  • @Lambda.Function

    Tablet has an enormous advantage starting around high 5*, since that's when significant movement and high speed jumps are present in just about every map, and it's hard to play those at any decent length with a mouse. The issue is that a lot of noobs fall into the tablet trap. Since it is vastly superior in general for aim, they compensate for bad reading and movement and just farm Sotarks maps with HD and then get stuck with bad acc plays or unable to pass simple 5* maps and even harder 4* maps. There are more skills involved in most maps than just aim.
    This is the fault of the PP system though (and that tablet isn't treated like touchscreen, both of which should be their own separate leaderboards). You can 99% a hard 5* map and miss one circle in a hard section in the middle of the map and drop from the FC score of 240 PP down to 150-160, but those easy Sotarks 1:30 maps that can be brute forced with high aim are easy 240 PP. Simply put: PP is a meme, don't fall into the trap, just play to enjoy the game, but if you get good at it and want to push into 6-8* and into low 4 digits, you should probably get a tablet because being held back by a mouse will get frustrating.

    • @moyo4004
      @moyo4004 4 года назад +1

      I can see you are clearly talking from a table players perspective and a lot of tablet players like to day that its significantly harder to play high 5* or 6* maps with mouse when they dont use the mouse playstyle and they're speaking one side of the spectrum. Nor have they learned mouse. Please inform yourself before making drastic claims such as this. Most start off on mouse and switch to tablet, but a a lot dont learn the mouse playstyle frankly. just consider both sides of the spectrum

    • @Lambda.Function
      @Lambda.Function 4 года назад +1

      @@moyo4004 I play 6* maps with a mouse. They're fairly easy for me to play, but the problem that's developed is that they're significantly harder to FC because of simple mouse issues. 99 acc but 2-3 misses every time in different places, so it's not a consistent pattern issue. I can sit there and analyze why it's happening and it always comes back to the same issue: it's the mouse. The consistency and speed is just not comparable to a tablet. I could take drastic changes to make mouse better, like getting a hard surface, a better mouse, a cable caddy, but there are still core issues that tablets don't have, and if you care about actually improving at that point, it makes sense to just get rid of the thing that's holding you back instead of trying to force it to work. But until it actually becomes a problem, there's no actual point to switching because there are likely things that are far more important to improve.

    • @moyo4004
      @moyo4004 4 года назад +1

      @@Lambda.Function That isnt entirely true. You are speaking from your own experience though. you can't expect your personal experience to apply to all people

    • @Lambda.Function
      @Lambda.Function 4 года назад +1

      @@moyo4004 If there are virtually no people crushing higher difficulty maps with a mouse, there's a good argument that it's not just me. It's also fairly apparent as a physical/mathematical certainty, as the number of variables that can negatively affect your play with a tablet are reduced. Then there's the basic fact that humans have much more dexterity in their fingers than in their wrist/arm, for instance how fast can you spin and then immediately return to hitting circles with a mouse vs tablet? Can you draw a precise star shape with a pencil significantly faster and more accurately than you can with a mouse? There's a reason artists use tablets and not mice. When maps become significantly faster and high dexterity moves at high speed are the norm, these things become important. It really doesn't matter much when maps are slow and easy, but I think I can definitively say that above a certain point, a tablet is absolutely superior to a mouse.

      This. Around the 3000pp mark I got stuck because maps past mid 5* are pretty much all fast crossmap jumps and 1-2s. I pretty much got stuck at a rock solid wall for 6 months, but after buying a tablet and getting used to it for a few weeks I improved very quickly. I can read the jumps fine, but mouse just feels incredibly awkward to hit them with.

  • @anzuchii1982
    @anzuchii1982 3 года назад +7

    I got my 260pp in 6days playtime with a mouse. Honestly it's just preferences and how much you put your effort into something. There's no point of using a tablet if it makes you uncomfortable while playing. The only downside using a mouse is stamina that's all. Some of the top players are mouse users. Don't force yourself to buy a tablet just becuz you read a comment or watch a video on the Internet. And same goes to the tablet users. If wanna use tablet, use it, but if you feel like you're forced or felt like its not necessary, then stick with the mouse. Different players, different playstyles, different preferences = same outcome.

  • @MaximumBoolin

    it's easiest to start learning the game with mouse since that's what you're used too. after the first 2000pp or so, you start getting jumps mixed into your maps and you start learning mods. tablet is easier here and its just inherently better for jumps. after about 5000k pp you start getting bigger streams in your maps. this is where i think different equipment no longer matters. this is where you start focusing on a single play style rather than playing everything and you start to "main" a mod combination. at this point, as long as you have a *good* mouse or tablet, it doesn't really matter what you pick. just personal preference in the end.

    I'm left handed and I was playing osu with mouse in my right hand and left hand for tapping which is pretty standard. I recently switched to tablet and now using the pen in my left and tapping on my right hand. I pretty much have to relearn the game since both hands aren't used to aiming and tapping. it's been about 3 days and I already feel like i'm going to be better with tablet than using mouse just cause i'm using my dominant hand to aim. The only challenge will be getting used to tapping on my right hand!

    This video is kind of biased towards personal experiences. I can play both mouse and tablet with opposing dominant hands and I would say that, A: equipment doesn’t really matter towards ur success. It matters u have something that makes u comfortable but saying that an office mouse and a $50 mouse are gonna make ur game less or worse is wrong if we are talking about success ex:fgsky and while yes he’s kind of an outlier it still stands that he’s an amazing player and he plays on an office mouse with a laptop membrane keyboard. As for which is better it’s what makes u comfortable I have found myself more comfortable with mouse on certain things but tablet on other it all depends on what you do to improve yourself I will say tho that if you struggle with mouse due to mouse drift specifically I would recommend trying an xppen tablet the 430s it’s $20 and pretty good quality it was my first tablet and a great one to try if u want to try tablet
