Mirror was a great idea because you could see the details of the hidden side too not just the illusion of depth. But should use a glass cutter instead, cleaner break & less dust.
Ha! Yeah I was making it up as I went along so that'd be due to my poor planning! I wasn't sure where I wanted the snow to be so I just painted and weathered everything!
@@TheProppingBlock That's the best way to go. That way you can change your mind on the fly - don't have to worry about sticking to a plan too rigidly and can adapt if there's a problem.
I see you point but it makes it much more realistic that way, as the snow gets trodden in, it turns to ice and as it melts and refreezes, it takes on a crusty semi-opaque glassy look? So you see the cobbles underneath. You see it in a lot of old cities :)
@@ItsVerosLife I'm pretty sure she didn't "copy" him. making a Harry Potter book nook can be a very appealing idea for any artist who is a fan of Harry Potter (me included). At the end of the day they have mostly used very different techniques and had different approaches. I personally love both end results. :)
@@ItsVerosLife The whole point of making these videos is so other people make what you make but with their own touches, ideas, and style. That's kind of the point. That and its basically just a diorama (you tube is full of book nooks), Harry Potter themed. Finally, she makes things she wants for herself, documents the process in an entertaining way, and by no means tries to portray any of her work as completely 100% original ideas.
Making something like this, could actually be a idea for actual spider cages (like for people who keep tarantulas) ...but idk if thats not too much or possible ,since u have to clean the cages once in a while...i dont have much knowledge about keeping spiders as pets ,so.... dunno if that would work. Was just a idea
im actually speechless. the more you added to this i kept thinking there’s no way you could top the last detail, and then you proved me wrong... continuously! for 15 minutes!! well done, this deserves more views 👏🏼
All of it was amazing, but the part that blew me away the most was the care taken to make the little footprints in the snow that they looked like well-worn paths. That is a dedication to realism.
Thank you so much!! I've learned so much my head is swimming! I'll have to watch this video over and over again! That won't be hard for me! What will be hard is to stay focused on the learning end and to not be mesmerized into your building skill. I look forward to watching your other videos. Thanks again!
It is indescribable beautiful, outstanding, creative, fantastic, inspiring.WOWWWW!!!! I have been creating worlds in 1:6 for many years now. And I know how long it takes to construct things. When someone is asking to get something for 50 €... an illuminated room from Potter, almost identical to the Potter exhibition that we made a lot of pictures of. It took months to make identical beds with everything incuded, his closet and so on. Even tiny books hundreds of very little magical things inside. Illumination inside and outside. Nothing baught, everything realistic selfmade. "I thought I could get it for 50 €".....That makes me wild! These things are really professional, not trash that you can see sometimes when people want to make money without talent and no investment of time and no love for details. How can people be soooo blind sometimes??? Your work is great!
Absolute art. Amazing, thank you for sharing. Have you ever thought about trying a front surface mirror? It has the reflective layer on the front of the glass so it won't have that line of where the mirror is.
PHENOMENAL !!! I love that illusion of the street continuing on and the magic of backward signs reflecting in the mirror! You are a wonder. Thanks for sharing.
I think you did an awesome job - I leaned a lot. I am working on mine its going to be a street in Tuscany with flowers in the street and arches of course! Thanks again!
This Harry Potter Book Nook is awesome. You're so talented and I love how you used the mirror to create the illusion of more depth and dimension inside it. Oh, and the lights are amazing too. Love from Amanda Jones in Melbourne, Australia
having a mirror in the back is so clever ! at first i thought it would be dumb because of the reflection of the person looking but that actually makes it more magical and you can see the other sides of buildings!
The details are so amazing in the book nook. It reminds me so much of the Nerdforge and all their detail work. Great jobI bet your sis in law loved it. Great music too.
This is amazing, you've done SUCH a beautiful job! You totally need to do The Hobbit Shire or The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe or more Harry Potter because heck we need more of these!
You r a Genius 💐👏👏👏👏 I m speachles. So many details. So realistic. This video is very helpful and ... I can't find mor words about this great work. Thanks 🙏💖
Being real, this is one of the coolest things I've seen. I've watched this video 4 times now in the last 2 days. I'm not even a big Harry Potter fan, but this is the coolest thing.
It would be worth trying a one sided mirror you can get them. Basically you can see through but they can’t reflect back out which would remove your reflection and give it an infinite hallway effect. You’d have to somehow incorporate that into the entrance of the book nook however
This is so awesome! I love to see you make everything out of so few materials. Reminds me that we don’t necessarily need specialized or expensive materials to make something beautiful and complex!
I've seen a few HP booknooks and this is by far the best! The snow really knocked it to the top of the list because it makes me think of christmas, and what's more magical then christmas time? Oh and the train bookends. 😉 nice touch. This was amazing. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful! And the music was lovely and appropriate. Something to know is that you can buy a front-surface acrylic mirror pretty cheap from Amazon. if you had used one there would be no visible gap in the snow, which was caused by the thickness of the rear-surface mirror. Easy to cut as well.
Brilliiant! Gotta say I never even thought of those, I just picked up some mirror tiles from Walmart a while back. Those look wayyy easier, and better. Thanks!
@@TheProppingBlock Glad that that might be helpful. You do such beautiful, detailed and clever work. I just couldn't help but put my two cents in. I noticed some Amazon reviewers gave it one star because they were using it backwards! Turns out the front surface has a protective plastic film on it and they were using the wrong side.
I worked in the glass industry for almost 20 years anywhere from glass cutting to insulated unit replacement to auto glass cutting I have never seen any glass cut like this in my entire life
The trick with the mirror and the double-sided shop signs make me clap my hands with glee like an 8 year old :D
Seriously! Such a good idea!
That was my favorite part of the build and something I'll keep in my back pocket for future projects.

Very clever. I also love the bookends.
Marks out all the individual cobbles, paints them and weathers them, then covers the whole damn lot with snow !

I kind of thought that too, but then I saw the tiny feet come out to make footprints and all I could think was, "GENIUS!"
Starts cutting out individual bricks

Yeah same thing. This was insane thing. This creation is priceless.

Started out thinking 'ooh, I already have everything I need to make something like this'.
Finished with 'except the skill... '.
Amazing work!
But you have the TIME to get good enough.
It’s just occurred to me that when a house spider wanders in there, it’s either going to settle right down or be scarred for life....

I love the idea of book nooks . . . it gives you another alternative way of displaying.

I was glued to watching this from beginning to end. This channel will be big.

Super nice details, especially the double-sided signs... but my favourite is the little lantern. The cuteness.
