So, do you want the genes to COMPLIMENT? . . .or - what happens if you mate 2 dogs that OVER LAP in the areas that generate dense bone growth ? Would that be desirable, or detrimental ?
Can be both. The basis of say line breeding and inbreeding/outcrossing still apply. Meaning if you overlap those areas too much due to inbreeding you can get negative results. If you are going to outcross you will want to compliment or overlap as the homozygosity of both parents are different in the same areas. Lastly if you are line breeding you may want to overlap as well as long as you are not over doing it
