personal opinions
1, maybe have the thermal camera mounted stationary
2, have the property map out in grids, since theres already multiple camera already mounted on different angle / or specifically set grid on specific area like front of the door and front of the containers
3, pin the grid using the foot of the trespassers
4, upgrade the splash pattern to maybe little over a grid to maximize coverage or the trespassers standing on multiple grids at the same time
5, set the firing procedure when the target get stationary for 3~5 seconds in a single grid to avoid innocent ppl
6, drones only take off when target enter grid for 2 seconds to maximize element of surprise
7, use non color uv paint with some itching powder , trespassers could just wipe em instead of washing them off and would look for a doctor
8, louda$$ alarm(optional) mount at specific location, only goes off when the paint fire triggered to prevent burglars escape before the paint spray on them and could stun them for a short moment to enjoy the full shower of paint

for any real use application, you need to work out a battery auto-swap capability... so they can keep going all the time. The docking would need to be more precise... or if it lands on the pad, then using those fancy multi-directional-spinner-wheels (used for freight box tracks, etc), the automation would move and spin the drone to the correct position to link up and swap over the battery pack with a new one. Then the old is charging, but it may need a handful of battery packs to be a valid solution (that can swap in multiple times over the night, so needs some rotation function of old and new units).? OR... Maybe a "simple" automated robot "arm" like on a factory line could be set up on the edge of the pad and detect the location of the pack on the drone (once landed), and reach over and remove it and place into an empty charge unit, then replace with in a new charged one?

I have sold and installed all kinds of security systems over the the last twenty years in business. I love the idea you guys have come up with. An idea for a id marker you might like to think about is uv paint. Kind of like the powder used in money transfers along with the paint now used. Once you have the power problem solved, I would love to see the unit in action. Maybe a larger charging pad, or a higher capacity battery.

a gun drone would've been a more equivalent lesson, and if they're in the right place it could be legal because of the Stand your ground law

@@holycrusader3119 while shooting someone for trespassing might be legal, I'm not sure putting an actual gun on a drone is. More importantly, it's a massive risk for themselves. Imagine someone goes back to the office late at night to get something they forgot and they don't (or can't) deactivate the armed drones. Or a kid kicked their ball into your grounds and they are coming to pick it up. Or something else goes wrong with the program and you shoot someone innocent. Also, personally, I would much rather have the thieves arrested than kill them.

    Nice work! Subbed.
    Some thoughts:
    * use paintball guns instead of the cartridge. It would probably need a better aiming algorithm and kickback may affect stability - Actually, mounting remote controlled paintball guns on the buildings and using the drones for targeting and noise might be a better path.
    * put an electro-magnet under the charging pad to enhance the chance of the drone landing at "home" in such a way that charging can happen. It could be triggered by proximity.

An electromagnet may be a good idea, though magnets might throw off the compass and other electronics in the drone. Also, paintball guns are... well as someone else put: questionable.

@@Ren-lm8ls Robbing businesses is.. questionable. They're not paintball guns, they're Remotely Operated Burglar Observation Classification Or Painting devices. Load the paintball hoppers with the permanent dye used in bank's dye packs, and mix in some pepper balls and balls filled with Smartwater tags. For legal reasons, it's probably best to keep a man-in-the-loop so they don't engage until the burglar's been observed breaking in. Then cover the site in warning signs, and call it good. We're too soft on criminals.
