- After being named last year as New Balance Made In USA's Creative Director, Teddy Santis (of Aime Leon Dore) dropped his first collection last week. Today I'm reviewing my favourite of the three pairs in the set, the 990 V3 in the "Marblehead / Incense" colourway. V1, V2 or V3, which was your favourite of this release?
V1, only because V3 has many great collabs.
Love them all. I went with v1 and v2. Have so many v3 already but they’re all fantastic. Can’t wait for the rest of the pack to release.
I have the bodega V3s and never owned a pair of the V2s so I copped those through atmos. TBH I think the 990v2 was the best.
V2 aesthetics > V3 all day. Comfort of the V3 > V2 tho. Both dope tho

Teddy Santis did very well for the first collection. Can't wait to see what else he got for us! Copped the v3 myself.
My favorite was the V2 pair. Glad I was able to get them!
The colorway is so pretty. A really versatile colorway. Not too dark but not too light either
Teddy brings back the 996 im all in..wore them when they first came out in high school.
Hit on two pairs of v2s got them today and went straight to feet. Quality is amazing.

Was able to grab the V2 and that’s the one I wanted going in. The hairy suede is PERFECT.
All 3 are great, I definitely agree the v3 is #1. Personally only had an opportunity to get v1&2 and went with the very clean, minimal v1. Look forward to grabbing a v2 and v3 of upcoming colorways (orange v2👀)
I went straight away for the v2. I was sitting for almost 25-30 and still got em easily. I’m happy with that choice. I gave the all grey v3’s. Not that far off
Finally got my hands on this 990v3, completed the collection from the 1st season. Can’t wait for season 2 to ramp up

V1 all the way- timeless classic and truly fits the vibes of the colors and materials

I grabbed the v2,v3s on the website took an hour of refreshing but it worked. I ended up doubling up on the v3s there my favorite shoe this year

Yeah the V3s are my favorite as well, but I was only able to get the V2s. They're also great, but I have so many shoes I don't know if I'll keep them. The quality is absolutely immaculate though

I was able to cop these V3 at local boutique, and they are amazing in person. I would say these are the best out of the pack, followed by V2 and then V1.

What brand/model are the joggers you’re wearing in the on-foot shots of the shoe towards the end of the video?
I personally like the v2 the most from the moment I saw those images, but all 3 look great! As for the popularity, I think it wasn’t so much that the v3’s are the most popular, but the stock was lower due to some production delay (NB Japan even has a later release date for v3’s); hence, sold out quickly. And it was harder to get and ppl wanted them more 😉 Anyway, great review as always 💯
Yeah I was in line for the v3s for 40 minutes just to be told they were sold out. So I checked the V2 and there was a full size run and got my size 13. I'm actually happy I go them

What do you think of these in comparison to the levis 990v3 in terms of quality? Trying to decide between this teddy pair or the levis one. Got any suggestions?
These look so amazing on foot! Definitely going for the v3 when they drop in the UK at the end of the month. If I miss out I'll be going for the white pair that's been teased instead. Teddy Santos really did his thing on this collection. I just wish they didn't shelf the 992, it's my favourite 990 model and I'd have loved to see TS's take on a pair.
Where are the sweatpants from in the on-foot shots?
I like to call this Grey & Khakis…..it really suits the theme. Sean are you gonna rock this everyday ? They should have Made in Canada version of it in the raptors colorways.

Personally like the v2 the best out of the 3 in this color way
I'm in between the V3's and V1's.
In order I liked v2, v3 then v1. Was able to cop the v2 from the NB site. v3 I was going to pick up if available but sold out by the time I got in - already have the grey Levi’s v3 and trying to keep my collection small (relatively speaking… haha), so I guess it all worked out. Btw, Your sneaker reviews for NB are my favorite!

I like the M990TD3, but the resale asking price is something I can't go for. I can't convince myself to shell out $300 or more for V3's. I think NB hiring Teddy Santis as CD might be a curse and blessing going forward.

Thinking of picking these up but I also just bought 4 NB pairs in the last 2 month. With teddy dropping 13 more pairs I don’t know if i should pull the trigger on this? Wdyt? Wait on the other colorways or go with this?

Just broke my pair out today! Really nice shoe! But i saw that my pair, does not have the diamond pattern on the tongue’s..my tongue’s are smooth.

which colorway of the v3 do u prefer between the Sea Salt or Incense Marblehead?
Sea Salt for wearability but Marblehead seems more “special”

Alternative perspective: For me its most certainty not a buy. Simply because of the amount of the release... So many were sold its doubtful this will ever be highly coveted and/or a special release
All Made boxes will be like these moving forward, but instead of cream and red, they're light grey with a dark grey NB logo and white text. Someone returned a pair to us over at the Houston NB Factory store and it was in that box.

I wanted the apparel but the prices are insane. Makes the shoes seem cheap.
When I go true to size, it feels the toe box has a little bit too much space and when I go half a size down it’s quite snug and I am not able to wear thicker socks…it’s a weird sizing.

A little bigger is always better than snug, feeling a little roomy should be more comfortable than feel them snug
Sizing really depends on your preference..I find it long to have it in your TTS . But Halfsize down a bit snug which is fine.

V2 is the best, then V1. I know I’m the minority for this but 990v3 is one of my least liked NB models. I don’t like its shape nor how it looks on foot.

These sneakers look amazing, but given how large the release was and how popular New Balance is becoming these are very difficult for me to support now, they are becoming too popular (old man yelling at clouds/your favorite band is going mainstream).
Idk this release was massive and everyone rocking 990v3s already making me look elsewhere. Mainstream NOT my style and it’s strange to now see your style go mainstream…

Agreed. Due to many collabs in recent years, NB's popularity has rocketed. It's pretty much impossible to snag an exclusive pair like the one shown in this video. The sneaker hype culture is not for me especially being in my late 30's. I'll treat myself once in a while, but I just can't cop just to say I was one of the first few.
