    Big PB! Track running is tough but on you’re own it is doubly tough! Great effort 👌. No need to call the emergency services for Becky then seeing as the fire brigade already there 🤓. Will you accompany Becky on her attempt? A bit of drafting over the first 2 laps✊

      @TheRegularRunner  Месяц назад +1

      That would depend heavily on whether i think she'll beat my PB or not. I might have to pack a toy fire truck or 2 to leave at strategic points on the track 🤣 I actually think her biggest challenge is not fitness but her pacing as she usually leaves it up to me. But I'm sure she'll do great as long as she starts a little easier and builds into it. 🏃‍♂️🔥💪

      Haha, Il be keeping an eye out for any toys suddenly appearing on the track that day 😂 I'm just thankful the floor broke my fall and not a child...that would have been an awkward conversation with the parents 🤣

    Brilliant mate, that’s a great time. Did we hear you chuck up at the end? Haha
    Sorry to hear about Becky’s accident, similar story here. Sliced the whole side of my foot right on the sharp edge of some steel the other night. Took some bandaging up I can tell ya.
    Look forward to seeing Becky’s track mile too
    Great video as always thank you 😊

      Haha. Thanks Craig! It did sound like I was up chucking didn't it? But no thankfully not. I just felt like I was ready to have a little lie down at the end and that was just me groaning as I dropped to the floor. Let's just say I was glad of the track surface being a little bit springy.
      Oh dear that's not good news about your foot. I really hope that recovers soon. I'm sure Becky will heal up soon. The hard part is making sure she doesn't do it again 🤣

      Oh dear, sounds like you're having as much luck as I am 😂 hope your foot recovers soon. Im pretty sure il recover soon as long as no more children's toys jump out and attack me 😂

    Well done Matt! I think a one mile TT is probably hardest run distance to do…. Along with a fast 5km 👍🏼

      Thank you Donato. This was the first time I had really properly tried a 1 mile all out effort and was pretty pleased with how I paced it. I did set off far too quick in the first 50m but i reeled it back and then built back into it for the remaining distance. I definitely think I gave a true show of where I'm at for this run. My other ongoing goal at the moment is a 25 minute parkrun after New Year. Current PB is 26:13. So fingers crossed 🤞 Thanks for watching 👍

      @ great goal! As you may know, persistent training pays off and sure you will soon be under 25 👍🏼

    Nothing hurts quite like a 1mile time trial - well done for giving it a go and a nice benchmark to beat in the future!

      Thank you! It really did hurt. I wanted to stop already after 600 meters 🤣 but dug deep and managed to negative split the mile. I do think I over performed on this effort a little. I hadn't tapered at all (I just swapped my speed session that week for the time trial) but putting it into v-dot calculator gives me a way higher score than i get for longer distances. Maybe I should have taken up middle distance instead 🤔
      Thanks so much for watching and Happy New Year!

      @@blewdigeidfran Cheers Gethin! I left nothing out there on this one. I was really happy to nip under 7 minutes. It wasn't even planned that way but I'll take it 👌

    Strava usually gives me quicker than the races as distance usually goes over but I always go off official distance. If it's in the woods I can occasionally lose some. Well done on the new mile PB 👏👏

      Thanks for watching mate. Normally I agree. This one was just a problem in my mind because i don't race the mile, and so I was only ever going to get that time during a mile interval session or a specific time trial.
      Just checked out your videos too mate. Looks like you're local to us 👍 dropped you a sub. Thanks for watching.

      @TheRegularRunner yes tbh a mile is a distance that id only really cover in and interval session but I know they do a few mile races on the circuit. Tempted to give it a go next year. Yes I seen you was training up at bury. Am over littleborough way. I've subbed your channel too 👍 keep up the good work

    Amazing effort, track reps are absolutely vile 🤣🤣 I wonder how that compares to your first mile at a parkrun

    • @TheRegularRunner
      @TheRegularRunner  19 дней назад +1

      Thank you! I actually wanted to stop already halfway round lap 2. Running it on my own was definitely more of a psychological battle than when there is someone there to try and stick to.
      Our home parkrun is usually really busy in the first mile but I just had a look at my last one and I hit the mile point in around 9:30 (from when I actually started running). That doesn't take into account that I normally have a bad habit of starting too far back as well. It'll be interesting to see how this changes over the next couple of months as i put more training in at the shorter distances. Thank you for watching 💙

      @@TheRegularRunner you should definitely back your ability more and start a bit closer to the front 👊🙌 I'm sure you'll improve incredibly fast, I noticed I got a lot quicker once I trained up my mind set, can't wait to see the next video 🎉

    • @TheRegularRunner
      @TheRegularRunner  19 дней назад +1

      You're right. Having the mindset to know you you can push, and also putting in that consistent and focussed training to actually run faster has already improved my times a lot. 💪 I'm only in the second proper training block I've ever followed, with the last one being for a half marathon, and that structure and focus has made all the difference so far. Fingers crossed for more improvements i. The future 🤞

    the algorithm I think brought me here coz I'll be doing a 1 mile time trial in 3 weeks LOL
    I imagine the 3rd loop had got to be the hardest part of the trial

    • @TheRegularRunner
      @TheRegularRunner  28 дней назад +1

      @@ShinSuperSaiyajin I wont lie, I was already suffering halfway round the 2nd lap. The 3rd lap was more of a mental struggle because I really wanted to stop, and then the 4th lap I just gave it everything to get to the end. Thanks for watching and good luck with your time trial. Let me know how you get on 💪✊🔥🏃‍♂️

    Well done Matt, a 34s PB, I used to do a track session every Tuesday with the triathlon club but I didn’t rejoin in 2024. Do you have to pay for track access at Bury, Warrington is £110/yr for access. Hope Becky recovers quickly😊I did have a Strava vs Garmin issue on a M10K, Garmin said 49:49 and Strava amended the data😅

    • @TheRegularRunner
      @TheRegularRunner  13 дней назад +1

      Thanks Andy! We are members of the club, which this year was £35 for the year (plus extra for england athletics and northern athletics affiliation), then we pay a small fee per visit to use the track. It is also open for non-members on weekday afternoons too as long as the track hasn't been hired privately.
      I have noticed that Strava can be a little unreliable when deciding what counts as moving time vs total elapsed time. I think I've set the record straight with strava now though 🤣

    • @AndyCliffMTB
      @AndyCliffMTB 11 дней назад

      That’s similar to WTC, I paid about £30/year for membership plus £2/week for track sessions, I really enjoyed them but when I left, I replaced them with intervals on a Thu evening on a super flat strip of tarmac near home. But I’ve stopped Thu sessions because of the heel thing since June🤔
