I bought a Redondo classic in cosmic turquoise and I LOVE IT! It’s my first “nice” guitar and it really blows me away. Looks great, sounds great and it just feels right.
This is a great guitar. It is a dreadnought and good looking shape compared to standard dreadnought shape.
I have to turn off the notices from the fender channel if I want to save some money.
Love these California Classic Fenders. Just sound so deep and throaty.
That Malibu has such a great sound. Smooth. Mellow.👌
I bought the Malibu ,its amazing for finger picking, but I wanted a bigger sound so I changed for the redondo. Damn what a sound. I loooooove it. And the mic it's a dream too
Man...I love the aesthetics of these guitars as well as the sound. I ordered the Newporter in Cosmic Turqoise. What attracted me to this model is the "hybrid" design. It's like to best of both worlds...finger picking and strumming. I should be delivered by this Friday. Man, I can't wait!!!
For strumming chords and also finher picking...which you prefer between newporter and redondo?

I remember him from years ago when he was Semi Precious Weapons' original guitar player (before they moved to LA and went pop). Hell of a player.

Good job, surprisingly good tones from all of them. I'd like to hear more fingerstyle and a little harder attack with the thumb on the small body to see if the bottom says fat and balanced, but I guess I'll need to make a trip to a store... 😎

Is there any difference between the special and classic California Series guitars when it comes to build quality, or are the differences purely cosmetic?
I see some hate for the tone of the fender acoustics. I really don't get it. If this guitar was 3000 dollars people would say the tone was "unique" and "refined" and "vintage".
It is a great guitar for the price.
I love the sound of these guitars. They have a Gibson tonality to them yet still unique.

It's cool that the head looks like the Stratocaster's
It headstock looks like a Stratocaster, but it's bigger (like Deluxe Stratocaster).

First let my say that looks are great but the sound is where it is at, I mean we play guitar because we like the sound of a guitar. Sound is king. I have read some where that the angle from the nut to the tuner machines results in a compromise in optimum sound quality. Some inventor even came up with a gadget that keeps the pull straight on a standard square headstock, do feel the straight pull of the strings that is available from this headstock improves the sound?

Amazing colours
I thought they had a redondo model in “Electric Jade” but I don’t see the colour any more. Did it retire or…?
I got me one of the Aqua Malibu’s and it sounds really good. I like the smaller size too.
I checked out the turquoise Newporter at GC the other day. These things look even better in person. I love that that wood finish on the back and sides with the painted front. I really wanted to try the Malibu but they didn't have one in stock. The Newporter had a thin body which made it very comfortable to hold and play but I think that kind of design can make the tone suffer a little. It sounded a little thin/harsh to me. I'm still looking forward to trying the Malibu and Redondo.

And I went back a second time and tried the less expensive ($399) but larger Redondo, all black. That thing sounded pretty good actually and I think it's a good value.
Michael Ashe out if the whole series, I’m considering to get the newporter turquoise. Do u have suggestions? I currently have a yamaha fg820 which sounds good with elixir strings but it isn’t Acoustic-Electric guitar. Besides, this one looks amazing and sounds really nice.

Lusin no they don’t. The thing about this CA series is that they used all the colors that stick with California culture and traditions. Therefore, i would say check other brands or series for natural finish

Aren't they available anymore? I searched in the Fender Store but could only find the guitars with in wood colour.

I'm sure any store that sells these would have a recommendation but Fender is probably the best place to listen to.

It's frustrating that Guitar Center never has the Malibu Classic in stock. I want to actually play one before purchasing it. There are hardly any reviews for it online either.
Malibu looks a LOT like the Avalon; I had one of those in the 80s

I enjoy my cheap fender california series. But be warned there is a lot of studio production on this video. They sound much thinner in tone in person.

God, this guy is annoying. Both in terms of his "joke-y" or "smooth" presentation and his playing. His playing isn't bad, but he keeps picking towards the bridge a lot, which doesn't do the demonstration of the guitars their sounds any favors. - On top of that, these videos are edited like they're parodies.
An acoustic with that headstock just visually doesn’t work
For purists maybe.
They're trying to be an acoustic guitar that still looks like a Fender.
